I think this is a good place to ask any questions you might have in regards to the craft of writing.

On Writing by Stephen King is an excellent source. Also, writing in plain language helps.

    Hello people!

I need some help with writing.

Does anybody know of a good guide for fleshing out characters?

I have my story, the event scedule, locations, plot, but I feel that my characters are not as good as they could be...

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

Chuck Wendig is a professional writer who 1) freely dispenses large quantities of really good writing advice that's often uproariously funny, 2) is no literary snoot and fully embraces genre fiction, and 3) makes occasional* use of paint-blistering profanity, so careful with the above link around children, bosses, and small furry woodland creatures.

    * And by "occasional" I mean "frequent."

Also, Margaret is absolutely right; nobody does characters better than Dickens.

I started writing a fanfic I suppose you could call it? Anyway, it is about a Silvanesti elf who is trying to save her homeland after Cyan made it corrupt. I don't have a lot of facts right and I'm trying really hard not to mess things up too bad. I don't really feel confident, but I don't want to scrap it, yet. I was wondering if I could get some opinions from people who know something about Dragonlance and writing. If anyone's interested in reading it, let me know. Thanks.
