Tahla thought for a moment, regarding the shade of the Jedi Master before her. "The Force wills it, Master."

"Yes, the Force is a living being," Jinn said. "And like any living thing, it ebbs and flows. But you must understand that right now, its a wounded animal."

"The Force lacks balance. The Sith have upset that, and thus the old teachings fail. And as you have relied on instinct, and walked the line as best as you can...you've flourished."

Tahla smiled at the shade. "May the Force be with you, Master. I wish that you stood with us, today." She said, mounting the ladder to her cockpit.

Default Part 1: A Bold Plan

The time before a battle was uneasy at best. The gathered ragtag fleet of professional soldiers, well-paid scoundrels and all else in between did what made them comfortable. Some slept, others drank and gambled and more than a few spent time in their ship’s fitness centers, exhausting themselves. Most had never been so far into the Deep Core before, a place reserved for the rich and elite of the galaxy.

Though Coruscant was the seat of government, the planetary installation they planned to attack was over Byss, where the true money and influence of the Empire originated. The Emperor himself spent most of his time there with the exception of when the most important legislation was set to pass during the session of the Imperial Senate. Even though all legislation over the past year originated from his office, the dummy government still needed to project the feeling of democracy to the populace at large.

It was there that Senator Bail Organa’s operative smuggled himself out in carbonite to Sel Zonn Station over Brentaal for the information of Project Sarlaac’s existence. Though at the time, the ship’s frame and keel were cleverly hidden on one of Byss’s five moons, the system was always the true home of the Super Star Destroyer. If only they’d known sooner…

Eleven of the 12 hours passed uneventfully. On the 11th hour, or about 0300 standard Galactic time, the fleet went to condition yellow as all hands made ready to get underway. The group all met in the Peregrine’s busy hangar bay as fighter crews perform last minute inspections and maintenance before the jump. As per the plan, the fleet and fighters would engage Byss’ own defense force. The strike team comprised of three larger modified freighters: Zrak’s Jaded Trixster, ACE’s Ace in the Hole and of course the Beginner’s Luck. ACE decided to pilot the Luck, while his majordomo Warrick Raden took care of the other ship. Fighter support consisted of Tahla’s Jewel of Coruscant, Alsia’s Object in Space and finally Vordell the Dude’s Nabooian starfighter. As the strike teams boarded the Luck and Trixster, General Kenobi made his way over to Tahla, an air of calm about him.

“The Force will be with you, always,” he said to her before boarding his ship with the others.

With the time approaching t-minus 10 minutes until launch, the fighters began pulling out of the hangar in an orderly fashion. The mix of Z-95 Headhunters of the newly reformed Gold Squadron and the still intact Y-wings of Blue Squadron left trails of ion in their wake. The remaining six took off last, coming into formation well behind the gathered flotilla. Minutes passed, and they jumped, leaving the strike team to wait five minutes before following behind.

“All right folks, let’s get the hell out of here,” Gavin Zrak’s cocky voice came over the comm.

“Uh, yeah boss. I think we all got the memo, man,” Vordell’s voice quipped.

The commanding officer, Colonel Wist’lya, gave the order, and the team jumped. After one hour and 55 minutes, the channel danced alive with updates from the Fleet. Currently fighter skirmishes dominated the battle, while the capital ships moved to engage two of the Empire’s newest Imperial I Star Destroyers. Finally, the navicomputers blared the early warning, and the six vessels came out of hyperspace well away from the combat zone.

The oddly colored planet of Byss grew large off to their port side. Its orange land masses and purple oceans cast each craft’s cockpit in an eerie glow. Drawing all eyes away from the planet was the largest capital ship they’d ever seen. The dagger-shaped hull of the Super Star Destroyer, known as Project Sarlaac loomed large against the backdrop of the planet. The Golan Defense Platform anchoring the massive ship looked tiny in comparison. Farther off to starboard, flashes of light winked as starships burst into flames and flickered out. The needle-like glowing light of turbolasers streaking to impact on shields also lit up the vacuum of space. The rebel fleet had successfully distracted the Sarlacc Project's defenders; now was the time to strike.

As they approached the defense platform, their sensors pinged with more pressing matters. Two narrow ships seeming to be little more than an oversized starfighters were on an intercept course. The craft id’d as Skipray Blastboats, qualified to take down capitol class ships. The Byss system defense patrols seemed to spare no expense in terms of power.

“Imperial craft, please confirm access codes or state your business for your course towards the Platform,” came a metallic, yet refined, voice over the comm.

While ACE was pleased to be back behind the yoke of his old ship, he couldn't believe Tahla had had his custom controls retrofitted to the original specs. This really was like old times - minus one of his three former co-pilots anyway. He tried to ignore the empty chair next to him and focused on the task at hand.

    “Transmitting now,” the droid replied.

His fingers danced through their former motions, sending the stolen Imperial transponder codes to the refined, metallic voice in space.

“Hold your breath!” he said cheerfully to Shayle at the Sy-Op station while they waited. “Hopefully these codes aren't poodoo.”

Transmitting transponder codes? We have those, right?

"Copy, we have your transponder signals," returned the voice. "I need access codes. This is a restricted fly zone. Why are you approaching?"

OOC: You guys have no access codes.

“Switch to secure channel zero two two eight niner,” ACE replied glibly, switching his comm frequency to a more “secure” channel, with the hopes that the Imperial voice would follow suit. “We don't have access codes! I intercepted chatter on the way here that the Rebels will be attempting to seize control of the defense platform,” ACE continued. “This is an emergency landing situation. I have a death trooper squad on board. You're going to want them with you when everything goes to hell! Requesting immediate permission to land.”

Kadrien quickly put his helmet on from his location in the gunner seat and opened himself up on the comm channel. He hoped his armor modulated voice would help sell the lie. "This is Captain Ozmund, trooper Identification TK-421. We were re-routed under the emergency orders of Inquisitor Soth. Our orders are to hold that platform against a Rebel assault and we will. Advise landing clearance before we lose the whole damn station."

    Default Docking Bay 616

"Roger that TK-421," said the Imperial pilot. "Proceed to the auxiliary docking bays. You'll have to split your ships between Bay 615 and Bay 616. We have VIP's aboard."

The Skipray Blastboats changed course, continuing their patrol. Gavin Zrak's voice chirped over the comm, pinging another secured channel.

"Colonel, Kenobi's asking me to take our team to 615. You head for Bay 616. We'll meet at the reactor. Going dark..."

The Jaded Trixster and its escort broke formation, heading for the other side of the Platform. The Luck, Jewel and Objects veered towards the designated bay as the Platform came closer in the viewport. The construct was monstrous, almost as large as an Imperial Star Destroyer. Thankfully the bluff worked, or the operation would be on the receiving end of the station’s 28 turreted turbolaser batteries. The bay was largely abandoned when the group landed, until it wasn’t.

As the blast doors opened on the far side of the bay, two squads of stormtroopers led by the largest humanoid they’d ever seen entered. Dressed in red robes, matching helmet and carrying a massive vibro-ax, the creature lumbered forward like a giant. They posted up outside the boarding ramp of the nearest large ship, the Beginner’s Luck.

OOC: XP is posted for Run on the Golan = 1200 XP per player. Good job guys.

Uh-oh, what’s next? No map yet.

“A vibro-axe? That's cute,” ACE said, his fingers never stopping their dance across the control panel. The Luck's medium laser cannon hummed to life in response as the targeting system drew a bead on the monstrous creature with its massive gun. “I call this one 'The Darga'” the droid cackled to Shayle as he opened fire on the beast.

    OOC -
Okay, I'm a little rusty on ship stuff so correct me if I screw up, Ed. I'm targeting the big guy.

    Attack Roll (d20+12): 28. Possible Damage (4d10) (x2) = 38.

    Wow. That seems...low.
