I've been reading Dragonlance since the 80's. I have pretty much every novel and comics, I look forward to every new novel!
what moron is responsible for this???? why would anyone discard a novel line that has been so succesful????
this is one of the stupidest decisions I have ever heard of!![]()
yeah, well. do a search on this site for "end of dragonlance" and you'll hear every argument we've come up with. it will save us time from having to type it all out again =)

you can just cut and paste, it easy
it's hard to cut and paste 40 or 50 pages of text =)
the quick summary is that we don't know what is happening yet, but because of the reorganization of Wizards of the Coast and the upcoming Launch of Fourth Edition D&D, things are up in the air still.

I actually searched for "end of dragonlance" as it was suggested and what I found was the discussions on this topic had been spread over a plethora of threads. I think it's a good idea to have this (in one spot) so that people can post or re-post their opinion (as is your personal choice). I found it a little disconcerting that someone would post such a nasty reply under the guise of a smiley face, as if to actually belittle someones effort to perpetuate open discussion on this forum. I was under the impression that this place was friendly and open minded. Please tell me I'm not wrong.
That being said, I think that it's horrible that a franchise that has lasted so long may go the way of the dinosaurs considering I just got into it. The only positive is that I have all these novels to look forward to reading unlike someone who's been in there since day one. I hope that DL doesn't get the axe for all our sakes![]()

Heh. you'll have to forgive my cynicism. Dragonlance has died about 3 times in my tenure as a fan, and moreover, we've had this very discussion within the past three months on this board. There are no new arguments, and nothing we can do, and no new information to pass on that isn't already public knowledge. What more do you want? Frankly, this type of thread is not healthy for fandom, because folks end up focusing too much on the supposed 'death' or 'end' of DL, and not enough on the world itself.
Here's what we know:
2009 is the 25th anniversary of Dragonlance.
No authors, either YA or Adult, have been contracted for new novels past 2009.
All current trilogies and series (titans, goblins, dwarves, anvil of time) end in 2009.
Margaret Weis Productions has had the license for making the d20 version of Dragonlance revoked, due to 4th edition's pending release this month, and wotc's desire to take back all their IPs.
WotC has announced that Dragonlance and other settings are to be treated like the "Disney Vault", brought out of storage every couple of years for special editions of gaming stuff.
WotC is currently Not Talking with Tracy and Margaret about Dragons of a Hourglass Mage. As far as we know, the book is not coming out.
Dragonlance will end, from all indication, in 2009. If you want to change this course of action, buy Wizards of the Coast.

Yeh. Sucks big time, doesn't it?
*Kicks WotC* The pity is, they could have handed DL over to MP (if they had the funding) instead of finishing everything, as far as i can see. It's cruel, yes, but they won't stop and re-give, unless they're God.

Here's what I think.
With Tivo's, Xbox, PS3's and all the new portable pocket devices - books are loosing out.
Lets face it there is just so much free time in a day. Most adults and 99% of kids are drawn to visual stimulation now.
My questions come from why is there no digital format out there (e-book & PDF).
At some point the publishers have a digital copy to give the press, why not sell that as well?
