Black-purple fire raced outwards from the statue's arm, faster than Dogbreath could even imagine. A huge lance of flame burst forth and Dogbreath barely had time to close his eyes before annihilation. He smelled the lovely scent of something burning, enjoying the odor even if it was him, and squeezed his eyes tight as he braced for the pain. No goblin made it to the end of their first week without knowing what it felt like to be burned. The pain never came. The burning smell remained, though. Risking the loss of vision that would occur when the orb of his eye was revealed, Dogbreath barely cracked open his left eye, the twitchy one. Seeing neither hallway or statue he opened his left lid widely. He quickly opened his right eye as well, drinking in the sight before him. The Zogruin was gone. Around him was a burning town. Cries of pain and fear echoed from beyond the immediate area. Fire limned nearly everything. Shadows danced and cavorted in the twilight as the flames, in all the best colors (Vomit Pink, Blood-Splashed, Warty Green, Sorcerous Purple- Black, even Regular Fire Color! And so many more! Decayed Organ Grey, 'Splosive Gas Blue,...) burned merrily. What was this wonderful place? A hacking cough above him made Dogbreath aware that he wasn't in fact, alone.
Looking up, and up and up, Dogbreath found himself with his noggin craned as far back as he could get it. Leering down at him, a snarl halfway out of it's throat along with a growl of hunger and dominance, was the largest dire wolf Dogbreath could imagine. Drool dripped from it's slavering mouth right down onto Dogbreath's face. He was standing between it's front paws. Reversing his head position, Dogbreath looked down at his feet. He had little desire to watch himself being eaten face first but there was no escaping the certainty of his doom. Interestingly, he noticed the massive fore-paws of his soon-to-be-killer were wreathed in flames, the same purple-black as the statue's flames back in the Zogruin...
