A long time ago, in a town far, far away...

The day was dying. The sun set slowly over the sleepy town of Hallows Rest. Mothers where half-hearted calling for their children to come to bed, knowing it didn't work. They would come inside shortly, anyway. The cityguard, kept only because of the occasional goblins stealing cattle, was nodding his head sleepily. The shift would soon be over, and he would be off duty. Just when the top of the sun hits the trees, he thought. Then he heard something. He was not even sure it even was a sound, but he was wide awake now. Then he heard it again, this time he was sure. It was the creaking of a wheel. He lifted his helmet, that some of the children had pushed into his eyes so many times he didn't bother to lift it back, and gazed down the road to see a wagon approaching. It was not a large wagon, but it was still pulled by a quite sturdy horse, whose back almost reached the height of a normal man. It looked quite cabable of smashing that very same mans chest with a kick. The wagon was shielded against the weather with something that looked like sailcloth, set up as a tent in the wagon. From the sides odd shape, it seemed crammed full in there. The rider was covered in a large cloak, that nevertheless failed to cover him. He was huge. Even in his hunched position, he was near the size of a man. His clothes where large and baggy, not revealing anything about the mans looks or physics. Wether it even was a man was hard to judge, had it not been for the full beard, with stains of white, that covered the lower part of his face. The rest of the face he had successfully covered by the cloak's hood. His hands was large, even for someone his size. Literally the size of spades, they held the heavy rope that kept the horse in place as if the was needle thread. They were covered in large leather gloves, greatly reinforced. The fingers had still been cut off, and the mans hairy fingers was shown. The nails was extra-ordinary. About two inches of length, the seemed solid anough to rip a mans chest open even with a solamnic platemail in between. They were thick and badly kept. Without a sound, the wagon drove through the town with a speed to match the sleepy atmosphere. The children immidately decided to play some pranks on the new-comer. One tried to pull of his cloak but to no avail, making two or three others come to help. That started to work, but the man also started to move. He turned his head abruptly, and snarled at them. The sound was not produced by any human mouth. It was a bears snarl just before it rises on tis hind legs. He bared his teeth, revealing not human teeth, but the teeth of a predator, fit to rip raw flesh from the bones of a hunted prey. The children stopped their buisness, freezing instantly. It took a few seconds before they retreated to their respective houses, in hushed voices spreading the story of the mans scary teeth and voice. He didn't seem to bother. The wagon drove through town and up to the top of a hill that marked the beginning of the forest that marked that side of town. There, he stopped and dismounted the wagon. The horse seemed to wake up just then, rose to its hind legs and kicked towards the man. Without taking notice of the powerful blow to his shoulder, the man grapped the rope and, without difficulty, he forced the horse back on all fours, glaring it straight in the eyes until it calmed down. Then he turned towards the trees. Picking a large oak near him, he scanned it casually. Finding it to his liking, he yelled back over his sohulder. "Anna! Wake up! I think I've found a place!"

A womans head comes out of the tent on the wagon, she calls out while trying to pull her black hair out of her face "I'm up, the racket of you scaring the children was enough to wake up the dead. Really, if you intend us to stay here you should really try not to scare everyone in town."

BIC: "They were trying to pull off my cloak. The way I look would have scared them even more than a few scared children. The parents wanted them inside anyway." Bearclaw answers.

OOC: well you two can't have run off without your trusty bodyguard... hey when Walnut saw you in the river he was right!! ;) :) :p

BIC: Walnut Thorpicker was skipping along the same road Anna and Bearclaw had entered on. Every few minutes he'd stop, look at the road, smile and continue on. "I wonder why they left without telling me! leaving me in that forest! Well, maybe they know someone in this city that they needed to see before they die...." he said forgetting the matter quickly. He skipped past the sleeping guard and past the awed children and he saw the hoove marks get closer together, so he slowed down until he saw the wagon.
"well, I might as well have some fun" he said and he wandered off the path, around someone's house, then towards the back of the forest.

OOC: Welcome Walnut, glad to have you back. As for you Grimgor, that would have worked IF I didn't already say that you ask me to do this. So they won't believe that I am evil. :p :p :p

IC: Anna chuckles at her husband , her long black hair held back now and wearing a purple dress in her revealing style that she loves so much. A cloak over he shoulders and her scimitar at her side."Fine, but try and control your behavior when we start going into town, ok?" She smiles at him and then hold out a hand to him "Help me down please?"

OOC: And yes Walnut was right, they have gotten married, and are now trying to find a nice place to live and have children. ;)

The cloaked figure darted from house to house in the shadows makeing his way to the woods edge.
rapped in rags he was completly hidden the bunddle he wore swung over his shoulder was also discissed in rags. his cloak and rags blew gentally in the wind. the figure slide straight past a group of children and then a guard with grace he moved not even leaveing a footprint

BIC: Walnut stealthly climbs into the Tent behind Anna and taps her on the shoulder, then practically screaming in a cheery voice, "Hi Anna! How are you? Oh nd bearclaw is there too! Well I forgive you for forgetting me in the forest with that mean army and all those werd animals... but i guess you thought i was going to go with the army... so all forgiven!"
He then sits down on the floor. "Wow! nice place you got here. And it can move! i wish i could have a house like that... like those snails! their shells are houses aparently. Do you think if I found a big enough shell i could carry it around and live in it? that would be great. or maybe the gnomes have made some kind of house you can live in? Those gnomes made an electric pancake flipper why not a portable house? Hey do you have any pancakes? I didnt stop anywhere when i was following you. Oh, except that nice old couple who took me in when i collapsed outside their house. they gave me food and water and then they screamed and led me out the door when I said i wasn't a child, but a kender. You know kender get bad impressions on them nowadays and none of it is true..." Walnut seemed never to take a breath.

Anna nearly falls off the wagon, when she rights herself she turns to Walnut with a murderous glair "Don't ever do that again, Walnut. Besides when we had left, we had hears that you had started wandering again yourself. So we left a message for you just in case the rest of them seen you." She sighs, her nerves still rattled but she smiles "It is good to see you."

BIC: Bearclaw cast the kender a dark glare, then smiled. "Godday to you, kender. No, we don't have any pancakes, but if you can make some from the stuff in the wagon, then go right ahead. Oh, and don't scare her again. Then, I'll have to reconsider some of the events near that Tennel guy. I hope he rots with the dark druids forever."

Anna raises an eyebrow at the new Kender "Hello." Then she turns to Walnut "Why didn't you tell us you brought a friend?" She says still realising that she is on the wagon, with a swift graceful jump she lands on the ground next to her husband, and still looks up curiousally at Walnut.

"Hrm, this place seems to be a kender magnet. I hope the children in the village is not kender as well, or we are going to be in some trouble." Bearclaw mumbles, while keeping an eye on the new comer.

"Hi! I'm Walnut thornpicker. and i've never seen him before!" he said holding his hand out to the new kender, while looking back at Anna.

Anna smirks at her husband "Are you sure that you are not just saying that because of the amount of kender that just arrived here?" A sparkle of humor in her eyes, she then stands on her tiptoes and kisses him on the nose.

"What do I know? This could be the center of all kender merchants every weekday," Bearclaw answers, not without humor either. "But, seriously, should we stay here? I'm for it."

"you 2 can live with me! i have a nice big house that i own all by myself!" Walnut chirps in hopefully.

"First: How did you ever come by a house?? And Second: Big to you, or big to me?"

Walnut eyes the massive man and reonciles, "well... it is big for me, but i'm not sure you'd fit in my house... well if we knocked out the 2nd floor and turned it into one big room, it might work..."

Sunoskae walks around and notices he is considerably shorter then other people, but this doesn't bother him. Sunoskae walks around the town for a while when he notices a dark figure in the shadows. Since Sunoskae is a kender and is very curious, he decides to go check it out. he walks over to the figure and it turns out to be a beggar. Sunoskae walks around and notices he is considerably shorter then other people, but this doesn't bother him. Sunoskae walks around the town for a while when he notices a dark figure in the shadows. Since Sunoskae is a kender and is very curious, he decides to go check it out. he walks over to the figure and it turns out to be a beggar. Sunoskae turns around and starts looking for some people to talk to.

Anna notices another kender walking around, she starts laughing histerikally. She laughs so hard she falls to here knees "Bearclaw you will never believe this, you were right. Here comes another kender."

Sunoskae notices Anna laughing at him. he walks over to her and sees she is a great deal taller then him, he has to look way up to see her face. drake turns around and puts his hands in his pockets. he notices in his left pocket a small leather bag. he shakes the bag and hears coins clanging together. he takes the pouch out of his pocket and sewn onto the bag are the words "property of Anna" ;)

"I don't think I've got the nerves to live here, dear," Bearclaw says in a defeated manner.

the dark figure lurking in the shadows see yet another kender what is it with kenders. he slide closer to the group staying well hiden his ears picked up the speach of the people and the sound of a bag of coins

OOC: what is it with 2 to 3 kenders per adventure hel i would hate to live nere any off these towns.

"What, just because we have a habit of "aquiring things", you don't like us?" Sunoskae shakes his tiny fist at bearclaw and walks away. he starts going to alley ways exploring. when he thinks he finds nothing he leaves. but Sunoskae feels something heavy in his pocket. he feels around and notices something sharp. he takes the object out of his pocket and sees it is a bloody dagger, he checks himself to make sure that it is not his blood, it wasn't. "hmmmm....I do remeber coming across a mugger way in the very dark alleys, it's probably his" Sunoskae takes the dagger and stashes it in a place where is won't cut himself.

"I am beginning to think that you are right." Anna sighs and lays her head on Bearclaws chest. Then she checks her person to make sure she still had everything "He took my money!!!"

"I did?" Sunoskae feels aroudn in his many many pockets in his clothing and pulls out out the leather bag of money, "oh, here ya go, sorry, i can't help myself sometimes" Sunoskae gives the money back to Anna.

"You got it," bearclaw mumbles softly after the kender, then looks down at Anna. "Maybe we should find somewhere else? Somewhere with a chance of keeping ones items?"

"no, don't go, i promise i won't take anything from anyone i know, and if i take something from someone, then later on i get to know them, i will give what i took back, ok, don't leave...please!!!!" Sunoskae gets down on his tiny little knees and starts begging. "Please do-, wait.....i'm making a fool of myself, aren't i" Sunoskae gets up off his knees and waits for brarclaws reply.

Sunoskae notices that no one is responding so he decides to go and check out the town some more. He is feeling kind of mischieviouse. Sunoskae peers into the window of a house and sees a dwarf woman reading a book. he looks over at the fireplace and sees that there isn't a fire going. "What luck!" Sunoskae walks around behind the house and makes sure no one is around to spot him. Sunoskae takes a rope out of his pack. He ties it in a lasso and having had practice with them from his past he throws the rope up and the lasso catches on the chimney. Sunoskae pulls the rope tight and climbs up the back of the building. Sunoskae takes his rope and puts it back in his pack. the quietly goes into the chimney and climbs down. he ash covered head out of the chimney and sees that the woman has her back to the chimney "even more luck!" Sunoskae gets out of the chimney and sneaks into the kitchen. he notices lots of pots, pans, some plates on the table. so he moves into the bedroom. he sees some gold on a table. he walks over to the table and examines the gold. he picks it up and thinks he put it back on the table but when he started walking again, he could hear the change clanging in his pocket. Then Sunoskae heard a sound. it was a loud sqeaking sound. the darven woman got out of her chair and Sunoskae knew he had to hide. so he slid under the womans bed. he saw the woman walk into the bedroom and yawn. the woman crawled into her bed, but it was still early... she must have gotten very little sleep last night. the bed sinks down and almost crushes Sunoskae from the dwarven womans heavy body. Sunoskae waits for about half an hour to make sure the woman was asleep. Sunoskae slid out from under the bed. he looked at the heavy Dwarven woman and saw that she was asleep. Sunoskae managed to get out of the bedroom without the coins in his pocket making any noise. on his way out he walked by a table with a map on it. When he get outside he noticed he had something in his right hand. he looked and saw a piece of paper rolled up in his hand. he opened the paper and saw that it was a map of the town. Sunoskae put the mapawy when he heard something. he looked behind him and saw a mugger with his dagger out. he was walking towards Sunoskae. so Sunoskae put his map away and armed his hoopack. he got in a defensive stance and waited for the mugger to attack. the mugger swung his dagger at Sunoskae but Sunoskae dove under the mugger and ended up behind him. he his the mugger in the back of the knees with his hoopack knocking the mugger down. Then Sunoskae picked up a fairly large rock and put in on the slingshot part of his hoopack. he pulled the rock and string back. and when the mugger stood up and turned around, Sunoskae let go of the string and the rock flew through the air hitting the mugger right inbetween the eyes killing him. Sunoskae walked over to the dead mugger and looked at the rock lodged in the muggers head. he pokced the mugger and nothing happened. he picked up the muggers dagger and put it in his pack. the mugger must have not been a very good one or he just started because he didn't have any gold or stolen good that Sunoskae would have loved to get his hand on. Sunoskae tried to drag the body away but couldn't So he told a guard and the guard got rid of the body. Then Sunoskae walked back over to Anna.... "Anna, Bearclaw.... Have you made your decision weather you are staying or going?"

"I have said no to many things. A begging kender is unusual, but it is not impossible. The opinion of one does not account for the opinion of all." Bearclaw replies.

[Sunoskae]

Sunoskae hears what bearclaw says, but doesn't know what it means. so Sunoskae walks around the town for a while and sees a bird. He is curiouse as to what would happend if he hit a bird with a rock. So Sunoskae takes a rock out of his pack and puts it in the slingshot part of his hoopack. He pulls it back and lets go. the rock flies at the bird but misses. "Ahh man, that was my last rock"

ic- In a small house set back in the woods just outside the the town limits at the end of the road, a lonely fire burned in the fireplace. The table was set for one and the furnishings were sparce. Hearing a small commotion coming from town, Illeria walked over to the window and looked out. Brushing her auburn hair off her face, she was startled to see a gathering of people not 30 feet from her door, there looked to be a few kender, which was not all that unusual, but also a very large man and a woman with them. Being a half-elf, Illeria did not get many people venturing down towards her end of town, most being distrustful of her "kind". From the looks of the wagon, this group seemed to be looking for a place to settle in. Illeria hoped that this would not mean that there were to be more people she would have to avoid. The town's children amused themselves by throwing insults and the occasional rock at her when she ventured out, however the adults could be a little more abusive. Illeria didn't know why she stayed here, but she did not leave.

[Sunoskae]

Sunoskae walks by the house and sees the woman looking out the window....he yells so she can hear him "MIND IF I COME IN, I PROMISE I WON'T TAKE ANYTHING...I JUST NOTICED YOU WERE NEW HERE AND MABEY YOU NEED SOMEONE TO HELP YOU GET SETTLED IN!"

[Kyra Starleaf]

Illeria quickly backed away from the window, not that she minded Kender for they were the few exceptions of the town in the way that they weren't out to hurt her because she was a half-elf, she did mind them entering her small house because usually once they were in she had a hard time getting them to leave again. Looking quickly at the door, she thought about locking it but she knew that it wouldn't slow down the kender if he really wanted to come in, in fact he may look on it as an invitation. Sighing Illeria waited to see if the kender would approach or if he would continue on his way since she didn't answer him.

[Sunoskae]

Sunoskae presses his face up to the window and sees the woman. he walks over to the door and knocks on it, when no one answers he opens it up a litte bit and pokes his head in. he looks around and sees the woman "Hello" Sunoskae says. he walks into the house and walks up to the woman. She is very very tall. "How are you, i noticed that you just moved here"

[Kyra Starleaf]

Illeria smiled " Acually little one, I have lived here for quite a while, I just don't go out much." Looking around the room, she sighed " I can see why you would think I had just moved in as I don't have many belongings, but I don't need much." Moving to the opened door Illeria waited for the kender to leave, knowing from past experience that they quickly got bored since her posessions were so uninteresting.

[Sunoskae]

"well, thanks" Sunoskae leaves the womans house but before she closes the door he turns around and says "i can get you some good stuff, it won't cost you or me anything"

[Kyra Starleaf]

"oh no " she said horrified, imagining all the townspeople who would come looking for their things. " Really, I like the ways things are, I don't need much, but thank you for the offer. Goodnight." Illeria closed the door and grimaced, just what she needed, another reason for the townspeople to hate her. Sighing she went to the window to watch the kender walk away.

Sunoskae shrugged his shoulders "yer loss" he says to himself. Sunoskae sees Kyra in the window, waves goodbye, and walks away.
