I have no clue as to what I am going to go with for character or race, but...
Jake: I'm currently playing a Magus in our weekly tabletop Jade Regent campaign, and I really dig that class! You should totally play one. The Arcane Pool is awesome, and eventually, having Spell Recall is absolutely fantastic!

The Magus is a nice blend or sword and sorcery. Also feel free to use any racial and class variant from the books as well.

So I Googled Golarion world map and went to the first link to see the voyage. That map is badass. You can find Magnimar on the top peninsula of Varisia and follow it around the coast, around the Eye of Abendego to Ilizmorgorti, to the Shackles, then to Eleder of Sargava and the Mwangi Expanse.
I would put a link up but... I'm an idiot when it comes to certain things on a computer.The site was rollplaymarket.com though.

Although I haven't made my mind up completely, I'm considering playing a Half-Elven Fighter. A mercenary in search of fortune and fame in the Mwangi Expanse.

i know very little of the Pathfinder races, specifically human, or its geography.... can you maybe edit the post with the cities and ports and include some of the people or beings that might be found there?

This was kind of rushed since I have to go to work. I'll make sure it's all okay later.
Now humans can have have a different ethnicity depending on regions. If you want to know more about different ethnics in a region let me know.
Of course this doesn't limit you to these races. Check out the Paizo SRD and they have a section on different races with stats (look under Racces of the Dragon Empire.)
