Here's the story: The Elven Nation is scattered in the Plains of Dust as we all know and many are divided on what should be the future of the nation. A young Elven mage (my character) has just passed the test of High Sorcery and came home wearing red robes. Talanthandros thought with the way things have changed in elven society he wouldn't be branded a "Dark Elf".
The story begins Haven where the young mage has taken up residence after his exile from his people. Many elves have migrated to the city and many want to take the helm of the Elven rulership from the Speaker of the Stars and Sun. Talanthandros has joined a rebel function and has been sent out to recruit people who want to settle a new Elven nation in near Haven and Solace where no one ruler holds dominion.

All races are welcome other than ogre. Mages are welcome but I don't want to get too mage heavy. If you want to join just post your character or pm me. We'll start in a week if we have enough characters.

Name: Trinket Timeloss
Race: Half kender, half elf (Yes, I like doing that. So what?)
Sex: Female
Bio: Seeing to her cloven heritage, it is no wonder that this girl is almost bording to schitzofrenia when it comes to decicions, and her mood-swings are very sudden and very major, usually. Searching through the elven rabble sifthing through Haven she is on a determined haunt after traces of her elven father or anyone related to him. She is in two minds about what she is going to do with him when she meets him, though. Possibly just say hello and ask him (hrm...) some questions, possibly kill him for being a stuck-up prat that left her mother.
Appearence (just for the hell of it, really): Short (well, duh!), red-headed, with big, bird-like black eyes and a snub-nose. Oterwise elven features.
Class: Well, she's a fluetist...

Here's how we'll start: Rain pelted the streets of Haven on a cold morning. The clouds covered the moons' light leaving the city dreary and dark. The city guard of Haven marched through rain soaked streets looking for anything suspicious. The guards argued among themselves as the mood of the day was starting get to the gentlemen. The guard was about to call the city in until a traveling group of Elves.

The guard came upon group and lifted a hand to halt the Elves. "Where are you from travelers?" the guard asked.

The travelers waited for a moment and a red robed mage stepped forward. The elf lowered the hood of his robes and his Elven features could clearly be seen; rain feel upon the pointed ears of the wizard. The guard looked around nervously as he avoided a second gaze into the mage's eyes.

"We are from Silvenesti...mostly," Talanthandros watched the guard shift
nervously. "Why does it matter?" he asked innocently. "Where is your inn?"

The Elves were given their directions and headed to the inn. The party ordered food and wine and mingled among themselves. Talanthandros pulled out a spell book keeping himself mentally removed from the situation.

Mensoths stirred his soup with his spoon, waiting for it to cool down. he saw talan read his spell book and realized that he wouldn't be up for a hearty conversation while he waited for his soup to cool down. he looked around, bored, and saw most of the people in the back corner of the inn. he wondered what was going on. he heard a holler and a hoot and realized it must be a card game, people gambling away their money. he looked to the bar and saw a beautiful young women with black hair. she had streaks of silver in there and a few tangles. her eyes had deep bags around them, but she was young, why did she look like she was old? long night at the bar again most likely, he said to himself. he sighed, bored, and stirred his soup again, he was itching for a fight to arise.

Noticing Mensoths sitting alone at a table, looking bored, Gralamin decided to sit down opposite him. "Greetings, sir, do you mind if I join you? I don't like to partake in games of chance, as I notice most of the others in this tavern are doing," he sighed, sat down, and removed the hood of his white robes off his head, revealing completely gold eyes, like an endless sea of treasure. "So, you hear any gossip lately?" he asked nonchalantly. "I wonder what the bulk of the Elven population in Haven is planning to do now..."

Dante
12-13-2004, 04:24 PM
Mensoths looked up, and the first thing he noticed about Gralamin were his eyes, and endless sea of gold, he shook his head and tried to hide his curiosity(sp). he thought he saw Gralamin's expression change, but before he could make sure, he answered his question, "that my good sir, i can't even answer. i don't think even the gods do. they are all split up, hear, solace, plains of dust, khur, its hard to know. and i don't like gambling either, seems of waste of time, money and breathe."
another cheer rose from the corner. "sounds like someone won a hit."

Talan looks up from his book to see conversation taking place across the room. The wizard bored with the presense of his fellow Elves. Talanthandros walked to bartender and ordered a drink. When it arrived the Elf drank from it and rolled his eyes at the quality. Out of curiousity Talan approached the pair at the table.

"Evening gentlemen. I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. Paladine didn't give us Elves these pointy ears for nothing. So what is it you want to know?" If the pair looks into the elf's eyes they see themselves...their true selves reflected back at them, all the good, the bad, and the ugly is reflected in that instant. (Off topic sort of: Like my soulforge guys?)

Dante
12-13-2004, 05:45 PM
Mensoths saw the elf sit down out of the corner of his eyes, and heard his remark. with his head still down he asked, "why aren't you with the elves in the plains or khur, you must have family there?" with that said, Dante looked up, and saw Talan's eyes. In that instant, he saw himself on a field, a barren field with elven and human bodies littering it. he saw himself holding the body of an elf, he slit the throat and dropped to the ground, with blood spouting upward. the blood hit his face and he licked it off his mouth.
He blinked fiercly, to get rid of the vision, but it was already burned in his brain...

The elf made little attempt to hide his smile. *The human hears in his head "What did you see?. The thing was he didn't see the wizard lips part or his hands gesture.*

"No I have no family sir, not in a sense you understand. My family doesn't acknowledge me nor do any of those who care to hold the old ways of my race. As to what I'm doing here I can't completely say but I will say it's to the north of Haven."

"The mage then turned to Graliman, so how about you. Better then that what are you two doing in Haven?"

Dante

The elf made little attempt to hide his smile. *The human hears in his head "What did you see?. The thing was he didn't see the wizard lips part or his hands gesture.*

Mensoths wasn't startled, he's dealt with many wizards whom read his mind before. I saw myself, on a barren field, littered with bodies of humans and elves, and i slit ones throat, and it died, with blood going everywhere. why do you ask?

As Gralamin looked into the eyes of the red-robed Elf, his golden eyes slammed shut, his face furrowed in concentration. He looked greatly pained, until he grabbed at the medalion around his neck, clasped it firmly with his right hand. This seemed to calm him down. "I was falling," he said alowed in answer to the other mage's questioning look. "Falling from the sky...falling eternally."

Dante
12-13-2004, 08:56 PM
Mensoths leaned toward Gralamin, while Talan's eyes were watching him the whole time. he whispered(sp) in his ear softly so his elven ears couldn't hear him, "his eyes bother me, i don't want these visions to happen through our whole conversation."

She had tied a rag over her eyes, so that they could not be distinguished as elven. In one thing, both parts of her agreed, and that was that they hated being called freak and mistake by people - mostly elves - she met. Pretending to be blind, she could travel moderatly undisturbed, since no bandit that wasn't desperate would attack a kender. On the other hand, desperation seemed to spread like a contagious disease lately, and there were some few who very abruptly had came to realise that she wasn't as easy a prey as she seemed.
She listened intently to the conversation of the people with a table next to hers, and hearing the elven accent, decided to jump at the chance. "Excuse me, sirs. I hope I am not disturbing, but I am looking for a person, not that I have met him but I need to find him and since you are elves..." DON'T! She mentally kicked herself. Don't ramble. They won't answer in that case.
"I was wondering if you know anything of an elf called Ythorelias?" she asked, pushing her impatience back with all the force she could muster.

Dante
12-14-2004, 03:07 PM
Mensoths stopped his conversation with Gralamin to look at the new person. he saw that the new person was a beggar, short with a snub-nose and red-headed. he couldn't tell anything of the eyes, they were covered with a rag, but he caught something he found familiar in the voice, and the way it rambled, but he couldn't place it. "Ythorelias? no, why do you ask?" he asked her. now i have three people to talk to, two with my mouth, another with my mind, he said to himself, hope the elf didn't hear that.

Mensoths wasn't startled, he's dealt with many wizards whom read his mind before. I saw myself, on a barren field, littered with bodies of humans and elves, and i slit ones throat, and it died, with blood going everywhere. why do you ask?
I was just wondering. It amuses me to see what people find in my eyes. If it bothers you that much do what my comrades do: don't look me in the eyes when we speak, believe me it won't bother me.

Talan turns to the beggar and says, " there are a ton of Elves in my party, I don't know all of them by name why don't you ask them?"

The wizard now spoke to the group as a whole in a low whisper, "Are you looking for a proposition?"

AmimiquaiBleeder
12-15-2004, 03:48 AM
She could see through the thin film of textile that they didn't even notice her kender side, merely thought she was unusually short. She breathed a sigh of relief. This would make things much easier.
"He is a relative of mine" she explained with an artfully causual tone of voice. "I've, been seeking him for some time now. You see..." she haltef herself on the brink of the complicated explaiation, drawing breath. "Nevermind..." she muttered.
"But what do you mean with a proposition?" She turned to the elf that had spoken, and...
...And she was looking out from two pairs of eyes at the same time, looking into her own eyes, she was locked in a struggle with herself, as the world rapidly disolved around her...
Gasping, she backed away.

Talanthandros
12-15-2004, 04:08 AM
Again the Elf smiles and makes little attempt to hide it.
"What I mean by proposition?" the elf's eye's flared, "I want an armed guard, I want to make a city. I don't want to hide in the plains of khur. I don't want to struggle in Qualinesti routing goblins. And I don't want to follow some weak Speaker of the Stars and Sun. Help me make my dream and believe me it will be worth it."

AmimiquaiBleeder
12-15-2004, 11:20 AM
"What did you do to me?" whispers Trinket, staring at him through the textile.
Hey, wait a minute, *******, you were supposed to play blind! Cursing herself, she sits down at a vacant chair. "Won't need this anymore, I suppose" she says with sudden cheerfulness, ripping off the rag. "Now, tell us some more" Blast, we... I think I just referred to myself as "us". But I suppose they didn't notice.

Dante
12-15-2004, 12:53 PM
"a proposition, eh?" Mensoths said, "to guard you, eh?" he thought about it, for one second, for he already knew his answer, "i'll take it." when he looked at Talan, he didn't look at his eyes, but his mouth, taking his advice.
Mensoths know looked down at the "blind" beggar, to see that she wasn't blind, or a beggar, but a kender, but a half-kender. what was the other part? he asked himself.

Reghar
12-15-2004, 01:29 PM
Gralamin, keeping firm grip on his medalion, turned to look Talan directly in the eyes. It seemed to disturb him, but he kept his ground, refusing to look away. "A city? You alone plan to start a city? And you want us to help you? I suppose I could help, but what do you have in store for this city?" Gralamin, being a white-robe wizard, didn't like to fight for any unjust cause. However, work for an elf was scarce these days, so he decided he would consider joining this red-robes group. But he still wanted more details first.

Talanthandros
12-15-2004, 02:19 PM
"I did nothing to you kender," Talan laughed, "good blind trick. It worked until you looked at me."

"As to my city I have a home for the Elves in mind. Surely you can understand that. It is our right, we are the beloved of the gods of good. We deserve land. No one is taking the area to the north. My companions, and I'm sure many Elven exiles would love to have a city to call home."

Dante
12-15-2004, 02:24 PM
"what do you plan to call this city?" Mensoths asked, "and where exactly in the north?"

Talanthandros
12-15-2004, 02:28 PM
"I plan to name it Abanesti after the lands that our home will be settled. And I plan to go a few miles north of Solace."

Dante
12-15-2004, 02:31 PM
"few miles above solace, good place to settle, good for trade. i'm in," Mensoths said.

"I'm not a kender" Trinket snapped before she could help herself. Then she gave herself a slap, shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I'm generally a bit... unbalanced. But I am only half, it is true. And that the elves do need a home there is no doubt about."

No my friend, no prejudice towards humans, just towards ignorance. That's just something humans have found themselves usually in possesion. And by the Gods you're right we deserve a home. A home free of religious, racial, and social persecution. Abanesti is my dream. Like Kith-Kanan before me I will make a true Elven state based on the Elven ideals the gods expect us to have. And by Lunitari there won't be any of the purist actions that have made our race fall from its pedistool.

Reghar

"You've sold me," stated Gralamin. He looked over at Mensoths and the half-kender. "This homeland sounds like exactly what we need, if not more. If you're confident you can achieve this goal, I'll help in whatever way I can."

"yes, ignorance can get under your skin, " Mensoths agreed, but he had to ask one quetion, "why do you have so much hatred towards ignorance, and relgion and all that jazz (OOC: can you say jazz? you can now!)?"

Talanthandros
12-18-2004, 04:02 PM
"Why so much hatred to ignorance you ask." the mage looked annoyed, "Ignorance breeds hatred and the fall of nations. I want to stop this. Abanesti will be a beacon of acceptance and a paragon of greatness. This is my vision human, and no one will stop it."

AmimiquaiBleeder
12-18-2004, 04:12 PM
"I like that word" said Trinket quietly, unually enough speaking with both her parts at the same time. "Acceptance. There is far too little of that in this world. Take it from someone who really knows what she is speaking of. And not only humans. Elves have far too long ignored their own faults in favour of all the faults - real or made up - of other races. A home for them founded not only by elves would perhaps change that. I'm in, if you figure me of any use."

Talanthandros
12-18-2004, 04:15 PM
"That is my vision."

AmimiquaiBleeder
12-18-2004, 04:23 PM
"Then it is a vision of good" she said tiredly, leaning backwards. "And at least half of me would have a home if I helped you" she added with a wry grin.

Talanthandros
12-18-2004, 04:31 PM
"You'd have a home for all of you if you came. But how willing are you to make this fision come true? Many would love to see me give up or fail. Are you willing to fight for the beauty of Abanesti?" The elf tried to make eye contact with all around the table.

AmimiquaiBleeder
12-18-2004, 04:39 PM
"Hell yes!" Trinked responded earnestly. "If I knew there was a place where people wouldn't call me freak, I'd jump the chance any day. But what say the other's?"

Dante
12-18-2004, 07:30 PM
Mensoths didn't look into Talans eyes, but said, "i am willing the give up anything for a place where i can live without the fear of dying when i walk out of my home. who cares what the other humans, dwarves or elves think, we can build this place of santuary. i am in." he said this with great pride. now only Gralamin had to answer, and he was hoping he would help as well, for he was the one to talk to him first, and make him feel welcomed.

Reghar
12-18-2004, 10:36 PM
Gralamin considered it, then nodded. "We've all dreamt of such a place. But until now, noone has had the courage to believe they could succeed." He sighed. "I don't know if it'll work. Setting up a civilization is no easy task. But," he added, looking at all his companions, "I will help in any way I can to make this dream a reality."

Dante
12-20-2004, 08:22 PM
"its seems that we're all in," Mensoths said. "when do we start?"

Talanthandros
12-21-2004, 02:18 PM
When are you ready?

AmimiquaiBleeder
12-21-2004, 02:54 PM
"No time like the present" Trinket sang cheerfully. "Shut up and start thinking" she then added sternly, shaking her head. Seeing the other's glace really oddly at her, she glared. "What?"

Dante
12-21-2004, 05:14 PM
"like the "kender" said, no time like the present," Mensoths said. "Looks like youre the leader of this "fellowship", so, lead us." Mensoths smiled.

Talan wasn't suprised to another elf walk into the bar but he was suprised to see this elf at the door. The mage walked to the door to confront the individual immediately.*

"What are you doing here Palan!" The mage tried to make eye contact knowing it would make him uncomfortable. "Don't make another pathetic attempt to save me, besides I thought I left you when those Minotaurs attacked our camp. How did you live anyway? Why don't you go home to father and tell him you found the wandering Dark Elf and he wants you to go Abyss with your Elven ideals and practices."

Mensoths sat there while the two brothers fueded(gr?) their family problems out. he had no idea what they were talking about. are these more reasons why Talan wanted a peaceful place? he asked himself. Mensoths didn't see Palan look into Talan's eyes. He must have expierence. he put on his hood, laid his head down between his arms, and pretended to sleep.

Mensoths got up from his "nap." he follow the rage-sick Talan out of the taveran. Gralamin and the "kender" soon followed after him. when he looked back, Palan had a sad look etched upon his face. Mensoths felt kind of sorry for him.

Mensoths went up to Talan's side and whispered, "what happened between you two?"

people started to look outside their room windows and look out the common room window to see the weird companions leave the inn. Mensoths was still a bit confused on the whole family fued thing between talan and palan. should i keep on asking questions, or not? he asked himself. he decided to ask only when more problems arised, he was after all, a gossip whore.

Trinket Timeloss. And get out of my head.
She glared at the elf. It was nothing personal, she just didn't like people mucking about in her head. Some other people had, and they had all treated her like she was mad afterwards. How could they understand?
"I apologise for my harshness" she said, as her inner scales once more tipped over. "But I do not like to have people that... close up."

A smile took on the elfs face " Don't worry Trinket I do not read peoples minds... it's very rude, i just feel that it's easier to have a private conversation when noone else can hear it. But if you do not wish to converse as such i will cease"

"Indeed it is rude" she muttered to herself more than to him. "Especially when you do not know how to handle the discovery of..." she fell silent, but continued the sentance in her head.
'...the discovery of two minds..."
She shook her head to clear it of such gloomy thoughts. "But I would prefer the normal way of talking, if it is not too much trouble. And if I happen to exaggerate that a bit..." she sighed "...then you have leave to tell me to shut up. I'm quite used to it."

" oh i doubt i would do that, i am not used to being able to actually converse with someone." looks at Talan " I am used to people ignoring me or telling me to silence myself"
