Chuffy was right next to Dogbreath when the eldritch flames consumed the wee biter. He felt, for a moment there, as if he was cast in shadow. As if some... presence... was looming over him and Dogbreath. And just as quickly, the sensation passed and Dogbreath was gone, a pair of smoking paw prints the only remaining sign of the conflagration. The sheer rapidity of the event left him shocked. He watched as his broodmate strode past, apparently determined to get some rest. The crazy Rovagug priest joined his brother in the chamber and Chuffy slid wearily to the floor. Then the ceiling broke.
In the midst of a cloud of dust and debris there appeared a new gob, blue-skinned and strange. Sparky engaged it in speaking and his broodling didn't attack so Chuffy waited to see what happened next. He was glad he did!
Gorvgo shambled about the chamber, obviously in distress. He had slumped to the floor and passed out a moment before when the ceiling collapsed, but that had seemed it could be an effect of the crumbling masonry. Gorvgo suddenly veered towards Sparky, vomiting profusely. His stomach was lurching in ways a stomach shouldn't. Sparky's defensive pose nearly brought Chuffy to his feet to aid his brother, but Gorvgo lurched away finally, ending up atop the altar as if he would sleep there. As soon as he did, the altar burst into flames! Poor Gorvgo melted into nothingness as the flames consumed him and were snuffed out. Filled with lethargy, and a little despair as the gobs' fortunes seemed to be turning for the worse, Chuffy slipped into unconsciousness.
He awoke to the very curious sight of Gorvgo making food. His newly awakened brother strode into the hall, sucking tasty morning eye grime from his finger absentmindedly. Sparky peered at the paw prints. He muttered the word barghest once, but it didn't pay to listen to the words of wizards. They put words in their heads, despite the sound wisdom against this. Chuffy wandered back into the altar chamber to see what Gorvgo was making and to meet this new blue-skinned gob.

Chuffy rested. I assume he will follow the others; jump in whenever you are ready, Bill!

Bubissa wanted to keep exploring but knew this could come down to a numbers game. "You do good work today Gobs." She said with a toothy grin. "But we go back. Get others and rest up. We find want down here later, we need all goblins here." All her being wanted to keep searching the halls but something else told her to go back and join with the others. "We find stairs and traps we get first pick of treasure." She said as turned to go back up the stairs and tell the others what they found.

Bubissa wanted to keep exploring but knew this could come down to a numbers game. "You do good work today Gobs." She said with a toothy grin. "But we go back. Get others and rest up. We find want down here later, we need all goblins here." Gobs was disappointed. The adrenaline rush of the trapped stairs had him feeling flushed with energy. But Bubbisa's last comment salved his pride and he eagerly agreed with Bubbisa, hesitant to lose the good graces he had earned from her just now. "We find stairs and traps we get first pick of treasure." She said as turned to go back up the stairs and tell the others what they found, Gobs hot on her heels.

Once back up the stairs, Gobs and Bubbisa joined the others in the altar chamber. Along with introducing the blue-skinned gob, Gorvgo's absence was explained to them by a very weary Chuffy, so it was with great shock that Gobs awoke the next morning to find the priest back among them, making a breakfast for the troupe of beetle jelly on mushroom lid toast, with pickled spiders and some mouldy cheese hunks. Where the priest had managed to find the jar of spiders, a delicacy among goblins, was a tale that Gorvgo wasn't elaborating.

Rested, refreshed and ready, the troupe headed back to the trapped stair and the secrets that lay below. When Gobs and Bubbisa turned the corner, though they realized something was amiss. The door was closed again.
Goblins are lazy. By nature they care not for clutter or neatness. Closing the door simply hadnt been on their mind and neither had made the effort, of that both Bubbisa and Gobs were sure. Yet upon searching it, neither found new traps. Gobs looked at Bubbisa, drew his sword, grinned, and leapt down the stairs as he had the night before. He checked the first bad step, finding his sigil erased. Gobs was careful to redraw it for the others. "Bubbisa, we definitely not alone. Watch for bad step. I re-mark it."
Grimly, Gobs proceeded down to the gate.

There, Gobs was truly dismayed. The carefully edged-off magic rune had been re-drawn. Gobs would have to remove it, again. The goblins needed to pass, so Gobs got to work, again. This fresh rune of magic was in nearly the same spot, so Gobs set to his task with the same tools as last time, carefully removing the rune as the others gathered behind him on the stairs. Knowing the way was safe down to the last three steps, Gobs rushed down them, pausing to re-draw the erased "bad step" sigil again on the bear trap stair that had caught him yesterday, the nozzle step, where he simply pointed out the pebble to avoid stepping on, and finally the burnpaste step. Gobs then leaped over all three to land at the bottom of the stairs. The whole effort tok him perhaps ten minutes, so the gobs were all waiting right behind him when he finished.

"Goblins, welcome to the bottom of the stairs!" Gobs bowed theatrically, proud of his trailblazing prowess and trap-disarming skills.
Now down stairs, the troupe had a choice. Three corridors, left right, and straight ahead, peeled off from the steps. "Well, goblins, where we going?" Gobs asked.

Bubissa waited for Gobs to finish his work before bounding down the stairs after him. She skipped over the first step easily. "Watch this step! Bear trap underneath, got Gobs yesterday! Hehehe!" She giggled as she made her way to the bottom three stairs. Like Gobs she leaped over and down the stairs with ease. "Careful these three too... They got fire goo in them." She nodded to Gobs and smiled. She got close and whispered in his ear. "Remember, first pick of treasure." Then she peered down the halls to see what they were dealing with.

Gorvgo watched the beautiful Bubbissa bound down the steps. She reminded him of the fat and buxom New lady in his life. He hitched up his sleeves slurped down a pickled spider with relish licked his fingers and with exagerated gestures and loud chanting in abyssal cast a spell on himself. Winking at the new blue skinned member of their party. And then bound after the ither two goblins.

Ooc cast firebelly on himself and runs headlong down stairs avoiding trapped steps. But tripping at the end over his robes (for flourish)

Sparkskar's diligent perusal of the corridor turned up a pair of black pawprints, burned into the rock deep enough to hold liquid, as if the rock itself were super-heated by the touch of those paws. They were massive; whatever creature they belonged to was large, like wagon large. The paws had claws, which left little scratches at the ends of the pawprints. Not as deep as the prints, but evidence that the claws, too, were more than a match for stone.

Sparky's interest was piqued. But nothing was bubblong forth from the knowledge he had crammed into his tiny noggin. The prints reminded him of a barghest's, but he couldn't be sure. The stink of magics was still redolent. Powerful magics had been worked here, in just seconds, too. Sparky wasn't sure but planar travel could possibly leave an arcane residue of this sort, and anything that breached the walls between planes was certainly powerful. It gave him something to ponder while breakfast was procured.

The Elementalist bent down to roll his index finger around the edge of one of the paw prints. His mind went wild with the possibilities. Sparkskar imagined a godlike Barghest standing on two legs, perhaps raging in all its glory, as untold diabolical energies scorched the stones below. The goblin stuck that finger into his mouth as if he could garner more information from the taste of the strange depression, but to no avail. He could only guess at the odd clue.

Sparkskar glanced behind to see if Gorvgo and the Blue Golbin were stirring, but he did not see any sign of them. He turned his eyes back down the hallway and shuddered at the statue that stood in the far corner. Would it annihilate him as it did to Dogbreath? A mushroom popped into his mouth and he chewed it for strength of will and courage. Chances were the others were having a great deal of fun in parts unknown. It was time to join them , unless of course they were dead.

      Spoiler: OOC

Sparky will move to the door Bubbisa and Gobs had slipped into.

    Default Striegboirk

Striegboirk respected big brains, they were delicious. Sparkstar seemed like he had a big brain. Striegboirk didn't talk much unless Striegboirk had too, that was Striegboirk's place in Striegboirk's old kingdom. Gobbies came to Striegboirk and asked Striegboirk questions, so Striegboirk healed the other gobbies while they slept.

The next "morning" Striegboirk scavenged for food and created water for everygob and when Sparkstar left, Striegboirk followed, keeping Slurry behind Striegboirk for now.

Striegboirk whispered to Sparkstar in Striegboirk's bizarre accent,
"Why you gobbies here? Been many many moons since anyone here. Is the kingdom strong? Or did the smegging Hoomies win?"

    Before...
Strieg was introduced to Gobs and Bubbisa when the two returned from scouting the stairs. He noticed Gobs' injuries, and that, combined with seeing poor Chuffy also injured, prompted him to lend healing aid until both gobs were in fine fettle. The next morning, Gobs and Bubbisa returned to the stairs.
Bubbisa'as keen eyes spied down each of the corridors ahead. Straight ran for perhaps 20' before turning left. Left ran a mere ten feet and turned right. Perhaps the two joined? Right ran for a long length, perhaps 70', before disappearing in the gloom. As Bubbisa and Gobs conferred as to their next step in exploring, the other gobs began to join them. Gorvgo was the first.
Gorvgo darted down the steps, following Bubbisa, but not paying enough attention to his surroundings. He was but a half-turn down the stairs when he missed the first bad step sigil. His foot slipped right out from beneath him and he tumbled boneless down to the gate. There he almost managed to stop himself, crashing nearly to a halt as he pushed through the gates and tumbled down and down. Gorvgo managed to bring himself to a halt just above the deadly bottom three steps. He was upside down, covered in bruises and disheveled and dusty. Gorvgo stood himself upright, brushed off the accumulated dust and cobwebs and leaped to the bottom, narrowly sticking the landing. He was at the bottom now.
Sparkskar was a bit more cautious than Gorvgo, not willing to pay the price of Gorvgo's swift descent. Marking where the other gob had slipped, both Sparky and Strieg avoided the first bad step. Listening as Gorvgo bounced down the stairs, Sparky and Strieg descended quietly. It was only at the bottom, where they spied the last bad step, that things went awry. Sparky's leap to cover the last three steps was a disaster.
Sparky tripped over his robe, much as Gorvgo had done above. Falling forward, he managed to clear the first step, only to land on the middle step. Crushing the false pebble, Sparky felt a wet squish as a jet of accelerant rushed down the tube and burst into fire sweeping over Sparky! As he slammed into the bottom step on his rump he smashed through the false step into the goo underneath. The burn paste coated Sparky for only seconds as the accelerant caught fire too. Sparky flamed like a log in a bonfire!
Jumping around and dropping to the floor to roll, Sparky doused the flames, but not without becoming a scarred and smoking mess.

Gobs heard the falling Gorvgo bounding all the way down the stairs. He face-palmed himself, knowing there was no way the trap setters weren't aware of the gobs arrival on the floor. He groaned and looked down the long right hall. Sparky's similarly dramatic arrival at the stair's end left Gobs aggravated and disappointed. No surprising their enemies today. At least this Strieg character was helpful with the healing. He set Sparky right as rain in but a moment.

Striegboirk lept into action. Striegboirk's new friend Sparkstar was on fire and was rolling around like a gobbie with Sparkstar's head on fire, cuz it was. Striegboirk summoned water from NoWhereLand and doused Sparkstar. Striegboirk helped Sparkstar up and whispered some ancient words of juju and healed Gorvgo.

Gorvgo watched in amazement as the blue gobbie made water appear out of nowhere. The pickled spider he was munching on while watching the oretty fire almost dropped out of his moutH
"Rabbi hug! Did u see that!!! Blue skin w the healies made water!!"
Gorvgo pulled the skull out to show him what happened. A little too late though.
"What? You dont know how he did it?! Hmmph!" he shook the skull and put it back in his pouch. He will look at gons and ask, "Where we go now? U best at lookies and sneakies."

    ooc
gorvgo will wait for the "leaders" bubbisa and gobs to lead the way them follow behind them.
