    Default Gilthanias

Searches with his eyes for any movement or heat signatures in the windows. Let us see where these tracks go.

    Default Rough

Grunts, squinting here and there. "Old human eyes don't do so well down here. Are you others having any more luck?" Looking to Thorn, he points almost offhandedly with his thumb. "Never expected the inside of a mountain to be anything other than solid rock, other than a few caves and crevasses. But you dwarves can sure build them up *strong*" The last word said in dwarven. He was obviously impressed in his own way.

He kept an eye on Gil and Vale, wondering how they would react to the subterranean kingdom. For his part, he still preferred the surface of the mountain to the inside. He liked an open sky. Still, anything beat the swamp or Skullcap. He frankly didn't care to ever revisit those places. He busied himself for now tracking their query and trying to determine more details of those they were following. How many were there, was there any clue to what they were doing down here, where they guards, scouts, miners, or even dwarves at all for that matter? He tried not to get his hopes up, but he was hoping they would find a welcome where they were heading. He was anxious for some fresh pipeweed, red meat off the bone, and Habbakuk willing, a new flask of dwarf spirits. His mouth was already watering...

Thorn smiles "Aye Rough never underestimate the craftiness of dwarves." with that the dwarf will assist Gilthanias in searching and following the tracks.

    Maxavel

Looking behind at the large gathering she left behind, Max seems a bit distracted by her thoughts. The large chasm and it's unknown depth bring her back to the present. "I trust in your senses good sirs, lead the way!"

Turning to Rough, she whispers "Can you see anything? I see almost nothing, except for dark. I see lots of dark."

Vale also keeps an eye on the surroundings watching out for any signs of danger, his palm resting lightly upon his rapier hilt. Never total at ease in the depths of the earth, this eerily deserted subterranean city has his nerves on edge.

    Default Gerald

Gerald brought up the rear, following the group slowly, his hand constantly resting on his sword hilt, ready to draw it at any moment.

Somewhere in the Kharolis Mountains south of Pax Tharkas at the Mountain supposedly housing the Dwarven Kingdom of Thorbardin, Late Afternoon of 22 Hiddumont (October), 351 AC

Sir Gerald lights a torch he takes out of his pack and hands it to Maxavel, then takes up his position at the rear of the party again. Rough and Thorn take the lead, crossing the bridge over the chasm and following the tracks while the two Elves, Gilthans and Valentheran follow close behind. Maxavel is next and then bringing up the rear is the Knight of Solamnia....

When they get to the other side of the chasm, they can see a deserted block of Dwarven buildings to either side of First Street, which continued deeper into the mountains; getting lost to sight again as it enters into a deep tunnel perhaps a couple hundred yards away. Rough frowns, and drops to the ground for a moment, studying tracks. He can tell that while the tracks he had been following continue down First Street and into the tunnel; more tracks branched off into the block of seemingly-deserted buildings to the right. Somewhere around ten Dwarven sized people had moved through here VERY recently....and it would appear they were dragging something.....

Vale's sharp Elven ears heard whispers coming from the deserted block of buildings to the right. It was Dwarven and with a strange accent he hadn't heard before....but it sounded like 'we can't let them take our prisoner'....

Maxavel suddenly could 'feel' and 'hear' her Goddess Mishakal in her head;'Beloved Disciple; be warned! The Gods of Evil have thier Clerics now too and one of them is near you. With that, the voice and feeling was gone....

While the Elf and Cleric warned thier friends; a group of strange looking Dwarves suddenly made thier appearance known to all. Four suddenly rose up from prone positions on a flat rooftop perhaps 10 feet off the ground (the roof of the chasm is too far up to be seen in the torchlight), each holding a Shortbow with a nocked arrow pointed at the group. Four more Dwarves suddenly stepped around corners; two of them standing closer than the other two. (All of them are perhaps 50 feet away at this point)

The two closest Dwarves say nothing, but thier tightly gripped War hammers and Shields say a lot. The two furthest away include the largest of the Dwarves; who holds no Shield but rather a large Battle Axe he grips in both hands. The other Dwarf is dressed in dark Robes and holds a Mace while a Medalion of Faith around his neck shows the Broken Scale symbol of Hiddukel; the God of Deception, Lies and taking power thru Betrayal.

All of the Dwarves are wearing Chain Mail and all have dark gray skin and black or silver hair and beards. Thorn has only heard about these Dwarves in legends before....they are of the Clan Theiwar; the 'Deep Dwarves'; Dwarves known for living in the deepest caverns where they are excellent miners but also have a bad reputation for being dirty fighters and for being FAR more willing to break rules, lie and twist things to thier own ends than any other Dwarven Clan. (Kaolyn only has Hylar, Daergar: Thorn's people, and Aghar: the Gully Dwarves)

The biggest Dwarf, holding the Battle Axe speaks up in thickly accented Dwarven. "I don't know what you Tall Folk are doing in here...but if you don't leave in 10 seconds; you're going to never leave this Block again. Make up your mind"......

Will search for a quick escape, to move out of the line of sight from the archers. Hopefully out sight from the group in front of him.

Vale prepares himself for the worst and drifts towards the back of the group look for an opportunity to blend into the shadows. As he passes by Thorn, he whispers "Use the crown."
