Setting: Five years after the War of the Lance. The story begins in the bustling city of Caergoth, situated in the south-western peninsula of Solamnia. The brisk coastal winds of the harmonic mix between New Sea and Sirrion Sea’s currents provide a temperate climate for travelers and merchants alike.
It is the beginning of Market Week, and the town is alive with action. The road to Garnet seems particularly busy, as merchants and travelers bustle in from the east; the ships bringing their own populace in from the seas.
Story jumpstart: Dusk approaching, you find yourself weary from the long and humid day's travel. Seeking an inn, you find yourself (and your full pouches from market) on the outskirts of the market circle standing beneath a sign that reads "The Tradewind." As you enter, you smell the robust blend of spices emanating from the kitchen, and the hearty stench of various ales and meads. The inn is particularly busy tonight, but the innkeep always has vacancies for those who pay in steel. Typical of this time of year, it is filled with seafarers. Among the regulars, people gather in friendly sets around the common room, but you notice there are a few tables open. Reminded of various stories of treasure and spoils of the War, you enter the common room in search for comfortable rest for the long days ahead. ((OOC: Wherever this story goes is completely up to the players, this is a blank sheet with ideas listed below))
Rumors/Stories: *During your journey, you hear two White-Robed mages speak of the whereabouts of an artifact known as Kundor's Book of Many Things- the only "spellbook" ever written by a Kender. Some speculate, they mentioned, that it may be in the city of Gwyned in Northern Ergoth.
*You overhear a few dwarves speaking about the immense post-war riches of a city in eastern Kern called Alyra. They say that bands of adventurers seeking fortune and glory frequently leave the town, only never to return. Some credit it to the Blood Sea's mysterious influence, others say that troupes of wicked creatures now inhabit the reminisce of what once was a prosperous city, now festered in ruins.
*You remember a caravanning bard mentioning the rediscovery of the lost civilization of the Bakali, on the coast of the Courain Ocean. The original children of the Gods, or so legend says, the race of lizard people wielded magic in a time before the Moons existed, before organized worship of the Gods. During the Time of Ice, they took up the worship of Sirrion and Chislev, the two Gods that saved them from destruction, so sources say. Strange weather anomalies along the coastal region, and dissipation of the planes, only to be replaced with lush rainforest are some of the facets indicative to this tale.
Rules: *If you must jump in several pages into the story, please provide an adequate (in-character) reason on how you came to be in this scenario. For example, you may be en route to Sanction when you meet a band of travelers on the road; you're a patron of an inn which so happens to house some of the adventurers; etc.
*No "munchkin." You can't be an evil half-dragon half-Irda with chainsaw arms.
*Have fun!

My Character:
Name: Dricas L'Tharian. (pronounced Dry-kis for anyone who has to know :p )
Race: Half-Silvanesti Elf/Half-Human
Class: Red-Robed Mage.
Age: (Approximately) 24 human years.
Equipment/Items: Typical to magic-users, he wears various pouches, among having spell component objects in other secret pockets in his crimson robes, which are adorned with silver runes around the cuffs, hood, and the backside of his forearms. He carries with him a staff which appears to be a wooden walking cane, twisted at the top into small spires, faluted with metal. In the midst of the spirework, rests a small, multifaced crystal that seems to flucuate in color the more you look at it.
Description: You first notice the slender, yet muscular features of this young man. You can speculate that he is partially elven, but his dark facial hair that extends from his sideburns to his chin are indicative of a human heritage. His crystalesque blue-green eyes gleam with a hint of desolation, seemingly in constant thought and motion, which ultimately compliments his ever so distant, yet familiar visage. His light auburn hair falls neatly in perfect chaos around his ears. You can smell the sweet aroma of various spell components, along with the coniferous scent of the forest about this youth.
Standing in the entrance, the young man glances about the room and then settles on small, perhaps three-person table near the fireplace. Seeing the well kept, yet scantily clad hostess approach, he situates himself in the chair, placing his staff beside him. "I'll have a glass of wine, and some cold meats, if you please," he smiles, his accent akin to the musical tones of the elves. The hostess flashes a charming smile at him and nods, returning to the kitchen. He opens a small, plain book and begins reading.

The mage looks at the kender, and eats a slice of meat, tilting his head to look at him. "I do just fine," he secures his pouches and places his book on the table. "Would you like some food?"
He offers the kender some of his innfood, "what brings you to this town at such a busy time?"

"My pleasure" Said The kender, accepting the reward of food anxiously. Stuffing the red robed mages offer into his mouth.
"Imph her' fer a sphell book!" The kender Said between mouth bites, Chewing loudly on the yummy bits. "I heard that a s-sphell book made by a kender should be around here......."
The kender after stuffing his mouth to the max, swallowed and looked down his plate in misery as he noticed it was empty. "ya hear about any spell book?" asked the kender as he sat up right to attention.

The mage chokes on a small piece of meat, yet manages to quickly recompose himself. "A spell book, made by a Kender?! Friend, the only one that I know of is strictly legend."

Dricas, recovering from the spasm takes a long draw from his wine, which compliment his robe's colors you notice though the glass stemware.
He coughs. "Mishakal has helped many along these ways, after the war many sought refuge, or rejoiced in the light."
Looking at the dwarf, he grins, "Seeking adventure with a strong arm eh?" He orders two mugs of dwarven spirts and beckons the dwarf to sit. "I'm always up for one such "adventure," though I'm not sure you'll need that at this point." Dricas looks at the axe, and smiles.

Name: Thyme
Class: White robe mage
Race:Human
Age: 28
Bio:Thyme is a sweet looking girl, but is more than able to defend herself. She wears plain white robes most of the time, but wears casual traveling clothes when appropriate. She has alluring blue eyes, pale skin, and dark blonde hair.
IC:
Thyme had been sitting at the table next to the newly formed traveling group and couldnt help being curious. She had been looking for a good adventure to get involved in for a while now. Traveling alone could get annoying after a while. Making up her mind, Thyme strode up to the table and, giving the group her sweetest smile, said, " Mind if I join you? I believe I can be of some use, and anyways, I was looking for a good adventure too."

Downing the mug of spirits at a reasonable pace, he clanks the mug down and gasps for air. His face turns flush and he smiles widely, "Now that's what I've been missing these years..."
Dricas looks at the kender, "So, this spell book...that sounds particularly interesting, last I heard it was certainly nowhere around here. But then again, such are legends."

"Greetings Thyme, It be Dricas' party. I's say if ye can down de spirits as good as 'im then ye are welcome to sit with us. Unless he says otherwise."
*Ardog orders another round. He thinks elves and humans that can drink Dwarf Spirits are good in his book. He smiles broadly at his new found friends. He thens looks closely at his belongings to make sure the kender has not stolen anything.*

"My party?!" Dricas looks around to the small crowd forming about the table, "heaven's no...I'm just here for the clean rooms during market week."
"If anything," he glances at the kender, grinning coyly, "he knows moreso where any 'adventure' would be."

"Ill take that as an invite then", replied thyme, giving dricas a wink. She pulled out a chair and sat down to have some of Dwarf Spirits Ardog had generously shared, taking a suprising amount that should have had her on the floor. She mentally drank to the toast. "The kender spellbook sounds very intriguing. It would certainly be different, and probably well worth the search."

"A kender ran adventure! By Reorx Beard we could all be killed! Dricas reconsider send the kender home after you have drained him of all information."
*Ardog groans.*
"Bar keep another round over here!"

Dricas looks at the kender, then to the dwarf.
He grins.
"I too have heard the stories, and I think it would be quite an interesting find, should we persue it," he wipes the spirits from his mouth, and speaks softly, "I think that if it's a kender spellbook we're after, a kender would be most apt to find it!"

OOC: Thace, do you still want this thread? If so, we need a bit of guidance. Thanks. :D
Thyme was a little more drunk than she cared to admit, but thankfully still in control of her senses. At Ardog's suggestion Thyme gave a look of mock offence and took another swig, then sighed and got up. "We are getting nowhere... Im gonna go find that kender and interrogate him."
...
Thyme returned a few moments later with the kender in tow. She looked at the dwarf and rolled her eyes in exasperation. "He says he won't tell us anything, he wants to be along for the adventure. Think it's worth it?" The kender looked up hopefully. It was amazing how innocent these creatures can seem, Thyme thought.

"I's say cut 'is top-knot off if he don't don't tell us what he knows."
*Ardog takes a swig of his spirits. He wipes his mouth with the ends of his beard. He then grabs his axe and thumbs the edge. He gives the kender a wicked smile. He don't even know if it was the right kender. In his thoughts they were no better then a gully-dwarf.*
