    Lightstorm, or “The Golden Sword”, or “Crown’s Sword”, as it would also become known, is a minor artifact bestowed by Paladine upon Sir Darvig Squireson, Knight of the Crown, during a desparate battle for his life against goblinoids in Northern Ergoth. In his first swing with the weapon that had come inanswer to his prayers, he beheaded a bugbear, turning the tide of the battle. The weapon’s blade has a goldish hue of steel. When drawn, it glows with the light of a light spell. The weapon is a +2 holy deflecting bastard sword. The artifact is suspect to have other powers, as well, that have not manifested.

    While drawn, the wielder of lightstorm can attempt to deflect lightning bolts thrown by a magestorm, otherwise known as magebolts. As long as the sword is already drawn, the wielder can attempt to deflect a magebolt targeted at him or an adjacent target as an immediate action.

    The wielder must roll a CMB check against the save DC of the magebolt. On a successful check, the magebolt is deflected harmlessly away. On a failed check, the deflection attempt fails. If the target of the magebolt was the wielder of lightstorm, the wielder receives no save against the effects of the magebolt. If the failed check was to protect a target in an adjacent square of the wielder, the target is still granted any appropriate saves to avoid the magebolt.

    [Holy Ability:
    A holy weapon is imbued with holy power. This power makes the weapon good-aligned and thus bypasses the corresponding damage reduction. It deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against all creatures of evil alignment. It bestows one permanent negative level on any evil creature attempting to wield it. The negative level remains as long as the weapon is in hand and disappears when the weapon is no longer wielded. This negative level cannot be overcome in any way (including by restoration spells) while the weapon is wielded.

    Deflecting Ability:
    Once per round as an attack of opportunity you can deflect any ray aimed at you or anyone within your reach to another target by making a successful combat maneuver check. A failure results in you automatically being hit by the ray. The range of the spell remains unchanged.]

    Description
    Darvig has black hair, blue eyes, long black mustaches, a muscular and athletic build. His facial features are hawk-like, and his eyes seem cold and calculating, but his demeanor off sets that feature. He is friendly, helpful, and polite.

    Background
    Darvig Squireson grew up in Solanthus in a family of Solamnic Knights. His father, unable to achieve the status of Solamnic Knight himself due to heath problems, sent Darvig to squire for the boy’s uncle, Sir Dero Squireson. Darvig began as a page for the knight, and when he was old enough, he became Dero’s squire. By the time the War of the Lance had begun, Darvig was already skilled with a blade. Instead of using the typical sword and shield expected of a Knight of Solamnia, he instead trained using two swords, much to his uncles dismay.

    The first battle the newly knighted Darvig was part of was the Battle of Vingaard Fortress, where he served in the light infantry under the “Golden General”. Although he never met the General in person, he heard enough through the channels of command, and witnessed enough events, that he felt a deep respect and connection to Lauralanthalasa Kanan. Although his company was late in arriving to the battle, they did persue the fleeing dragon armies, which is when he encountered his first draconian. As they reached the river, Darvig had his first opportunity to ride on the back of a dragon, which was an awesome event to partake.

    Description:
    If one was not aware of Bhatair Splitstone's heritage, one would be hard pressed to guess that the devout servant of Reorx is a proud member of the Daewar clan. While most Daewar sport golden hair, Bhatair's is black as coal, broken only by streaks of silver at the temples betraying his age. His immense black beard is kept well trimmed, obviously a thing of pride for Bhatair. Another one of Bhatair's striking features are his eyes. Green as emerald, it is rumored among his fellow dwarves, that Bhatair's eyes can see into one's soul, reading its sins. This, of course, is not quite true but his eyes do possess an unnerving quality.

    As a holy servant of the Tamer of Chaos, Bhatair dresses in clothes befitting his station. Even his clothes set him apart from those he calls his peers, though, as Bhatair prefers robes of red and black worn over Graldamir's Bulwark where most members of the Church of Reorx dress in red and grey. While his noble heritage would certainly mandate that finer textiles be used, Bhatair insists on wearing robes made of sturdy Hardian wool. No runes or sigils adorn his robes. True faith is not in how one dresses but how one thinks and acts, he is fond of saying, thus admonishing his fellow priests for their choices. Besides, of what use is a garment that can't endure a single battle to a priest of war? Around his neck, Bhatair wears a massive steel chain holding a hammer made of steel, a single platinum rune the only thing to break the steel surface of the medallion of faith. The rune represents a phrase near and dear to Bhatair - Creation Through Strength, Strength Through Fire. Bhatair carries Graldamir's Fury, the Reorx-blessed warhammer given to him by his grandfather, in his weapons belt, Graldamir's Ward slung across his back.

    Bhatair Splitstone is a pious man. Every moment is spent in contemplation, considering how to best serve his deity. The warpriest realized long ago that he was not a skilled artisan. He lacked the talent and the drive to toil at the forges. What he didn't lack, however, was a great desire to spread the god's message, to bring the god's wrath to those who opposed strength of mind, body, and community. To those advocated chaos and anarchy. Bhatair felt that he had been chosen by Reorx as his herald, his messenger, and so he spent years perfecting his skills, training with the best warriors in Thorbardin while attending the religious needs of his flock. Bhatair's holy words focused on divine wrath against those who would oppose all that the dwarves of Krynn stood for, preaching aggression against the enemies of dwarfdom. Even after he has ventured out into the world, Bhatair's faith has not wavered. He remains firm in his beliefs that he is the hammer of Reorx, meant to seek out those who deserve his god's wrath. He is on a mission, though. A mission given to him by Unger Splitstone, High Priest of Reorx and Bhatair's father.

    While Bhatair is a cleric of Reorx, he realizes that others may not be so faithful and as long as they don't directly oppose the tenets of the Church of Reorx, Bhatair won't press the matter, preffering to inspire through his actions rather than his words. He maintains a businesslike demeanor when dealing with people, a notable exception being his family back in Thorbardin and those he considers to be close friends. He spends much of his time writing down observations pertaining to his faith in a journal but he is not above sharing a pint if one is offered.

    Description Cariannan is typical of the Silvanesti race with ash blonde hair, dark brown eyes, and a lithe build. She is as graceful and strong as she is beautiful. Even in armor she seems to glide rather than walk, her ethereal grace masking the power in her small frame. The light of Paladine shines within her dark eyes, challenging the shadows surrounding black hearts. Cariannan is only slightly more tolerant of those that are not Silvanesti than her family, however, proving that even in the best examples of faith there are darkened corners where love has yet to shine.

    History/Background The Oakleaf family is well respected within their House, and Cariannan is no exception. Lacking the studious bent of her siblings, she was groomed for House Protector from an early age. Cariannan has the honor of being the first true paladin of E'li's Flame in centuries. Her faith has most recently been tried in the crucible of Lorac Caladon's nightmare, leaving her with a hatred of undead and dragoin alike.

    Description

    With his brilliant white robes and his ivory quarterstaff, there is little doubt that Tarsis is a wizard. From the way he carries himself and the way he speaks, there's also little doubt that he's never really seen "adventure" before. Standing around medium hight and having a build with more muscles than one might expect on a wizard (but certainly less than one might expect on a fighter), Tarsis comes off very well. His striking light blonde hair and his brilliant blue eyes are also distinguishing features that make him come off with an almost angelic look.



    History/Background

    Despite his studious, academic nature, Tarsis was not brought up in an academic place. Tarsis was dropped off on his father's doorstep in the town of Beacon by his mother, which would mark the last time she was in his life. Although his father never spoke much of her, the rumors abounded that she was a pirate, and a pretty good one at that. Tarsis' father, on the other hand, was a bit of a general craftsman. His trade was technically shipbuilding, but that wasn't always in season or possible and so he would often do work crafting items for the townsfolk or making things for passing adventurers and travellers. Tarsis helped out where he could and picked up more than a few things.

    Growing up was a good life and Tarsis' father taught him most of the values that he carries with him to this day. Hard work will persevere, money isn't everything, absolute power corrupts absolutely... those were all things that Tarsis' father believed in. He felt happy in his life, and he hoped that Tarsis would be happy in his as well. For his part, Tarsis was happy. He was perfectly content to take over his father's business one day and continue working in the town of Beacon. All that changed when he met a passing wizard.

    The day that changed Tarsis' life started out like any other -- his father was working on a ship project and so Tarsis was holding down the shop. A white robed wizard came in and noted that he had some items that needed repairing. Tarsis set about it and was speaking with the man as he went. The man recognized an incredible potential inside of Tarsis and decided to wait and speak with his father. Tarsis' father certainly didn't have the money to send Tarsis away to study magic, so the wizard came to an agreement with him -- if Tarsis worked as an apprentice and donated all his time to the wizard's house, the wizard wouldn't charge him for what he would learn. This would continue until the day that Tarsis took his test.

    Now, Tarsis has completed his test. He's free to go where he will and see the world. With his new, fresh robes, he doesn't feel as though his place is running a shop in Beacon any longer, and so he sent a note to his father and left, hoping that he would get a chance to explore.

    Description
    Virgil has blond hair cut sort, almost a crew cut and has an athlectic, muscular build. His eyes are blue, with a calm and collective look. A scar cuts down the right cheek to his chin from a fight he got into as a child fending of neighborhood bullies who were harassing his sister. He is an easy going person who tries to manipulate people into doing what he wants. If it doesn't go the way he planned, he tends to get easily frustrated and angry, hoping to intimidate them until he gets his way.

    Special
    Sailor Lore (Ex): At 1st level, the mariner chooses two from the following list of three Knowledge skills: Knowledge (geography), Knowledge (local), Knowledge (nature).     Dirty Strike (+3d4+2): Same as 3.5, except at 6th level, the mariner can perform a dirty strike as a standard action instead of a full round action. At 14th level, it becomes a free action.
    Opportunist (Mariner Talent): Once per round, you may make an attack of opportunity against an opponent who has just been struck for damage in melee by another character. This attack counts as the mariner’s attack of opportunity for that round. Even if you have the Combat Reflexes feat, you cannot use the oppotunist ability more than once per round.
    Sea Legs (Ex): You gain a +4 bonus to Fort saves caused by the effects of harsh weather or sea sickness while aboard a maritime vessel. The bonus stacks with the bonus granted from the Endurance feat. At 7th level, a mariner becomes immune to sea sickness.
    Back-to-back +2 (Ex): same as 3.5.
    Dirty Fighter (Mariner Talent): You gain a +2 bonus to damage dealt by your dirty strikes.
    Favored Region [Zeboim’s Deep +4, The New Sea +2] (Ex): At 4th level, the mariner gains a favored region, and chooses one from the list below. The mariner gains a +2 bonus on Perception, Profession (sailor), Swim, and Survival checks while in his favored region. In order to gain the listed bonuses, the mariner must be in or on the water in some fashion, along a coastline and in sight of a body of water, or in any port town within the region. Additionally, the bonuses are gained anywhere on an island within the favored region (including Saifhum, Mithas, Kothas, Sancrist, Schallsea, or any island equal to or smaller in size than these, but not including islands so large as to be small continents such as Northern & Southern Ergoth). Bodies of water include lakes, rivers, oceans, swampy marshes, and the like. Boats and ships include alternative water-traversing craft, such as gnome submersibles. A port town includes any hamlet, village, town, castle, or city or the like that sits along a coastline. Additionally, the mariner gains a +2 bonus to Sailor Lore checks (i.e. the two Knowledge skills chosen by the mariner at 1st level) regarding his favored region.

    Zeboim’s Deep: The mariner has expertise in Zeboim’s Deep, all the way from Beacon at the northern tip of Northern Ergoth and the Isle of the Serpent, Serpent Bay, and Moon River, to south along the coast of Kenderhome, including Lemon Bay, Echo Bay, and the Bay of Monsters, along with the Lookit River and the city of Hylo. The region includes the western coastline of Solamnia and its many port towns, all the way south to Caergoth, and includes the Ergoth Divide west all the way to Hudre Bay. Some mariners may even know of Storm’s Keep and be able to navigate its location out across the treacherous waters of Zeboim’s Deep. Kender mariners are especially fond of this region.

    The New Sea: The mariner is familiar with the region of the New Sea and the coastlines of the many lands it borders, including the entire island of Schallsea. The region includes the southern coastlines of Southlund, across the Schallsea Straits to Crusher’s Bay and the coasts of Lemish and Qwermish. The region also includes the New Bay and up the Whiterage River to Haven, and other Abanasinian towns on its eastern coast. The region includes Nalis Aren, the Lake of Death. On the eastern end of the New Sea, the region extends past the landmarks of the Dangling Sword and Thrusting Knife to the harbors of Sanction, and includes navigating the rivers that flow through The Great Swamp. Some of the most experienced boaters might be skilled enough to navigate these rivers deep into the swamp as far as Shrentak in Sable’s Swamp, or Qindaras up the Torath River in the Plains of Dust.
