Mina was tired from travelling all day and her wound from before was still a bit tender. She curled up on her side just out of the fire's light and watched the two up on the hill. Whatever Maru was saying sure upset Lyra.
She jumped as something warm and soft brushed against her. She turned and saw a soot black wolf curled up behind her. It's dark grey eyes watched her for a few moments before it rested its head on her hip.
A smile came to the girl's lips. "Are you going to keep me warm tonight?" She asked, petting the animal's silky coat. She snuggled closer as if to answer 'yes'. "You have a name?"
Shakti.
Mina blinked and looked at the animal again. "Did my Mistress send you?"
Nuitari sent me. You have to stop your Mistress. I'll protect you until you do.
"I was going to kill her if i could anyway but why would Lord Nuitari want me to do it. He knows i serve neutrality."
Your Mistress is a threat to his power. If she gets all of the items she seeks then she will have the power to try and depose him.
"Well we can't let that happen can we, but why me?"

Just as Mina's head touched the ground it sprang up again. "What did you call me?"

“Sh-she’s…dead? But how!?” the half-elf cried. “She was still with you when I left. But that must mean that…how did this happen!?”

"Perhaps I tell you later some time..." he whispered to her in elven(whatever type she understands) and turn away and walked down the hill keeping his head down.

Mina saw Maru coming and smiled. She decided to pretend to be asleep and see what he did. She closed her eyes and snuggled closer to Shakti.

Cassandra comes back eventually, she sees Maru and Lyra up on the hill. She lets herself smile a little, she then passes Parin and the elf. Chuckling a bit at the pair, she would have never thought of them getting along. She reaches out her hand and pats Parin on the head not being able to help it, she has wanted to do that since she has met him. She then goes and sits across from Charlette, giving her what could have been a friendly smile but was more of a smart alac one.Charlette had not spoken since just after leaving Haven. This was one of the first times she been out in the wilderness and she couldn't have been more out of her element if she had found herself on a moon. Charlette had paid a mage to transport her to Haven from Palanthas. She never had to leave the comfort of the streets and ally ways she was acostum to.
As the sun set and the shadows grew long, Charlette started to feel uneasy. When night finally came, it was all she could do not to turn tall and run back to Haven. There were so many odd shape shadows that seemed to move when ever she looked away. So many sounds. Did the woods ever shut up!
Everyone less in the group seemed to be on edge as well, but she assumed that it was for other reasons which worried Charlette more.
Cassandra made her way back into camp. She anoid Parin as she passed him. Cassandra then goes and sits across from Charlette, giving her what could have been a friendly smile but was more of a smart alac one.
Charlette half smiles, half snears back at her them gazes into the fire. Pulling her cloak tightly around herself, she retreaves a dagger from her boot. Charlette wasn't sure which was worse: what ever lingered out there in the darkness or the company she was now keeping.

As Altamaru walked down the hill he felt terrible turning his back on his childhood friend, but there much happen now and he can't explain in all at once. Lyra was a very close friend to his sister Tia. When those two well togethor they always seem to get in trouble, until sister Tia became a cleric of Paladine. He still remembers the time that Lyra kept on teasing him and making childish nicknames that she always called. Lrya may not remember the times, since she was kinda of a brat but it seems she grew up in to a shy young women. Just a phase since the times that she poke fun at him, its hard to believe she ended up this way.

Wind pass through his blonde hair as he sigh with relief, he looked at up the stars and though back of his childhood. Remember the first time he played hide-and find in the dark, "Knights and Demons", that was always a fun game to play... but he got tried of always playing the Demon and never the Knight. Also he remember when he celebrate the Eye of the Festival when he was adopted family the Theodore. How many years was it now.. five wonderful years he thought.
Thats right.. its by birthday soon...
He went to the campfire and notice that Lady Mina snuggling to the wolf.
If only I could be the wolf right now.... how get your mind out of it!" he thought to himself.

He took off his cloak and cover Mina with it, he sat down beside her and stared at the fire...

Parin chuckled, said, "You speak plain-." he stopped. A black wolf had walked into the camp and then lay down besides the chit of a girl, Mina.
Parin stood up. He clicked his tongue and then tapped his staff to the ground. He clicked his tongue again and the staff became a dagger.
He smiled. "Hie, ronin, whom sends thee?" he asked, walking over to the strange wolf.
Parin ignored everything else. He focused on the ronin wolf. If he did not like the answer..."Sifat

“Upon the battlefield of which I spoke we have done well together, is that not enough?” Nevercae responded with question. However, the wolf man paid him little heed, rising off of his feet and proceeding to the girl Mina. The elf glowered as he tucked his spellbook back into his haversack.

The flames of the fire still burned at its ten feet, throwing more than shadow over the camp. Sparks sizzled in the air but embers died before they could catch the fire. The mage was not about to start an inferno here upon the fields.

Now he too stood and looked to the black wolf Mina lounged with, the one that had most certainly caught the wolf man’s attention. “Answer the question,” Nevercae barked in the wolf’s direction, “so that my conversation might continue.”

A sigh welled up in his throat but he forced it down, ignoring his own frustration. That was a very useful talent in casting within combat. Learning how to parry and dodge a warrior’s sword as it slashed forward at a hand working the delicate somatic gestures of a spell was most difficult. Then again, Nevercae was an accomplished battle mage.

He looked down his nose towards the two women, Charlette and Cassandra, who were throwing catty glances at one another. Graceful strides took his away from the girl, the wolf, and the wolf man; certainly the wolf man could handle his own kind. The pompous elf made a play at a bow as he approached to the ladies.

“I take it your bath was a pleasant one?” Nevercae asked very plainly while he smiled to the girl Charlette. She had the look of discomfort about her that most elves had in the desert or frozen regions. The elf frowned and narrowed his brow as he spoke, “Is something wrong miss?”

Charlette fumed. oh, how she lothed that woman! How dare Cassandra make such accusations about her and Parintachin. They had only met the night before.
Though she despratly wanted to teach the ex-cleric to think twice about what she said, Charlette had seen how Cassandra had worn her sword. She was comfortable with it, and there was no doubt in Charlette's mind that she knew how to use it. The first lesson she learned from her mentor was that a dagger is no match for a sword.
Cassandra gotten up and walked over to where Parin is stalking the wolf.
She carefully places a hand on his shoulder "Leave the girl and the wolf be, he brings her comfort and that is all that matters right now. Let atleast one person in this group have that for the night."
Why didn't she go bother the knights? Why should they enjoy Cassandra's pleasentries for a while?
The elf had taken a seat next to her and was rambling on about trust and such. She never really heard him.
Charlette stood up and slipped out of camp. She didn't go far, since she wasn't comfortable in these seroundings, but she was sure the Abyss itself would seem like a vacation compared to camp right now.

“If you are cold than you should move closer to the fire,” the dark elf returned. A casual glance was offered the ground by emerald eyes, the campfire’s flames dancing within them as if the grasslands themselves had indeed caught fire. The pretty lights danced in his eyes, like the magic orbs that brightened the nighttime festivals of the Silvanesti.

Nevercae sat down after inspecting the grass, folding his hands in his lap. The woman Cassandra spoke of jealousy between she and the girl, at which the elf simply looked from one to the other. When the conniving woman asked to be excused he made sure not to say anything. He was not about to publicly excuse her for the harlotry or the pretentious attitude she used to bat at the others with. Let her be on her way. Bah.

“What bothers me,” Nevercae began, a smile offered to Charlette, “is that no one here seems to really trust any other. I must meditate soon and all of you should rest but I believe everyone is afraid to close their eyes and take their attention away from the others.” Cassandra was talking to the wolf man now and the mage only momentarily listened to her. He chuckled inwardly and turned his attention back to the young lady nearest him.

“This is not the kind of group I wish to associate myself with, especially if we are to do any good. Where did Altamaru find all of you, a back-alley pub or a prison?” His condescending tone and sharp tongue did little but accentuate how he spoke down his nose at people. He shrugged his shoulders in his crimson velvet robes and frowned.

“Trust is a very difficult thing to attain. Most do well to avoid having to worry about such things. I arm myself with terrific blasts of fire, ice or magical force, but when I am trancing there is little I can do.” A hand tucked a length of brown hair behind a pointed ear as he turned his head to an angle and smiled into the darkness, away from the campfire. “Perhaps I should summon myself a familiar.”

A glint of silvered metal, perhaps steel or iron, came from the direction of the girl Mina and Altamaru, a spark of the fire sending rays of light upon the blade. It was easy to hide a blade from the sight of someone before you, but in the light of a ten-foot fire, clever eyes were difficult to bluff. Elven eyes were cleverer still and all at once Nevercae was at his feet.

Ah dear girl, it was Cassandra threatening the wolf man. How amusing this woman was. Nevercae was liking her less and less. If he had wanted entertainment of this sort he could have hired a jester in Crossing. “Charlette, I believe we should be going. I think the wolves are going to be coming soon for their meal.”

Too late for him, the girl was rushing off on her own accord! “Wait up, miss!” Nevercae shouted, running after her.

Altamaru glare at the fire smelling the burn of wood and ashes, after so many years from his home it would be good to come back. However it would be a unkind meeting between his father and him. But no matter he must protect Mina and the land from the Vigil Seven, even if it had to cost him his life he was willing to do. He looked at Mina and sighed as he put anothr log into the fire. Thinking back.....

Altamaru wander the streets of Solanthus, after running away from his sister from the Temple of Paladine. His heart sank.. his sister loved him and yet she push her away from him. Sister Tia only a year younger then him since he was adopted, he was fifteen.
"Maybe I should go back to Tia...."he thought.
He cross by the corner bumping to a man knocking over.
"I'm really sorry!" Altamaru reach for the man had. The man smiled at Altamaru took his hand and he picked upself up.
"Its okay lad its mostly my fault... if you excuse me I must go.." the man quicky rush off.
Altamaru looked as the man disappered in darkness of the street, he shuggled his shoulders and walked down the street towards the temple. He entered the temple looked around but his siter was not found.
"Sister Tia?" he called out.
"Brother...." a faint whispered.
Altamaru looked where the whispered came from.. it was is sister. His sister sat back leaning againist the wall cover in a blanket, blood can be seen from the blanket her eyes closed and her breath panted. He rushed to her and sat by her side.
"Sister! What happen? Are you okay? he cryed as he held her in his arms.
"After you left.. a man came to me asking for help.. but force himself on me. I fought back then he grew tired and he stabbed me with his sword and run off..." tears run down Tia eyes as he stared at Altamaru. "He took my purity away... brother.." her head leand on his chest.
"Sister heal your self... please you can safe your life," he sobbed.
"I'm sorry Maru I can't.. shame will always be with me if I did," she whispered.
"Please sister Tia. CLERIC! I NEED A CLERIC!" he called out.
"Brother.. there no one here only you and I... tell mother and brother I'm sorry. Brother Altamaru.... take my hand.. please just take my hand," she whispered reaching out her hand to him. He quicky held her hand felling the life and warmness of her touch disapperaing from her.
"I love you brother..." she force out in a tiny whispered as she fell lifeless into his arms.
"Sister I love you...." he whispered in her ear sobbing as he held her close to him. A surge of emtions ran through his body... his soul. The pain hurt deeply into his heart, the feelings of anger, hate and revenge boil over him. His eyes open.. but he did not so his green eyes instead now were black... the colour of suffering.

He lost all form. He returned to the shadow of his true self. He howled now. The patrol would hear him. And then come for him. “Idiot girl, you have interfered for the last time. You are now marked,” he said.
As other howls answered, Parin dissolved into pure darkness and disappeared into the night. He laughed, said, “The Hunt is on Cassandra. May all scorn thee and give thee no succor!”
Steel barked, growled, and then leapt upon Cassandra. The hand that held the dagger fell from the arm. Blood sprayed. Steel grinned, grabbed the hand, and loped into the night. The baying of the pack drew close.

Philandus floated on the top of the river, he liked the water running passed his body, it calmed him. Philandus couldn't go anywhere near large expanses of water as it reminded him of Erwind, he calmly fell off to sleep, his head resting on a rock keeping his head above the water.

She looks around worried, wondering where that stupid elf was. Thinking to herself We really need to get out of here, it will not do any of us any good just standing around.

Lyra smiled slightly as she saw Altamaru and that other girl together. So happy…she could never be like that now. Not after…that incident with the bandits. She could tell him… Her lips tightened. No, she would not tell him. If she told him…he might never speak to her again. It had been only a few years ago, and she had thought she had heard the blasting of horns outside somewhere, but paid it no heed since it had been five years since her family had last seen or heard anything of the sort. A few hours later, someone busted the door down. Bandits came trampling in, taking her brother to become a thrall and burning her elven father alive. The house was also set to flames. Lyra had hidden in a charred cupboard, whimpering silently to herself, trying to ignore her human mother’s cries for help. Lyra had been too scared, and could only try to shut her ears to the final screams of her mother, pierced in the heart by a thrown javelin. And they might have been alive to this day…if not for her cowardice. And where was her brother Teren? Was he still alive? Probably not, since that was about two and a half years ago.
“I’m sorry Altamaru,” she whispered sadly, “If you knew…if you only knew…why…”

Charlette made her way through the under brush as quiet as she could though she was sure that a deaf man could hear her coming. She heard the elf call after her, "Wait up, miss." But she didn't stop. Soon she came to a small clearing. The grass was long and it swaid in the breeze. There was a large flat bolder in the center, which Charlette took a seat on. She looked up at the stars. they were so beautiful out here. She had seen the stars on clear nights in the city but they never looked like this. There they were just lights in the sky but out here they sparkled like gems. Charlette was not the type to take notice of natural beauty. A rose was just a flower, a sun set was just the beginning of night. But this... this was something else.
Just when she felt she could get lost in the night sky, she heard a howl. Then more. The sound of the pack of wolves sent shivers up her spine.
She looked back towards camp and saw the elf watching her. "What is that all about?" She asked trying to hide the panic in her voice. Just then screams could be heard from camp. by the Gods, what happened now!

Cassandra was starting to get worried, no one was coming and she heard noises in the woods around them, she then hears a call from a bird which is odd seeing that all the wolves are around. From the edge of part of the woods a Condor walks out and looks straight at her like it was telling her to follow.

She looks down at Maru for a moment "Maru stay here, rest I will be right back ok?"

She doesn't bother to wait for an answer, she gets up and walk to where the condor disappeared into the woods. She walks a little ways in, and finds a wolf caught in a bunch of branches of the trees. It is almost like they are holding him there, she looks around and then hears the condor again and sees it by the wolf.

As the wolf tries to nip at the condor, Cassandra starts reaching out her hand to it as if she was going to try to get it out of there. She shakes her head though and then reaches for her sword instead taking it out quickally and slashing at the wolf cutting its head off. Fire flairs in her eyes "I understand now my lord Sargonnas."

A couple minutes later she comes out of the woods and back over to Maru, placing a hand on the ground closing her eyes then opens them "I have set up a barrier around all of us, we should be safe until we can leave."

Mina woke up, feeling a terrible ache in her heart. She had never felt anything like it but knew instinctivly that it was from the power. She closed her eyes and let her spirit be pulled along by the magic, leaving her body back at the camp.
The shimmering form that her soul took on was not unlike her physical form. The only difference was the ivy vine tattoos that ran over her vaporous flesh. She let herself be carried along by the tug.

While a burst of tremendous fire brightened the night, originating from the forest, the body of Nevercae appeared a few feet from the stream’s rocky shore. Wolves howled in pain as the fireball exploded violently.

Oh the wolf man would hate that but Nevercae was sure he wouldn’t have to deal with the barbarian’s brain-dead behavior anymore. The Silvanesti elf was chuckling slightly as he lowered his arms from the casting. “What?” he muttered, turning over his shoulder to look at the couple. “I’m just trying to protect your little escapade.”

“Oh,” Nevercae turned back, adding, “You may want to try and clean up a bit more. I think one of you is still dirty.” His emerald eyes flashed with light as he turned back towards the forest again. The Silvanesti’s red robes were shimmering with power too. Besides the invisible field of force before him, a faint golden aura and a violet haze surrounded Nevercae. He could not stay invisible forever, what fun was that?

We have been looking for you to get us out of here now, so why do you not do something productive like that rather then bothering the rest of us?" She said, fire in her eyes and her body shaking in rage.

You would do well to take your attentions inward and make a few decisions. I am Lunitari’s son, a balanced eye to a blind world. I sit upon a horizon but at least I do not jump from side to side of it as the whim suits me.”

Nevercae raised the wand he held between slender fingers, his voice remaining cold as ice and calmer than a frozen lake’s surface, “The fire in this wand can rival any anger you may summon but perhaps not the passions of love and romance that Altamaru values, and which you may discover if patience allows.” He glanced to Philandus and took a step towards the woman, his eyes returning to hers. “Now back down.”

The Silvanesti snorted and shrugged, as he looked to the haversack on his back and his robes. “Effiwen,” he chanted the simple word of teleportation. He disappeared, leaving a slight haze in the air as if it were summer over a hot cobblestone road, leaving them alone to take care of this matter of which he had no clue.

Watching the woman with great curiosity the outsider decided to follow her. Taking a small step forward the mage whispered a small chant a slowly descended from the tree landing without a trace of sound. Scanning from left to right he made sure no one could was alerted to his presence. He was used to the black robe to veil his movements yet now he wore neutral red which was easy to find in the moonlight.

Looking up he no longer saw the black moon cradling the sky. He had betrayed his order, his god. For this Nuitari would have his soul to torment throughout time.

Shruging his shoulders at the thought he walked with haste after the young lady. As closed upon her he had to make up something to say, rolling his eyes he spoke.

"Dear lady, do you have a warm fire I may enjoy for the night."

Charles drew his sword and stabbed at them, but it was too late as she lay in a bloody mass before him. "Tell them...that Lyra was here," she mouthed, then was still.

Charles gave the woman a strange look, then headed off again, seeing a mage and another woman talking.

Cassandra turns to Mina "What is going on?" She notices that she is talking to the wolf, very much ignoring her. She sighs "Fine what ever, come back to camp when you want to. Perhaps Parin had the right idea leaving here." The last part she said mumbling to herself. She walks off leaving the girl behind, more then sure she could take care of herself. On her way back to camp she hears voices though, coming from another path not to far from where she was. It was Charlette and Philandus, she had just let go of him and now they were talking. A tightening feeling was felt in Cassandra's chest, her hands ball into fists "I should have known, two can play at this game." She says softly, a hard smile crossing her face.

Charlette rubbed her arms as ashiver went up her spine. She had delt with bad people in her past. She had slept with one eye open and her back to the wall. But she had never felt more scared in all her life, like she did tonight. She felt like she had no control over anything that could happen to her out here. The protection that Philandus offered was kind but would only bring her more trouble in the long run.
It was much easier when Parin was still about. Cassandra's teasing anoid Charlette to no end, but it wasn't fatel. and she was sure if she walked into camp with Philandus. "On second thought, I'll be fine, Honest. You go back to camp. I think I just need some time to think... alone."

Settling down with her back to a larg oak tree, and with a dagger in hand, Charlette closed her eyes for the night.

If she willed a rock to lift from the ground it would do it. If she willed a man's heart to explode in his breast then it would be so. Though the second took far more energy, she could still do it. The pain of the death would fall on her though, it was all that kept her magic in line, a block put there by the Gods of magic when she was but a babe. it was they also that joined her to Mina and put her to sleep.
Rose turned her attention to Shakti, pushing a lock of dark red hair out of her face. Unles the sun hit it just right people thought her hair was simply black. It was another way to tell between her and Mina. "What do you think?" She asked the wolf.

Lyra stared at the night stars as she wonders how did she escape death… but then she realizes that she did not escape death at all she only delaying. Long after her mother and father were murder she was in a void of sadness and grief. She had shame in her soul a taint not easily removed. She was lost child… until she met the Theodore family as they accepted her as one of there own. Their daughter Tia was the closest thing she had to a sister, Tia was full of joy and happiness that she too became more open to the world as it turns. Ledin was noble and bold just like a famous hero, he too been kind to her as well.
But there was only one that touches her heart so dear… Altamaru, she always remember as a goody goody hero wanna-be, but that what she love about, a boy full of dreams.
“Oh no….” a voice whispered.
Lyra turned her head slightly to the side and saw Altamaru standing stunned. She forced a smile at him knowing what she must do before she goes. He rushed to her and knelt beside and picked her up in his arms. Lrya stared at his eyes as the slowly turned to black as night.
“I can heal you Lyra….” he whispered.
“No… it’s to late. I rejected the healing from you, Maru,” She shook her head and closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of his body.
“So this much be how Mina feels, she so lucky…”

Why won’t it work? Why can’t my healing work. It worked on Cassandra but why not Lyra.
“I must go soon… but I just wanted to tell you that I love you… I wanted to tell you but I was so afraid. I’m not afraid any more…”
Tears run down Altamaru eyes as they dropped on Lrya face he couldn’t bare it any more, because he finally realize that he loved her too… but it was too late… he gave his heart, love and soul to Mina and only Mina.
“Maru before I go would you do me one thing?” she asked sweetly as she held his hand. “Would you please call me Lady just once?” as she smiled at him and lean her head on his chest.
“Lady Lrya….” He sobbed as he felt her life force pass away. His body shook and his finger tingle as Lrya rested peacefully. Something boiled inside and rage he never felt since his sister died. He heard a wolf howl near by and footsteps getting close to him, as
something finally snapped in him. He opened his eyes staring at the wolf rushing at him. As his eyes were no longer black and quickly turned red, he stood up drawing his sword, the Sword of Seals. The wolf jumped and lunged at him, Altamaru strike at the wolf with all the rage in his heart……….

Rose's eyes widened in sudden pain. It felt like her heart was being torn from her chest. She fell to her knees, clutching her chest.
Rose! What's wrong?! Shakti asked, rubbing against her side.
"My heart..." she gasped. "feels as if it's breaking." Her entire body trembled in pain. No magic or injury she had known before had been able to cause this kind of pain. In the back of her mind one of Mina's thoughts came to the surface. it was a memory of her childhood when one she cared for, her brother had died of the plague.
So that's what it is. Heartache. I've never felt such pain before. Rose thought.
It's the magic. Mina tied both of you to some squire. Maybe something's wrong with him. Shakti offered, trying to comfort her friend as much as she could.
Rose remembered him. Altamaru. She had come to him and told him of Mina's true feelings...as well as her own. So that was why. "Shakti we have to help him." Another spasm of pain surged through her body. she curled up in a ball and clenched her teeth until it passed.
shakti huddled next to her to keep her warm in the cool air. Don't you dare die on me Rose. Don't you dare. You have a job to do. she thought angrily as the girl passed out. She looked at the others. Bring a blanket to keep her warm.

Altamaru quicky drew out his repeating cross bow and fired as the bolt flew past Sir Philandus head and piecing through a body of a wolf that jumped and lunged a Philandus' back, the wold flew back to the ground lying at his side. Altamaru walked pass by him and step on the wolfs neck snapping the bone. He then handed the repeating crossbow to Cassandra.
"Here Lady Cassandra your more better than with the crowsbow than I am," he whispered."

He look at the sunrise as it light refected from the lake giving out the beautiful colour of orange and red. Then he became to sing a elven song of departure to the next world.

Chapter Three
Behind Solamnia lines

Rose blinked and looked around. She leaned lightly on Maru's shoulder to keep herself steady as she was still recovering from her earlier experience. The countryside around her looked strange. The air was tingling with strange magic.Her ring fairly hummed with the power of the place. "So it has begun." She muttered.
"What's going on Maru?" She asked, trying her best to be as much like Mina as she could. After all it was Mina that he cared for...if he still cared.

Philandus felt the sorrow that Maru felt, he had felt the same way when Erwind was thought to be drowned in the sea. He subconciously stepped next to Cass and a placed his arm around her shoulders, he stood there awaiting the song to finish, but his mind was far away.

Feeling very uncomfortable about this whole thing.

Rose turned her azure eyes to Maru, ignoring Cassandra. She reached one of her delecate hands up and touched her ring his temple. "Maru calm down." The stone in the ring glowed dimly as a calming presence seemed to surround them. "Mina is safer if she's asleep. when my mission is complete i'll wake her again." She leaned in and kissed him lightly. "Relax."

Losing control over the situation Cassandra does the only thing she could, she rushes at Rose slamming into her and knocking her away from Maru. She falls on top of her and hold her down "Do not go near or touch Maru ever again if you value your life."

She only turns her hand bairly as if she was doing something, but nothing happened or atleast nothing anyone could see.

She reached out and placed her hand on the side of his head. "I can't awaken her and she would never let me harm you even if i wanted to. You will be able to talk to her though. Just give it time, until nightfall. Then i should be able to part with her as before."

Rose got up and followed him, her heart breaking all the way. She kept a blank expression, never letting her pain show. Her heart her like before only this time she was ready for it. Her own pain was much easier to deal with than Maru's though it hurt the same.
Shakti followed her. Suck it up Rose. Duty comes first before anything.
The girl nodded. "Duty, honor, pride. The three vows of the Guardians. I know love isn't among them but..."

Rose nodded and followed Maru in silence

Philandus stood rigid, as he saw Cass try so valiantly try to break Maru and Rose apart. He could only look on as his blood rushed to his head in anger and frustration, he knew she was only doing this to make him jealous. He saw Maru walk off followed by Rose; he called to the others, "Come on you lot, get moving we have to get to Solamnia quickly."
Philandus then walked passed Cass without looking at her, and continued passed Maru and Mina, he strode ahead of the group, leaving the others behind, lost in his thoughts and anger.

Cassandra rushes up to catch up with Phil, rather suprised that he didn't even bother with her. She walks next to him arms folding irritated look on her face "Now really you do not have to be so rude about it, we are all walking as fast as we can. Not like any of us want to stay here any longer then we have to."

"I for one, want to get back to Solamnia in a hurry, where as you lot wouldn't mind pinning each other to the floor and threatening each other", said Phil huffly.

Haven't you noticed the change that had come over Mina I was only trying to protect a friend that I kind of care about. You are unbelieveable, and really he is a bit to young for me and even if I did want a young guy I think I would find someone better suited to me then Maru. AND while we are on this topic anyways what was with you and Charlette?" She looks at him accusingly.

"So you are admitting that you have been deliberately trying to make me jealous? First of all it wasn't the thing with Altamaru is was just that was the thing that broke my threshold. Second there is nothing going on with Charlette and I, I told you before that you were the only one for me, and that hasn't changed", his breathing was heavy and quick, his anger slightly declined now that he had got it off his chest, and now his brain wasn't working anymore.

Finding herself blocked into a corner now, all she can do it try to get out of it "I, well. I wasn't trying to make you jealous so much as trying to make you hate me I think. Then I will not be as upset when I lose them. That is why I am working so hard to push you away, because I know in the end I am going to hurt you. Whether it is death or heartache I don't know, do not get involved with me as Parin says I am just a means to and end." Tears in her eyes her head hanging low, she only lets out a small laugh finally realising what Parin had ment all along.

Philandus' shoulders relaxed, his face dropped and the redness in his face left, he stepped forward and hugged Cass deeply, while wispering in her ear, "I told you before, and I will probably keep having to tell you this. I love you Cass, I will never leave you, and I will always be there for you", he released his hug and looked into her eyes, with his hands on her shoulders. "I would have thought by now you would have realised that I am not going to leave you, you know how stubborn I can be", he said with a smile.

Philandus kept hold of her with one hand and moved her chin with the other hand, so that Cass' face was facing his, "It is that simple, why fight it? Are you forgetting that I am a Knight of Solamnia, I could be sent out on a mission and killed at any moment, just as you could be. We are both in the same boat, only I choose to have all my free time with the woman I love."

Cassandra closes her eyes for a moment, then opens them looking deep into his. All the sadness and the pain she has hidden over the years behind her dark demenor can be seen in her eyes. She takes his hands off her chin and shoulder, and takes them into her own hands. She looks down at their hands for a moment then back into his eyes "That is just it Philandus, I cannot lose anymore that I love. My heart cannot take it, that is why i choose to be alone. It hurt to much and I cannot take the pain anymore."

Philandus began to feel tears welling up, he had been rejected before he would just laugh it off, but this was different. He moved his hands away from hers, his face unchanging he turned and walked slowly away in silence.

Cassandra lets her tears flow freely, part of her wanting to reach out for him but knowing it will not do either any good. She starts walking on slowly, afraid to look around and see how the others are looking at her. She is now along, isn't this how she had wanted it all along?

We travelled for several hours.... the wind blew gently towards and the sun grew blight as it warms our bodies. I'm almost home.... Solanthus... however Solanthus has change a great deal... even Solamnia has change. Many things have happen after the War of the Lance. Many people have no homes or food, crimes such as theft , murder, kidnapping are not un common now. Even people are starting to slow less loyality to the crown. There many things I most do when I reach there, how long was it been? Two years I think.
Altamaru reach over the hill and saw Solanthus.
"Were here... my home.... my playground... my responsablity.." we called out the group.

Rose followed in silence. she didn't see the city or any of her travelling companions. She sighed heavily. Shakti, what am i going to do?
You should forget about him. In a while this will all be over and then you will have to leave him anyway.

Skoll laughed, said, "Hie Hati, Were Parin be, ah?" Hati, a large grey wolf, sneezed, then shook his head. The dust of Solanthus irritated his nostrils. That and the stink of man-flesh.

Skoll laughed harder. It pleased him that his wulfbunde was frustrated. It would humble him.

Shaking his head, he slapped his thigh. "Hie, Hati, We must continue our search," he said. The Bundesphar walked towards the east gate of Solanthus, wulf at his side, humming a dirge as he smiled at the gentry and kicked the meek out of his way.

Cassandra gets a chill up her spine "What was that?" She stops and looks around, she senses something a wolf perhaps. She then notices Rose talking to that damn wolf. The wolf! she thinks to herself, she has been feeling strange since the incident with with Rose it has to be him. She cannot pick favorites when it comes to wolves now can she, not that she cares anymore.

She then raises up her arm with the crossbow Maru had given her in it, pointing it right at Shakti "Time to die wolf." She hits the trigger and send a bolt flying at the wolfs head.

[Calus]

Philandus saw Cass shoot the bolt at the wolf, he knew Shakti was good, she was linked to Mina. He swung his sword and drove it into the ground, just before the bolt pinged off the sword. "Wait Cass, Shakti is good."

Cassandra glairs over at Phil, pointing the crossbow at him "He is a wolf he is filth like all of them are, do not get in my way Phil or I will be forced to kill you to."

Phil looked at Cass, he had never had his life threatened before by her, "Are you ok Cass?"

She looks at him cold faced, her eyes dark and hiding her thoughts nothing of the Cassandra he loved is showing. She stands steady pointing the crossbow at him still "I said not to interfear with what I have set out to do, if you do I have to get you out of my way. And if killing you is the only way I shall do it."

[Calus]

Philandus then looked into her eyes, and saw nothing that belonged to his beloved Cass, his face fell. Phil took his sword out of the ground and stood in front of Shakti.

Cassandra watches Phil, inside of her crying out to him as she watches his face fall but nothing show through. She follows him with the crossbow "Very well then Wolf lover." After she says that she points and shoot at his leg.

[Calus]

Phil collapsed to the floor, holding his leg, he cried out in pain, and held his bloody hand out to Cass, as if to ask for her help; after all she was a cleric of Mishakal.

[prophacyks]

"You are truly pathetic, what do you want from me? I just shot you and now you want me to help you, get it through your delusional head. I will not help you." She scowels at Phil.

[Calus]

"You are a cleric of Mishakal, I told you before, she chose you, that means your powers are still present now as you haven't left", said Phil as he tried to staunch the blood.

[prophacyks]

"You are a fool Philandus, I turned my back on her she cannot help me now. And even if I did have those powers still, why would I bother to help the person I just shot?" She says cooly, looking around for a way to leave once the others decide to react to what has happened.

Charles watches cassandra and philandus with a wary eye behind a tree. but he steps on a twig and it snaps rather audibly.

Rose and Shakti both had tensed at the sound of the crossbow being fired. When the bolt hit Phil's sword Rose already had a shield of air, made harder than any metal by her magic, behind them.
It was aimed for you friend. Rose said looking down at the wolf.
Shakti shook herself. I know. What are we going to do about her?
I have an idea. Rose turned around and faced the woman. "Let's get one thing straight Cassandra. If Shakti dies then I die. And if i die so does Mina. I don't think Maru will be happy with you if you kill his girl." She smiled sarcastically and twitched her hand. The ball of white flame ignited the crossbow, turning it to cinders in seconds. "Think on that before you decide to try anything that foolish again." She turned on her heel and jogged to catch up with Maru, again lapsing into silence.

Cassandra grits her teeth watching the girl run off, she was really starting to annoy her. She decides to call after he though "Oh Rose good try but do not think that will even stop me, oh and my God has a message for his son. He say for him to watch his back, to not interfear in matter he cannot handle." She then turns, the ashes from the crossbow blowing away to reveal another one. It is black with some read writing and a drawing of a condor on it. She bows her head and chuckles "Thank you my lord, your generosity will not be waisted." She picks it up and then turns to the other that are still left there, specifically the bleeding Phil though "I do not need to be around the likes of you guys anymore, tell Rose this is not over though her wolf and her will die by my hands I promise that." With that she turns and starts heading west ward, looking for anything that may resemble an Inn.

[Damon Monticrystal]

Altamaru stopped as he looked back and saw Philandus a bolt in his leg and Cassandra leaving off heading west. He sighed and walked back to Philandus and started to heal him.

Rose chuckled. "She still thinks i serve only Nuitari. what a fool." She said quietly to Shakti.
The she-wolf shook herself. Yes that is very foolish of her. If she kills us though we go back to our peaceful slumber and the world will be taken over. She paused and looked at Rose. Remind me again why we're trying to save such idiots as her. I've forgotten.
Rose smiled a bit and looked over her shoulder at Cass picking up the new crossbow. "It seems our prey knows we are coming."
Yes and she's using the cleric's hatred against us...this could end badly.
"It could but i'm sure that it won't. It took all three gods of magic to bring us back and it's unlikely her god sent that. I just pray it's Limna's doing." She sighed and continued walking at Maru's heels. She was so close he could hear her if she whispered so she thought the next part to Shakti. And we're not doing this for Cassandra anyway. We'ree doing it for Altamaru.

Charlette woke up was the sun cleared the tops of the trees. She had slept all night and what must have been half the morning. Every bone in her body hurt. She felt groggy, and tired. As she stretched out the kinks of the night before, Charlette noticed something, or rather nothing. No voices, no camp fire, nothing. She ran into the camp that she had shared the night before and found it empty. There didn't seem to be any tracks leading in the opposite direction from which they had come, though Charlette wan't sure she would have know it if she had seen it. But what she did find horified her. The carcasses of wolves littered the area. Weather it was dumb luck that none of the animals had found her or Parintachin's doing, Charlette wan't sure, nore did she want to stand around and test eather theiry. All she knew was there was no doudt in her mind that Cassandra had something to do with her being left behind, and as she hiked on it the direction she hoped she would find Solace, Charlette swore she would someday find Cassandra and make her pay.

OOC: A little over the top no? I mean if your such a supreme bad arse, why are the other PCs needed? Also stealing other PCs props is a big negative. Examples: Like ursuping Cassandras god or bringing in another talking wolf or healing others. Find your own gimmick. Also You need to tone the "I AM STRONG BAD" crap down. Ruins the game dude.

OOC: Yep I kind of have to agree with Heron, that is a bit to much. All the Gods cannot seem to get together and agree on something to do with the world. And now you want them to have gotten together to get her out, kind of far fetched. And you can mess with just about anything having to do with my character, but messing saying that she isn't even dealing with the god she chose that just kind of bothers me. I am not trying to make trouble but, please tone it down a little bit.

IC: As Cassandra keeps walking she all of a sudden sneezes for no reason "Hmm, someone must be saying bad things about me." Shrugs her shoulders and moves on. She seems to keep getting this feeling of being watched, everytime she looks back she swears she sees some red, but can never find it. She then moves on a bit faster now getting a bad feeling inside of her, she then hears laughter and sees two figures in front of her a ways away. One seems to be on four legs, she holds her cross bow infront of her and aims for the wolf.

OOC: Sorry if i offened anyone i'll try to tone it down.

Rose stopped in mid-stride. Something was wrong. Suddenly she doubled over, feeling as if a hot knife had been plunged into her stomach. Her eyes went wide and she gasped at its intensity. It felt as if someone was sucking her soul out through her stomach.
She culed into a ball, shivering as sweat ran down her face. "No..." she moaned in agony. "don't....anything but that!" She wimpered like a child as her power was sucked from her.
lying there on the ground she felt more alone than she had ever felt. Even when she had lain with her soul bared before the gods she still had her magic. Now she was alone and helpless. All she had was Mina's weak magic which was useless for fighting.
"Why?" she whispered. "Why take this from me now?" She knew the answer. It was because she broke the rules. She would, as she did before, have to earn their favor back with blood. Only this time she had no magic to aid her.

OOC: Betta? she's normal again...ish, no more god-like powers and all that. besides ya'll are right it does take all the fun out of it.
