    I have no problem with the house rules (so no screaming bloody murder here ).

    As for the 'Canon' I'm not too picky and for me, the GM can change it anyway he wish and it's fine with me.

    Alignment wise, We can use the Good-Neutral-Evil version of the Core 9 alignment, either way works for me.

    I tend to use the -10/-CON rules for death in most of my AD&D games (as player or GM), so this way might be a bit easier...but I have no problem with a Grittier paly where we die at 0 or lower.

    For a Squire are you talking simple fighter, or will you use the Cavalier rules for squire (with negative level)?

    Alright my stats are: 7, 13, 11, 8, 16, 13 (comliness: 12)
    Which although I cannot afford a Knight (other then Knight of the Crown) or ranger I can still go for several class.

    I could do:
    Dwarven fighter;
    Elven Red Mage/Cleric (probably Chislev or Sirrion);
    Tinker Gnome;
    x Thief.

    Any preference?

    Navi: Thanks for the interest but that sounds like a lot of limitations....do you have the rule books for 1st Edition?

    Boneguard: Please keep in mind that I'm not using the Knights of Solamnia as a class; the Knights will be Fighters (and in rare cases: Clerics or Paladins). Your rolls will CERTAINLY allow you to be a Fighter that is a Knight with the potential of advancing all the way to being a Rose Knight.

    Of course; any of your other ideas will work as well; though I'm not really fond of Mage/Cleric Characters....the idea never really sat very well with me; but if you're REALLY determined to play it; I can work with it!

    Also; keep in mind that I'm allowing 2-for-1 trading; so if you'd like to alter your stats at all; you certainly can do that.

    Finally; I don't really use Comeliness (and Elves CERTAINLY don't get a bonus to it simply for being Elves....this is a LONG standing annoyance on my part....I kinda despise how Elves are so much more 'favored' than the other demi-human races; so in my games they will not automatically be considered 'beautiful and graceful' simply because they're short, scrawny, sharp-featured forest dwellers... )

    Here is my Character. He is an Hylar, from very modest birth. I Used the Core Book (PHB, DMG, UA) and the encumbrance is from the Wilderness guide. He's built to be a crossbowman.

    Are you still open to new players? I am interested in joining the game and I have experience playing in the setting (2E & 3E)

    The only thing I could think of was a silvanesti elf. But since I'm terrible for character backgrounds, maybe I could use some of the pre-gen.

    What works best for you?

    Rogue Astronomer: Absolutely you're welcome to join in! Actually; I need to have at least 3 players and you make the 3rd...whoo-hoo! (Possibly 4th...Navi; you still out there?)

    Garth & Boneguard: A Mountain Dwarf AND a Silvanesti Elf....in Abanasinia....circa DL 1 or DL 3....man, you guys just couldn't go the easy road and say Hill Dwarf and Qualinesti, could ya?

    Okay...for story purposes; here's two ideas I have for the Dwarf:

    *He found himself in some long-forgotten/abandoned part of Thorbardin and some sort of magical trap or artifact teleported him to somewhere near Solace (if we start with DL 1) or right outside of Pax Tharkas (if we start with DL 3).

    *Second idea...he's not from Thorbardin at all; he's from Kaolyn/Garnet and therefore has actually interacted with humans before and for some reason or another he travelled south and crossed the New Sea into Abanasinia....perhaps as part of a Dwarf expedition sent to attempt to renew contact with long-lost Thorbardin...and along comes the war and the Red Wing of the Dragonarmy...and pretty soon he's the only surviving member of the expedition (if using DL 1) or was taken prisoner and sent to work in the Tharkadan mines (if using DL 3).

    Thoughts?

    The Silvanesti Elf....hmm....if you go the Mage route; he could have just finished taking the Test in Wayreth and is on the way back to Silvanesti when the war forces him unexpectedly onto new paths. Or perhaps he's just a free-thinking elf who got tired of his stiff-necked culture and decided to go see if these "lesser" races where really as bad as his people claimed....

    Thoughts?

    Boneguard: Your character looks good to go....couple of minor things; I'm not using UA (except for the spells and magic items and equipment); but I WILL be using a modified Weapon Specialization rule for Fighters (and ONLY Fighters; Rangers and Paladins have enough going for them! ).

    Of your initial 4 weapon proficiencies one of them will be the weapon you specialize in. (In your case; Light Crossbow). You will be +1 to hit and +1 to damage whenever using a Light Crossbow. At 7th level; you can choose to use the newly gained Weapon Proficiency for another new weapon OR use it to become a MASTER with your Specialized weapon; in which case your bonus now increases to +2 to hit and +2 to damage. You may also be happy to note that I have a slightly different weapon chart in which Light Crossbows now do 1d6+1 damage. (Heavy Crossbows do 2d4+1)

    Everybody/Anybody: Do any of you have a strong preference for starting with either DL 1 or DL 3. As I stated before; I'd like to start at DL 3; but I'm cool with starting at DL 1 if everybody wants to. If we do start at DL 3; do you all want to have been assumed to have adventured through the events of DL 1 and 2 or just have been newly freed prisoners from Pax Tharkas (using some or perhaps all of the Book characters as the heroes of DL 1 and 2)? I'm good with either; but I'd like to hear your thoughts and opinions.

    Also...everybody will start the game with 25,000 XP (whether we start we start with DL 1 or DL 3). This will make almost everyone 5th level (Thieves will be 6th...multi-class will be a little more scattered than that)

    Anyway; I'd like to hear your thoughts and I'll work on getting the boards set up and getting the game off the ground. Looking forward to it!

    -Max
