    Default Three Months Later...

Alsia Pall, or Alsia Verza as known to others, watched the jump clock wind down. Inside the cramped cockpit of her Novasword fighter, all was quiet in the gentle embrace of hyperspace; nothing but her, the vortex of faster-than-light-travel and the smooth metallic angles inside the cabin. The last year of her life was a blur. Serving with the Antarian Rangers honed her skills in the ways of intergalactic warfare. Only a new recruit during Order 66, her and other novitiates fought for their lives against a death squad of stormtroopers, escaping from their small training outpost on Dantooine. With only a dozen survivors, they linked up with jedi master Rahm Kota and his militia for a few short months, until finally finding save haven with Senator Garm Bel Iblis on Corellia.

Under the senator’s direction, considerable military resources funneled back into the centuries-old organization. Ships and weapons brought the scattered personnel back together in the nine months after the beginning of the great Jedi Scourge and institution of the intergalactic New Order under the now Emperor Palpatine. Reorganized, the Rangers began a push for operations to find the surviving jedi knights. Support came not only from Senator Iblis, but also his counterparts from Alderaan and Chandrila in Senators Organa and Mothma. Over the last month, several missions were successful, including escorting Master Shaak Ti and her apprentice Maris Brood to safe haven on Felucia. The most current op, which she now led, was another escort mission, its completion two-fold.

The clock continued to descend the seconds, and now only five minutes until the end of the jump. Somewhere close in relative distance of hyperspace, if one could say such, 13 other craft also anticipated the return to realspace. Blue squadron, manned with 24 Corellian bombardiers piloting a dozen new Y-Wings, and the DP20 Corellian Gunship Revenge all had positions somewhere behind her in formation. Onboard the Revenge, a Cammasi jedi knight named Ylenic It'kla saw transport first to the Alderaan Defense Force fleet, and finally to Alderaan to join the senator’s personal staff as an attaché. As soon at the jedi transferred to the Tantive IV, the task force order’s included staying on extended assignment with the new Alliance fleet.

Thus far, the ADF comprised of three ships and almost three thousands souls from a multitude of systems. A large percentage were freed slaves, taken from the now deceased Darga the Hutt. Most just graduated basic training under the tutelage of some Clone, however odd that sounded. Alsia would take the rank of Captain and work with the ADF spec ops team as Iblis’ eyes and ears. Its ranks even held jedi, so the rumor told. Alsa remembered her last meeting with the senator. He ordered her to report regularly to make sure his assets were not wasted. In his opinion, full civil war was an eventuality, while he tried to build resistance officially in the Imperial Senate. If everything checked out, then he promised more ships and manpower.

Alsia blinked, and the clock rounded the last few digits…3-2-1...mark.

    ***

Major Shayle Wist’lya sat in the command chair on the bridge of the Resurgence. He was currently servince on watch as Officer of the Deck, a necessary evil prescribed once per three days. Reflecting over the last several months, the Bothan almost smiled at the chaos of hectic training schedules and a few under the sensors missions with Ace, Lykka and Jak. Reorganizing Darga the Hutt’s considerable crime syndicate took time and work, and it only increased his influence in the SpyNet in gaining several informants around the galaxy. Still, his thoughts centered upon Tahla and Kadrien, training on a secret world somewhere in the Outer Rim. It was three months to the day they left with no word to the others, only telling Commodore Verana, who hoarded information as well as any Bothan.

His four-hour watch began at 1600, and the only interesting thing occurring was the imminent arrival of reinforcements from Corellia. Another capital ship and bomber squadron to fill the Resurgence’s hangar bay at capacity would make the fleet a full unit, able to give an Imperial Star Destroyer a run for its credits. The SpyNet was pleased to get the report of the expansion, actually sending a detachment of personnel. One of them, Ensign Rax Mist’nyla, sat as the frigate’s duty sensor officer. His voice interrupted Shayle’s tendency to brood.

“Sir, sensors are picking up a mass of ships coming out of hyperspace, one cruiser and 13 fighters. Recommend going to condition yellow until targets are confirmed friendly…”

OOC: It’s been three months. This scene is for Shayle and Alsia.

Elder, the ranking officer aboard the Revenge is Commander Tomas Krynn, a human Corellian. The leader of blue squadron is Major Rix Destin, a Sullustan. You are in charge of the operation, though, and will answer any hails.

    More scenes to come…

    Default Aboard the Luck...

Lykka, Ace and Jak sat around the dejarik table in the crew’s lounge aboard the Beginner’s Luck, currently docked with the Resurgence. The last three months were a nova of activity traveling around the Outer Rim consolidating Darga’s old assets. Quite a few were dead in the process, but that was hush-hush. Gavin Zak had instructed Jak Starwind to give support with open arms, pledging new enterprise for joint smuggling in terms of weapons and other less savory cargo. A support of manpower also helped on more than one occasion when Darga’s old retainers decided the way of the gun held sway instead of pledging fealty to another boss. Jak only gave aid in terms of advisement with missions, and offering help from Jaded Exports for a reduced fee, of course.

Another person sat at the table as well, a lieutenant to Ace and Lykka. Three months prior, Ace found the Devaronian Warrick Raden working as the Leading Petty Officer of the Resurgence’s Supply Department. How the rogue attained an enlisted rank in such short time was beyond the droid. What mattered is he ran the fleet’s black market. Raden knew how to get things. As a former face-man for the Hutt, Ace’s diagnostic protocols found him to be the best match to aid in their current enterprise. Warrick came aboard gladly, with a three percent cut of the action, of course. He still kept his rank in the fleet as well, allowed detached duty to Ace and Lykka at their leisure under the permission of Admiral Varth.

Raden just recently returned via shuttle from “shore leave” on a mission to get intelligence for a final consolidation. In the power vacuum of Darga’s death, one retainer in particular made a name for himself as the “Red Fury Brotherhood.” The pirate Reddjak and his men was the Hutt’s favorite in missions that involved attacking ships and regaining “lost” cargo. When the human learned of the boss’ death, he liquefied Darga’s store houses on Cato Nemoidia to purchase a squadron of Z-95 Headhunters and a heavily modified old Republic Consular-class cruiser. They were the scourge of the hyperspace lanes in that area of space. Not only did they prove as a foil to Lykka and Ace in raiding more than a few smuggling runs, but their expansion had also hampered Jaded Exports. Jak’s instructions were to take care of the situation with absolute prejudice.

“We found ‘em, boss,” Raden said at the beginning of the meeting. “They are based out of the Cularin system. They’re running ops out of the cruiser. She’s mod’ed with turbolasers and a tractor beam, and eight fighters of course. We take him out, and Darga’s old cronies are good as gone!”

OOC: Ace, Lykka and Jak, post at will!

"What. Kind of? Firepower. Can we? Get. Our hands on? Taking on. A cruiser. And. A small fleet. With just. Our. Two ships. Sounds crazy. Even for us," ACE said flatly. "Ideas?" he asked his assembled criminal brain trust.

    OOC -
Ed, any chance of us getting some basic stats posted for Warrick? I'd like to have a better idea of our underlings capabilities.

    Default Dagobah

A dank fog again blanketed Dagobah’s mushy ground. The cloying tendrils stuck about ankle high, making his feet cold and clammy. Though above a meter, the planet’s humidity brought perspiration and a thick air that was hard to breath. It was the same, day in and day out. At midday, it rained for two hours, cooling down a bit. The cycling moisture rose and fell, fog to rain, rain to fog. Another beautiful day, thought the Zabrak sarcastically. He dared not say it aloud, for Master Yoda was close-by. Kadrien saw the sun come out less than the digits on his left hand.

A whoosh, and he felt more than heard the three remotes orbiting his body. Three shots fired in two seconds. The electric hum of Trangle’s purple blade deflected one, then two, but the third got through. A needle of pain jabbed through his right shoulder.

“Focus! Away put distractions,” he heard Yoda bark impatiently, somehow reading his mind, or so he suspected.

This was not Kadrien’s forte. Using a lightsaber was awkward enough, and though in the past several months his proficiency grew, by no means was he on the level just yet. Doing it blind-folded only compounded the problem.

Several meters away, Tahla supported her body weight on one hand. The hand-stand was even and smooth, her other arm outstretched. R1 and several rocks floated about, much like the remotes did Kadrien.

“Yes,” she heard Yoda speak, as if far off. “Through the Force things you will see. Other places, the future, the past, old friends long gone.”

Again Tahla found the vision, one plaguing her the better part of four months…

The gathered fleet blazed through space at maximum speed, something felt both in the rattling of the deck plates and seen in the glow of the engines of the ships taking point in the formation. Suddenly, a crawling darkness slowly overtook them. Both Kadrien and Tahla felt it before the gargantuan shape blocked out the sun, again washing the bridge in darkness. A cold permeated the room, as if death itself came before them. Though years of training had warned them, there was no denying it as it came fully forward, shattering hope and igniting passion. It was the Dark Side, and the jedi were overwhelmed with the blackest emotions. Jealousy, hatred and betrayal all echoed through their conscious minds as they fought to keep control.

OOC: Ok folks, take it away.

Jake, feel free to use the remote rules on the XP thread.

Will, do your thing with Tahla! Don’t worry too much about the game rules for Move Object etc.

Shayle paced on the command deck, arms crossed. His mind was wandering lately, SpyNet, rebellion, friends. He was distracted with thoughts when the ensign first spoke. Shayle stared at him for a second. "What was that ensign?" He asked in his customary gruff voice.

    "Sir? Orders?" the ensign asked.

That finally registered with the Bothan. "Yes, set the condition to yellow and open hailing frequency. Make sure we got pilots ready in their fighters just in case. Don't bother the Admiral or Commodore just yet, let's see what we got here first." Shayle continued to pace the deck.

"Frequency is open sir, go ahead." The comm relay officer said.

"Very good." Shayle said as he cleared his throat as he prepared to address the arriving ships. "This is Major Shayle Whist'lya of the Resurgence. Please identify yourself, failure to do so will be met with harsh penalties." Continuing to pace the deck Shayle asked out loud to anyone who would answer. "Do we have any scheduled visits I wasn't aware of?"

    Default The Resurgence

"The only event on the docket is an expected reinforcements from Corellia," returned the ensign. "No details or flight manifest, though. The number of ships is one over the estimate."

"Set condition yellow about the ship," the duty petty officer of the watch sounded over the ship's broadcast system.

The signal was also broadcast to the Tantive I and renamed heavy transport "Freedom."

    Default Dagobah

The boggy ground gave under Tahla's weight, threatening to swallow the Padawan's hand. She felt her mind stretching in many different directions. After several months tutelage under the former Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, she'd begun to wonder if that wasn't the point. She understood more than felt the position of the stones, concentrating on maintaining their distance from her and each other. R1 howled in binary frustration, attempting to help her realize that he was currently hovering against his will. They moved in a gentle orbit around her.

She was acutely aware of her own balance. She could feel her weight shift minutely between her free arm and outstretched feet as she struggled to focus on holding herself aloft, using the Force to buoy herself up and maintain her hold on the other objects at the same time. An earthworm crawled across her hand. She flinched, doing her best to hold her composure, as Master Yoda's words carried her off to other people, other times...

The vision came upon her all of a sudden. It recurred often over the past months. Tahla had come to think of the disturbing images as some sort of adversary to be avoided. She spent most of her free time focused and measured, always somewhere else, always centered in on the task at hand, and that seemed to keep the vision at bay. Now her concentration was spread thin, and her mind had wondered enough to allow the vision access. The dark sight snapped her back to a reality that she was unprepared to receive. The stones went flying off, and R1 dropped onto his side, moaning his misfortune, presumably at becoming dirty. She lost her balance, propelling herself forward in an attempt to regain control. Unsuccessful, the girl drove her face deep into the muddy earth.

She came up for air, turned over to look up at the constant, soupy clouds in frustration, and beat the soft earth with a small fist. "Master Yoda! I saw it again. It happened again."

    Default Dagobah

"Control, you must have," he said quietly, nodding, but his voice absent of any harshness. "This vision, seen parts I did. Speak of it, we must."

Tahla had asked about it months prior, but the old jedi master counseled patience for the Force to reveal the appropriate time. Apparently that time was now.

"Come. Sit," he gestured, awaiting Kadrien as well.

OOC: Sorry, Jake. Get your post in, then I'll move us along.

    Default The Luck

Jak stared at the game table, his mind lost in thought as they discussed strategy.

The odds definitely seemed against them in a ship-to-ship battle.

"Maybe we can engage them in port. Close courters. They have to refuel at some point, right."

Jak pressed a button to move his hologram piece on the board. He looked up at Lykka with a smirk.

    "Your move."

When the cards are down and some wild-eyed, green-skinned gamorrean grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the duracrete wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jak Starwind always says at a time like that: 'Have ya paid your dues, Jak?' 'Yessir, the credchip is in the mail.'
