The Sword of Zog was the symbol of rule in the short-lived dynasty spawned by barghests. But Zog was the first to rule, and little is known of him before the founding of his dynasty. What scholars of old knew of this strange and powerful barghest is limited, but the hobgoblin sage and wizard Sydney of SilverMount released a treatise on the biography of the sovereign.
"Zog was a minor barghest officer in the legions of Hell. He chafed at his position and schemed a way to the Material Plane as quickly as feasible. Once there, he broke from his orders and disappeared into Golarion's wilds. What I have gleaned from conversations with a quasit serving Lamashtu is that Zog called upon Hadregash to aid him. Zog wandered the wilderness of southern Numeria, came upon a strange ruin all of metal, and there discovered the sword, a blade-like shard of iron steeping in a strange chemical concoction. Hadregash led him to the discovery, or so some would try and have you believe. It was only after Zog claimed the sword that he arrived in what is now modern-day northwestern Echo Wood, carved out his kingdom and founded his dynasty."
The sword is forged of cold iron, and magically enhanced (+1). It has another power, though, tied to the line of Zog. His heirs and descendants become thralls, further empowering the blade. As more skulls are attuned to it, the sword gains in enhancement. Stronger, sharper, and with further unknown powers. Every third skull attuned adds +1 to the enhancement bonus; at +2 it adds the flaming quality; at +3 it adds the wounding quality. Only 7 skulls can currently be attuned. Barghest or goblin need rule over a kingdom of Zog (regardless of name it must be at least partially within the borders of the previous Kingdom) for a full year followed by a ritual to attune himself and his heirs and descendants to the sword, and thus promising souls to Hadregash's service.

    Default Barghest Hero Pups

Zarongel+Zog-Mugot=Zarugol; "Stonesides" "Mirror-sighted Mutt"; Seer of the Seas and master of the 'pups'. He is brilliant, somewhat mercurial, and he is smaller than the others. Physically he is the smallest, yet even mighty Hangrevor treads lightly with Zarugol. Zarugol leads through cunning and clever tricks. He seldom loses his temper and seeks ever to cultivatet his own worshipers, for this is the true path to power. Until his cult exists, he fears to test Hadregash's might and rule. Not originally born with his tone skin, nevertheless, Zarugol has had be-gemmed eyes and a seer's talents all his days. It is said the foul taste of him in her belly forced Zog-Mugot to birth him whole and sound from her own vomiting exhalations. He washed ashore in Basalfeyst and set out on a quest to speak with Lamashtu. During his quest he was beset by all manner of dangers. Reaching Lamashtu's throne at the end of his arduous quest, he brought her a gift, drawn from the primal seas encroaching on Basalfeyst's shores, the power stolen from her by a qulippoth Lamashtu once defeated and banished. She had thought this power long gone, used and spent by the qulippoth. She was wrong, for the qulippoth had used it to survive Lamashtu's victory over it. Zarugol's reward from the Mother of Monsters was his stony hide, for the fiercest foe he fought along his trek was a powerful medusa witch, who briefly managed to imprison Zarugol as a statue.
Since this quest, Zarugol has been counted as one of Lamashtu's favored. Zarugol never lets the other pups forget.

Hadregash+Venkelvore=Hangrevor; "Firepaw"; "Ironguts", "Hadregash's Heir"; Hangrevor is the alpha female of the pups. She is by far the largest and physically most daunting, but her rage causes her no end of problems, especially when dealing with Zarugol, who's calm demeanor often infuriates her. Hangrevor is her father's favorite, and she plays this up when dealing with others. Her status as a 'princess pup' gives her clout among the Planes, but not nearly as much as she thinks. And the fact that, though she is favored by Hadregash, her rival is favored by Lamashtu. Hangrevor is perhaps most respected for her destruction and subsequent consumption of a kyton cell. Despite the barbs and blades and pointed ends she ate, there were no ill effects, garnering her the respect of the other pups. Hangrevor seeks followers only because she knows Zarugol does, and she doesn't want him to outstrip her in power and influence, even if many think he already has.

Hadregash+Zog-Mugot=Zoghredz; "Torrential Tyrant"; "Death Breath", "Sea Fever"; Zoghredz is the younger half-sibling of Zarugol. He seems content to allow his brother to lead the pups and never disagrees with Zarugol. Zoghredz appears as a diseased greater barghest with open sores weeping sea foam. His gaunt frame is second in size to only Hangrevor and he serves as the champion of his mother in her palace beneath the abyssal seas around Basalfeyst. He is known to be his mother's favorite and both the other hero gods and the other pups often wonder at the total nature of this relationship. Zoghredz most notable achievement is likely his defeat of an agathion knight without striking a single blow. Zoghredz would not strike the first blow, yet he argued with the agathion until the knight lost his temper and closed face-to-face with Zoghredz. The fetid breath of the barghest overwhelmed the agathion and he slumped down, dead from the breath of the son of Hadregash. He has slain other outsiders with his noxious gasping and he is feared for this.

Zarongel+Venkelvore=Velgez&Zeglev; "Twin Terrors"; "Ever-full Flame (Velgez)", "Fanged Maw (Zeglev)"; The twin sisters spawned by Venkelvore are infamous in the courts of Lamashtu and known to be favored by the Mother of Monsters. Both sisters are nearly constantly pregnant, breeding with demons and monsters of all varieties to produce their get. The sisters are representative of goblin fecundity and voraciousness. Velgez and her sister most often appear as buxom, pregnant goblin females. Where Velgez sports a great axe with a blade made of fire, Zeglev is known for her deadly mouth, filled with razor sharp teeth and apparently able to pierce anything, even adamantine. Velgez' most famous tryst was with the ogre god Haggakal and his sisters. The progeny of which serves in Lamashtu's court, a powerful barghest named Zezkgal with immense strength, able to take the form of an ogre rather than a goblin, as well as possessing other unique gifts. Zeglev's maintains an ongoing relationship with the nalfeshnee Br'ogu N'Jaku Faz, Lamashtu's spymaster. Their frequent "tussles" have produced a group of male barghests sporting faces more akin to father than mother. They are collectively known as the 'boar-ghests' and all act as agents for their father. The nalfeshnee sports many scars from these encounters, proof that Fang Maw is no gentle lover.
