Hm, yeah, I'm trying to go for a more 'solid gold' look, rather than just being sparkly, which is what most face-paints do. I'm going to try another make-up test tomorrow, see if I can't get a bit closer to what I want.

Any recommendations for a make-up fixative? I know there's quite a few, and some are pretty dear, don't fancy splurging too many pennies on something that doesn't work!

In other news, I contacted a company that makes custom contact lenses, gave them a rough outline of what I'm after. Got a reply back for a member of staff who knows the books! Fingers crossed!

Ninja edit; got a reply from FXEyes... they can do it! Looks like being just over 150, but it's so worth it! XD

Broke in my boots some today, wore a nice hole in the back of my ankle!

Went to a hairdresser recommended to me as specialising in wigs, he's happy to cut them, but said that rather than thinning them with thinning scissors, I should just brush them a bunch, that way some of the hair will fall out 'naturally'.

Oh yeah, another make-up test... I'm rather pleased with this! (Please ignore my random hair!)

Um, this one too, same thing but whiter light.

Ben Nye Final Seal was the one recommended to me. Lasts a long time and smells minty!

    Cool, I'll check it out.

A random thing, when I emailed fxeyes about my contacts, I sent them a picture and explained what I wanted, figuring that naming the character or books probably wouldn't help.
The email I got back was titled 'Raistlin lenses' and began 'I remember the character from the Dragonlance stories I had in my library decades ago. I think it's wonderful that those stories are still being circulated and enjoyed. The characters were awesome and unforgettable.'

Just gave me the warm fuzzies, is all! Thought I'd share

My spell components are coming together! I've ordered a bottle of black oil (for use in Satanic rituals), and my coffin nails are on their way. I have a small bag of cowrie shells, rose petals, sand, marjoram AND newly arrived today, twenty-nine vintage hand made marbles, one of which looks most unusual.... I've got my eye on an Ebay auction for a real amber rod, so fingers crossed that doesn't end up costing the earth. So, I still have to get a rabbit skin, and harvest the spiderwebs from my skylight.
Now if only I could find that Black Mamba skin I had!

My Amazon recommendations are hilarious right now.

Oh, and for the curious, soaking and heat-tempering my quills has worked beautifully. Still searching for the perfect nib shape, but the toughened tips do stop the nibs from flexing and spluttering. More than one page in my practice book has been ruined by a spitting quill!
