The taveren seemed crowded, but that was what she was looking for. therew was bound to someone in here willing to pay good steel for a strong sword arm and a good aim. it had been a spare year, and she needed to make up for it before winter set in.
sarya swept the room with a quick glance. there weren't any empty tables, so she made her way to the back of the room. if she could find a quiet spot to listen in on a few conversations, she might be able to find someone willing to pay for her sword.
at the last table in the back of the room, there was a stranger sitting alone. he looked deep in thought. hopefully his thoughts were of how much he needed a warrior, and how much he was willing to pay.

"hello there, stranger. mind sharing your table?"

Brought back from deep thought, Umm No I don’t mind You can sit here if you want. (She doesn’t seem to have a lot of money, ide say barely anoff to get her thru the next couple of weeks, by looking at the thin money bag on her hip). Excuse me sir, The barmaid hands him the key for the room, thanks, So you’re a half elf, what are your doing around these parts.

"thanks, stranger. i'm looking for somebody willing to pay well for a bodyguard or hired warrior, to be blunt. my sword is quick and my aim is true. i'm an asset in any battle, but i choose my causes in my own way. if you know anyone with a worthy cause and a heavy purse, show me thew way."

with that quick introduction she sat across the table from the stranger and eyed him carefully.

"you have a name, stranger?"

As he walked away, sarya thought it was a little strange that he was so quick to leave. he seemed... preoccupied. maybe she would stick around and try to figure out what it was.
in the mean time, she decided to order mug of ale and scout the room.

Wiping the last beads of sweat from his brow, he pushed open the door to the Wayreth Inn, sending a small breeze inside. Blood ran from a small cut on his left arm, but he took no notice, nor did he care. Stepping inside, he noticed that the patrons of the room were mostly amused in their own personal worlds, not paying attention as he walked inside. He turned to close the door behind him, glad that he was away from the fight, away from the danger. Sitting down at a table near the door, he rests his sword against the edge of the table and places a small bag of coins on the table. A young bar maid notices the new patron and approaches.

"What can I get you?"
"A mug of ale will do me fine, thank you."

With that she left, only to return a short time later with mug in hand. He handed her two silver pieces and took a quick drink. Setting the mug down, he leaned back in the chair to rest for a while. Noticing the cut on his arm, he pulled a clean piece of cloth from a small pouch and wiped the blood away. With that, he took another drink of his ale and nestled down to let his aching body have some time to regain its composure.

Brought back from deep thought on his work, he looekd up to see a young man enter the inn, with a cut on his arm and a dagger and belt on his hip, Going back to work on his arrows, .....As soon as thses are done im leaving....he thoguht. He heard the russtle of the mans steps and thne slowaly he went back into a deep state of thinking on his arrows.

As he enjoyed his first mug of ale, he took time to scan the room, hoping to find anyone whom he might be familiar with. There were not many patrons at the inn for the time being, but one caught his eye. As he watched in silence he noticed that this certain fellow was quietly working on a set of arrows at his table and was also apparently in deep concentration. At first the fellow seemed familiar but the closer he looked the more he realized it wasn't so. Intrigued by the man's precise work on the arrows, he approached in an attempt to converse.

"Sorry if I intrude, but I could not help but notice how deep into your work you are. These are a fine bundle of arrows, handcrafted by yourself for purposes unknown to me. I am Hexum. May I ask who you might be?"

"Greetings then, Darmiel. I had thought you were a familiar face when I first noticed you working so diligently on your arrows. Are you preparing for something?"

As he spoke, he looked intently at the arrows, noticing how every notch and point was made with such perfection. There must be a reason for such work, he thought to himself.

Sarya couldn't help but overhearing the two men at the next table. this hexum was obviously a warrior, and darmiel was obviously preparing for something. getting up from her table, she tried to appear nochalant as she walked over to the two. perhaps if one of them needed a sword, and was willing to pay for it, she needed to be in on this conversation. and from the way darmiel was concentrating on those arrows, he must be preparing for something important.

"I was on my way from Solace to Porliost and somehow got lost in the woods. I was ambushed by... well, I honestly don't know who, but thank the gods I'm still standing."

Looking at the arrows on the table, he realized that Darmiel had yet to answer his question.

"Are you questing?" he asked. "These arrows must be of use for something."

As he spoke he noticed a female inn patron moving in closer. Thinking nothing more of it, he turned his attention back to Darmiel.

Yes they are of use for somthing, Im seeking the tower of high sorcery, I need them to echnatce these arrows so they can penatrate near anything, Im heading towards whats known as death lake now, were my homeland lays buried theres rumor of a draogn and still patrols of bandits and knights in the area, im going to go take back wat is my peoples.

Hexum
11-14-2004, 03:48 PM
He listened intently to Darmiel's words and tried to understand why one man would want to attempt to do so much by himself.

"How do you intend to do so much with just a small bundle of arrows? I find that any danger you run into in these parts is taken care of with a quick sword hand. But this dragon, and these knights... I do not understand. Of whom do you speak?"

"I am not much for fighting with bow and arrow. I have always been honorable to my sword. But as you say, it is never a bad thing to learn a new trade. Hard to say when it might come in handy."

He took a seat at the table with Darmiel, ready to learn the work of his new acquaintance. As he sat though, he still caught the eye of the female bar patron only a few short feet away. Try as he might he was never able to catch her directly staring, but it felt to him that she was looking for someone or something.

first you must find the right wood, it must be thin but strong, pulling out a peice of wood about half inch wide and twelve inches long he handed it to hexum, taking out a dagger he handed ot hexum, after that he pulled outa pointed tip and four feahters, The trick aobut a good arrow is the shaft and feathers, the feathers should be medium size and dry, Now take the dagger...........He went into descusion of how to make the arrow it took aobut ten minuts but by the time hexum was done there was a new arrow just as good as the ones in darmiels quiver,....good job he handed the finished project to hexum, that arrow you should keep not to use but if your ever in elven land and the leves find you just show them this and thell show you safe passage, it is also worht a nice couple of steels, And by the way that women is staring at you, i think you should go see what she wants.

"Are you sure? She looks as if she is just taking some time to relax."

Entering the forest and following a small trail, he noticed that there were almost no noises. No birds chirping, no stream gurgling through the woods, and no wind in the leaves. The last time he had been here he was but a young man of sixteen.

"This place still makes me wary. I have never been one to trust magic as much as I trust steel. Keep your eyes open, both of you..."

11-18-2004, 02:34 PM
sarya laid a hand on her sword, but did not draw it. the sudden appearance of the forrest had caught her off gaurd as well.

Hexum
11-18-2004, 09:04 PM
He looked around as the darkness of the forest lay before him. Noticing that Sarya was also thinking twice about the magic held within these deep woods, he slowed his thoughts some. At least I have another sword arm by my side incase something happens, he tought to himself. Darmiel had the arrows with him, but Hexum had not seen nor heard the clank of any type of steel weapon Darmiel may be carrying for protection.

"Once we find this tower, will we be staying long? The likeness of this place displeases me greatly. One never knows what to expect around these parts."

OOC: Hope you don't mind that I jump in... :D

Name: Amimiquai Bleeder
Race: Half elf, half kender
Age: 43
Job: Mage
Quest: Keeping alive

ICC: She watched the warriors approach from her position in one of the enchanted trees. Who in all the world had let THEM in? Lazily rolling of the branch, she quite effeciently blocked the path of the three with her thin frame.
"What do you seek in our forest?" she wondered bluntly, laying a heavy sarcasm on the word "our". Not all mages accepted her as one of them, not even the redrobes. A real pity. For them.

Hexum
11-19-2004, 08:23 PM
The figure appeared out of nowhere and before he even had time to think about it, his sword had been partially pulled from his sheath. Realizing his quick movement, he slowed his pulse and returned the sword to the sheath, noticing that this figure appeared to be rather small... perhaps a wondering kender. She then spoke to their small group, appearing to be intrigued as to their entering the forest. He took a step forward and replied.

"We seek the Tower, for our own personal reasons. Who are you and why have you sprung so quickly upon our group?"

He looked more intently at the small female and realized she was quite a site to his eyes. Appearing to be half elf and half kender, something he had never seen before.

AmimiquaiBleeder
11-20-2004, 04:17 AM
Noticing the warrior's puzzled glance, she smiled. It was not a pleasant smile. Not one that you would invite for tea.
"I keep watch. We've had a lot of rabble and even some renegades running around of late. Some even tried to attack the tower, which off course was their own fall and not ours, but it is so bothersome to clean away the bodies. I hope you understand." her smile got wider. "And since they seek any excuse to get me out of the tower - don't ask me why, I mean, who else should they blame when they loose things? - I am here." She bowed mockingly. "But you seem neither stupid nor powerful enough to attack the place, so I suppose I can lead your way."

Hexum
11-21-2004, 04:23 PM
"Who are you that we should trust to take us to this tower? You say you keep watch, but of what? Is this not a magical forest where things can be altered before your eyes? Perhaps you are not as you appear..."

He stared intently at her, watching her every movement, keeping his hand ready incase this was perhaps an ambush.

AmimiquaiBleeder
11-22-2004, 01:46 AM
She laughed at him.
"Always as distrustful, you warriors, are you not? Just like the mages. But nobody said that you should trust me. You just have no choice. I keep watch over the beloved tower, since there is nothing but magic and twisted dreams to find here except that, and I've got orders to kill anything that seems to me as if it has got hostile intents. And I say: If you won't follow my lead, you are hostile, and I'll kill you."
She tilted her head gently, and her face suddenly seemed to change the slightest bit. There was now an innocence in it that it had lacked some seconds ago. "Listen to me, warriors, I do not wish to harm anyone. I am Amimiquai of the redrobes, and thus I will not harm anyone if not harmed first. I cannot guaratie that the other mages will have the same outlook on things, I can only speak for myself, but lets not become enemies only for the sake of it. Follow me."
There was that slight change again...
"Follow me." she repeated. "Or kill me. Just do not waste my time."

Hexum
11-22-2004, 05:07 PM
Before moving an inch, he took his time to think things over. The other two stood and said nothing. If I am to get where I need to be, this is seemingly the only way to achieve my goal, he thought to himself. He took a step forward.

"Alright, I shall take your word for what it's worth. I will go forward with you. As for the other two, they must decide that themselves. What do you say?"

jeran
11-22-2004, 05:11 PM
This "creature" was making sarya very uncomfortable. It seemed to know more about this crazy magic forest than the two warriors did, and the mage was quiet as usual.
"alright then, as it seems we have no choice. we will follow. but i warn you now, we are both skilled with a blade. so be careful."

11-22-2004, 05:35 PM
OOC: Sadistic PLEASE don't be offended! I promise not to do anything crazy with Darmiel!! :)

The group began their walk into the woods, but Hexum was sure to never let his sword hand stray too far from the hilt of his blade. Having very little trust in the ways of magic, this introduction, so to speak, from their new guide was in no way helping to change his mind. Her appearance was still quite puzzling to him.

"You are the first half-elf, half-kender I have ever set eyes on. Quite an interesting match, I must say. If you don't mind me asking, how did this come about? It must be very rare..."

AmimiquaiBleeder
11-23-2004, 01:56 AM
"I don't think rare is really the word. Rather impossible." She smiled crookedly. "But it is hardly strange that you are surprised. Most people are. I know I am." One more smile, that soon faded from her face. "Oh, they fought, my parents. Fought to be accepted. Well, father did the fighting. My mother never really understood why they were all so angry, bless her. But it was all for nothing. Mother disappeared. The other elves supposedthat she must've wandered off somewhere, forgetting about her husband and child. Which was really pathetic, you have to admit."
She suddenly laughed, a bitter laugh that sounded the slightest bit like a whimper. "So was I brought up by elves; with a father mad with sorrow and the rest of them. I never knew who was responisble for what happened to my mother. Thus I was probably held and taken care of by one who had my mother's blood on his or her hands. Ain't life wonderful?" She did a piruette in mid-step, which ended in a cartwheel. "I would say that it was someone in father's familly though. Elves DO cherish life" - a teasing smile - "I bet you could tell. There are just some of them that cherish themselves even higher." One more hollow laughter.

"Well spoken!" Amimiquai said with a lop-sided grin. "And look here. A tower for the tired wanderers. And some amusement for the fretful kender, no doubt." These noble heroes obviously needs help from the heads of the orders, so I am sure you can take them. Won't you?" She gave him a stony gaze, and the elf nodded disdainfully, gesturing for the three to follow.
Amimiquai watched them, and sighed to herself. It WAS getting boring around here, and the dreariness of it bubbled in her soul like poison. Once again, she cursed her mixed ancestry.
Damnable.
But then she smiled. Why not? Seemed like... now, what was that word? Fun.

Baron took everything in... the kender-elf, the tower, the strange wizard..

"First, I want to clear this up. It's not that I do not trust mages so much as I do not understand them. I had a friend growing up who was intwined into the arts and when he took his test, things went wrong. After that, the entire art of magic has been a push over to me. I mean no offense to you Amimiquai or to your mage brethren. I simply have my reasonings for disliking certain ideas and actions of the ways of magic."

He hoped this would clear things up a bit, perhaps make things a little more open amongst his fellow adventurers.

This was all by far the strangest adventure Sarya had ever been a part of. She stood still and silent for a moment, trying to take everything in, and trying to loosen her grip on her sword.
when she could speak, she turned to Baron.
"I'm afraid I don't even have your limited experience with magic. The only mages I have ever encountered have been on the business end of my sword. But for the sake of whatever it is we're after, I will try to be tolerant."

The mage transported them to some kind of hall, In the middle of the room was all three orders head of white, head of red, and head of black. They gestured for them to approach, Looking up at themhe said, Thank you for letting me and my companions go through the forest, What i came here to ask was can you enchant my arrows so that they can penatrate Dragon Scale, pulling out the four dozen arrows he handed them to the order, They all put out there hands and there was a great flash of light, Looking up the arrows were gone. Darmiel we had message of your coming those arrows pointing to the arrows that had reapeared in his case can peirce the dragon you are fighting, The head of the red robes walked foward oh and about your transportation to your homeland, he spread some salt in a circle on the floor around the companions, ok stay still he said there was a flash of light and they were in a forest near a broken city. Everything happened in a flash, it seemed to Hexum. The new settings, the forest and the old, run down city lay ahead of him. This must be the place that Darmiel was talking about, he thought to himself. He looked around, not recognizing any of his new surroundings.

"Is this your home, Darmiel?" he asked.

"My regrets, I was not meaning to bring up bad blood." he said.

He continued to survey the surroundings, not liking what he saw. There was no telling what may be lurking in the remains of the buildings before him.

Name: Malin
Height:5 "8"
weight:95 lbs.
Race:Elf
Age:64
Class:Wizard (white)
Armor/weapons. None
Other:spell component pouches, white robes

Appearance: Tall, blonde hair, wearing the white robes of a follower of Solinari, with deep green eyes.

IC: As Malin watched the encounter with the heads of the orders she thought it quite amusing, and even more to her surprise was when they vanished in a cloud of smoke, leaving the room. Malin had longed for an adventure for so very long she could almost taste it! She was not going to let this chance get away from her. She immediately went over to her crystal ball and started her scrying. She easily found the adventures, they were not so very far away anyway. She took a couple of minutes to gather her things, then she walked over to her enchanted mirror and began the spell. She visualized the adventurers in her mind, brought it into clear focus, then stepped through the enchantment, right onto the soft grass in the clearing. In front of her stood the adventurers......

Tracing the three's flight through the corridors of magic, Amimiquai smiled widely. Old Qualinesti! Always a pleasure...
Muttering the words of magic to herself, she easily followed their winding path through unknown dimentions, landing - as was her habit - in a tree. She noticed Malin standing just a bit from the adventurers, eagerness burning in her eyes, and shook her head with a smile. She would get her taste of advetures, alright.
Swinging from the branch she was perched on, she landed before Hexum's feet.
"Home sweet home!" She sang with a broad, mirthless smile. "Really, talk aout that this place needs some kind of an architect. Or a forest-fire."
"Hey, white-robe, quit skulking about!" she called over her shoulder. "We need all hands we can get, it seems."

She threw over an almost-empty money-bag to Sarya. "Sorry. Hands have their own life." Her smile was big and self-ironical, tinged with a slight melancholy bitterness.

Hello there, Malin said to the group of adventurers. I was hoping i might join you in your quest, I understand it includes something about a dragon? Oh well it does not matter anyway. I have been hungering for adventure for so long, it seems like an eternity. May I ask where you plan on going?

"Greetings" Hexum said to the new acquaintances. "I see you have followed us, Amimiquai, along with a fellow white robe, I presume? Always nice to have a larger group, especially if we are going to be opposing a dragon."

He was trying to forget his old thoughts on the ways of magic in an attempt to be a bit friendlier and open to his new companions. Hopefully they would understand, he thought to himself.

"Naberelyhm. Such a pelasure." She nodded with a caustical smile to one of the elves, who only gave her a stern and slightly disapproving look back. Laughing to herself, she ignored the rest of them, finding a bed that was not occupied and sitting down. Malin was already asleep, obviously tired after the transportation-spell. Amimiquai could feel the certain ache in all muscles that signaled tirerdness after a spell herself, but would not sleep yet. It was long since she had been in her homeland, and she wanted to sort her thought out before turning in.
The mercenary woman looked severely uneasy, and was still clutching her sword.
"Nothing to fight here but bad dreams" Ami said with a yawn. "But then, those are usually worse than cold steel, are they not?"

"Thanks for that" Ami mumbled to the sleeping woman, but not really out of anger as much as habit. She could very well understand the nervousity of the human. She felt something similar herself. Everyhting about the Qualinesti she had now come home to was litarally screaming "WRONG!". Even though she had never felt attached to this place, never felt safe or at home, there was now something that she... feared. Sighing to herself and muttering something inaudiable about "Really needs a forest-fire..." she dosed off into sleep.

Malin awoke, to find everyonen else sleeping peacefully. A single candle burned in the middle of the room, casting eerie shadows along the wall. she did not know how much time had elapsed, but it must have been awhile. Malin slipped out into the main room and asked a couple of elves that happened to be awake if there was anyway she could slip outside. One of them said follow me, and led her to a ladder that disappeared into the ceiling. He muttered a word and the illusion disappeared, revealing a starry, full-moon night. She gave her thanks to the elf, who only nodded in reply. She climbed the ladder and set under the stars, thinking how odd it was that she had come to this place that she barely even knew.....

Although he had succesfully dozed on and off for the night, sleep did comfort him. He awoke to see that only Malin was missing from the group. Sitting up in bed, he looked around the room to make sure no one would wake if he left. Walking towards the door, he opened it quietly and stepped out. A young elf was just outside the door.

"Sorry to disturb you, but is there per chance anything to eat around here? I realize this is probably an odd request but it's been almost a full day since I last enjoyed a meal."

The elf waved a hand, speaking no word, and Hexum followed him into a room down the hall. Inside there were dried meats, breads, and cheeses.

"Eat as much as you like. Tomorrow will be a long day for us all" the elf said.

Giving his thanks, Hexum ate his fill and returned to the hallway, and then to his bed. Perhaps sleep would come more peacefully on a full stomach. Before he knew it, dreams of gold and treasure were dancing in his head.

"Goblins are worthless" he said, and spat on the ground. "I've killed many in my day. This will only add to the total."

His pulse tensed and his heart raced rapidly. As the goblins approached he pulled a hidden dagger from his belt and made one quick move with his arm, sending the dagger through the air and hearing it hit with a sickening thud sound into the middle of one of the goblins foreheads. The beast screamed and fell to the ground. The others came at the group, weapons drawn. He knew their weaknesses though. If too many of their group fell, the rest would retreat like cowards.

OOC: That was pretty fast for killing 8 of those guys! lol

Two goblins came at Hexum, their clubs in hand. With a quick swing, the first goblin tried to hit him in the ribs, but missed wildly and almost fell to the ground. Hexum responded with a swing of his own, landing it, and connecting with the second goblins left shoulder. The beast let out a squeal of pain and backed up. The first goblin came at him again with another large swing, this time connecting and knocking the sword from Hexum's hand. He turned to his left and engaged, as he knew the second would be struggling to fix it's open wound.

No sword in hand, he ran towards the goblin and with all his might took a huge swing of his fist, connecting and breaking the creatures nose. Blood began to flow heavily down its face, sending it into a frenzy. It began swinging like a mad man, missing Hexum left and right. Dodging the blows, he took a quick step to the left and managed to grab a hold of the beasts arm, snapping it at the elbow, and then kicked it's legs out from under it, sending it to the ground hard. The beast cried out in pain, but it was the last sound it would make. Finding a nearby rock, Hexum brought it down on the creatures face, ending it's life. Jumping to his feet quickly, he spotted the second one, still nursing it's wounds. He picked up his sword and charged.

He caught the second off guard and easily dispursed of the foul being. With one quick motion his sword penetrated the beasts stomach, before it knew what was going on. He pulled quickly on his sword, retrieving it from the creatures body, and it fell to the ground.

Two more down, fourteen to go.

Two goblins were on her, ready to kill her without hesitation. Before they could even take another breath of air, Hexum had arrived in deathly fashion. With a quick swing of his blade, he severed the head of one of the foul beings and the body fell to the earth with a thug. The second turned, swinging it's rusted mace at his head. Managing to block the swing with his sword, he grabbed the shaft of the mace and delivered a quick blow to the goblins face with his fist, sending it backwards. Stunned, the goblin let go of it's weapon. Without thinking twice Hexum threw the mace directly at the goblin, connecting with it's face again, the head of the mace hitting the beast with enough force to knock it unconscious. It fell backwards, with a groan.

The sickening smell of burnt flesh soon filled the air, almost enough to make one sick. He jumped to his feet and watched as the three burning goblin carcasses keeled over, dead as can be.

Sarya was finally facing something she understood: Battle! The clash of swords brought a grim smile to her lips. She quickly circled behind one of the creatures as it was bearing down on Darmiel and Foku. Once she was behind him, he soon found her sword sticking through his back. Planting a foot beside her sword, she kicked the lifeless body from the end of her weapon. Seeing it's commrad disposed of so quickly, The last remaining creature let out a bellow and charged. Sarya simply stood her ground until it was almost on top of her. As it swung it's sword in a downward slash, she sidestepped and sliced her own sword across it's ribs. Howling in pain, the beast grabbed it's ribs, just in time for Sarya to run her sword cleanly through it's neck.
As the body fell lifelessly to the ground, she wiped her sword on the grass. Noticing that Ami had fallen unconscious from her perch in the tree, Sarya rushed over to check for injury. Amy seemed to be uninjured, simply exhausted from her spellcasting. Looking up from the little elf's side, she spoke to Darmiel, who was being tended to by Foku.
"I assume there are more of these creatures? With you injured and Ami unconscious, I don't think we should wait here for them. Where are we headed?"

OOC: Sorry guys. Stupid real life getting in the way of my posting! :D

Sarya nodded, knowing Darmeil could no longer hear her. She quickly lifted Ami and layed her gently next to Darmiel. Foku seemed to have the situation well in hand.
Sarya walked out about 20 yards, and made a full circle around the battle spot. There seemed to be no indication of other threats, for the moment at least. Hurrying back to the others, she saw that Foku had managed to bind Darmiel's wounds as well as possible. Ami seemed to be, of all things, sleeping peacefully. It must have been the kender side of her that allowed her to sleep after such a fight.
"I see no sign of others, but it still isn't a good idea to stay here for long. If there is anything out there, it surely heard us fighting. We will want to move on as quickly as possible."

foku politely asks sarya to get a couple of really long sticks and sends hexon to get some vines. she takes the sticks and ties them together in to two little beds. she had hexon help her put darmiel on one while sarya put ami on the other. they carried both bed till they wre away from the danger they just faced. Then darmiel started to come to his senses. As sarya was still trying to get ami to come to hers. Foku walked to Darmiels side and asked if he was alright. He quietly replied that he thought so and asked what had happened to Ami

The battle was over and all were recovering from the scars of battle. Although he had been lucky enough not to suffer any serious wounds, some of his comrads had not shared the same luck. Darmiel had been hurt rather seriously, and though Ami had only been slightly injured from her spell casting, Hexum knew that if any other fights were to be waged before his friends could be healed, there may be problems.

"Perhaps it would be a good idea if we camped for the night," he said. "I realize we are in hostile territory, but with the magic we have I'm sure there can be some way to hide us for the most part... and if need be, I'll keep watch. My strength is still intact and my sword arm will not fail me."

He checked on both Darmiel and Ami to see if they were okay, and waited to see what the others though.

Her head feeling like it had meen stepped on by a troll, Ami slowly came to her senses. "Ow." She was cold, and her muscles ached, but it was nothing strange with that, simply the normal bodial collapse when it realized that the forces of magic were not there anymore.
"Does anybody have any willowbark" she asked with a suffering sigh, sitting up.

"You guys climb first," he said. "Things are looking to be safe, but just incase I'll stay down and be the last to climb."

He looked at Ami, still trying to regain her composure after the spellcasting.

IC: As the troup had battled Malin had slipped away, noticing a faint russle in the trees about twenty feet into the forest. She had cast a spell, making herself silent, and followed wahtever it was. As the creature stopped in a clearing it joined up with two of its friends and now Malin could see that they were draconians. Cursing herself for being so careless she turned around to find the others when her spell wore out and she stepped on a patch of dead leaves. Immediately the draconians turned around and let out a low hiss, and then as malin prepared a fireball she let out a scream......

The scream came from behind him, and he turned quickly, drawing his sword.

"Get everyone up, quickly!" he said, taking a step forward.

Cursing himself for not being able to see better in the shadows of the forest, he approached where the sound had come from. He three small humanoid figures not too far from where he stood. Draconians. He could recognize them if he was blind. But it was not they who had let out the scream. They had not seen him yet and so he held his ground, keeping hidden behind a tree. Was that another lone figure he was seeing? It certainly was, but this one was not a draconian. Human or elven, he could tell from the shape. He recognized the face... MALIN! Sword in hand, he trecked towards her, watching as the draconians turned towards him.

"Are you okay?" he asked outloud, being sure to keep himself ready for the newly found opponents. His sword sat heavy in his hand. Another battle was luring only a few yards away.

Cursing vehemently to herself, Ami ran to the foot of the three where Foku was clinging helplessly, drawing a long dagger as she ran. No time for spells now, not if she wanted to stay concious. She had always cheated a little when it came to the non-weapons decree for mages; in her hands, the dagger looked a sword.
She hoped she wouldn't have to u´se it, since that would mean that it would already be too late for those of her companions that had rushed into battle.

Sarya had never seen a draconian before, and was visibly shaken. These creatures were entirely new, and she had not yet learned thier weaknesses. She tried to watch how they moved, to see if she could find a way to destroy them. Darmiel had mentioned something happening to thier bodies when they were killed. She wasn't sure what he meant, but she wasn't taking any chances. With half of thier party wounded, she would stand her ground until she saw an opening.

The three draconians stood and stared at Hexum. He stood his ground, holding his sword in hand. He recognized them, as he had fought draconians on more than one occasion. These were Kapaks.

"Darmiel, I know their kind. These are Kapaks, the ones who melt into acid." he yelled back to Darmiel, and the rest of the group. "Their acid will only effects your skin, it won't hurt your weapons. Be careful of their blades though, as their swords are usually coated in it."

The draconians drew near. Hexum knew how to fight them, knew that it was no easy task. Each draconian would have to be engaged by at least one of the companions if the battle was to work in the groups favor. The biggest of the group walked towards Hexum, a smirk on his face.

"Ssstupid humans!" he said, mockingly. "You think you ssstand a chance againsst usss?" he said with a laugh.

The creatures were only five feet away now. Hexum prepared for battle. With a quick dash he charged at the biggest of the group. His first wing connected, but hit steel on steel. He kicked the draconian in the gut, sending him backwards a bit.

"HURRY!!!" he yelled. "I need help, NOW!"

Foku sat there and thought for a second. As she could see Darmiel was a little bit upset about the forgetting of the wedding. It seemed so long ago. After there main home land was destroyed they both lost eachother and ended up going seperate ways. It was just by chance or maybe even destiny that they found eachother under the circumstances. Or even found eachother at all. Then a yell from Hexum disrupter her thoughts. They were going into battle with the newly found creature from which Foku saw looked quite ordinary to her. They were struggleing none of them wanting to be touched. She realized that possiably something would happen if they did. Then she remebered hearing about the acidic beasts when she was younger. Then quickly ignoring the pain and not even thinking she climbed down to help them. She may not have her weapons with her but she had a few other tricks up her sleeve. But oh she knew what was comming if Darmiel caught her before hand.

Sarya heard Hexum call for assistance. That was all the reason she needed to brandish her sword and charge at the nearest Draconian. The lizard-like beast hissed and swung a wicked looking saber in the general direction of Sarya's head, but luckily it missed the mark. During the follow through, it turned sideways, giving her a clean shot at it's back. Though usually not one to hit an opponent in the back, She swung hard nonetheless. The beast wore a strange type of leather armor, but her blade managed to hack a deep gash through it and into the flesh of the draconian. It howled with rage. Sarya noticed that the creatures blood sizzled as it hit the ground. Hexum certainly was accurate in his discription.
The draconian swung again, this time taking Sarya off guard. It caught her in the lower left arm, leaving a burning wound. Sarya let out a grunt of pain, and swung her blade with her uninjured right arm, slicing the creature's throat. Gurgling and still trying to swing it's weapon, the monster fell to the ground. It immediately began to melt into a pool of bubbling acid. Jumping away from the puddle and holding her injured arm, she checked to see how Hexum was doing with the Draconian he fought.

"Do you know what we do to ssssssmal kender ssssslime?" It hissed in her ear. "We rip their tongues out!"
Ami took on her best innocent face. "Like this?"
Her hand shot out with the speed of light, and caught the cloven tongue that lolled out of its mouth. Coldly, she severed it with a swift slice of the dagger.
The creature howled in pain, falling backwards. But Ami had dropped the dagger as the acid blood spilled over her hand. Scrambling as far away from the creature she could, she called for the others.
"Some assistance over here!"

Seeing the slaughter of the draconians Malin thanked her rescuers telling them that she would stay alert more often from now on. As they walked back to camp Malin asked Hexum if he knew why Draconians would be wandering the woods of Qualinost? Draconians weren't the bravest of the races and would not fight without the odds being in their favor, but here three draconians were wandering the forest alone. It just didn't make sense to her. The last thing she remebered was being in a clearing in the woods then falling in a black out for a while. Then having Darmiel rush over to her. Why didnt she listen to him in the first place she thought to herself. God she loved him sometimes she just wanted to hate him and turn away. Like the day of their wedding that didnt happen. As she tried to sit up she noticed Ami must have climbed up and nursed her arm. It was neatly wrapped in what was now blood stained cloth. When she finally got herself into sitting position she noticed they were on the other side of the trees. there was a large beast nuzzled beside her. All the others were sitting around a warm fire. Malin's question was a good one, and Hexum knew he couldn't explain it.

"You are right, indeed." he said. "Draconians are always working for themselves first, so it does come off a bit odd that they would be out wandering these parts. The only logical guess I can muster is that they were sent on an assassination mission. If the stakes are high draconians will usually be up for a task."

Things were strange in the woods the last couple of days. So many odd creatures that he knew didn't belong. Something was definitely wrong. Hopefully some light would be shed on the situation soon.

His dreams were odd that night. A dark inn lay before him, full of partons, people he didn't recognize. In the corner sat a young woman, hooded, with just a small hint of her face showing. She looked so familiar to him. As he stood in the inn watching, a figure approached her, also hidden in dark robes. The figure turned and Hexum saw it's face; a draconian! Before he could do anything the creature pulled out a dagger and sliced the woman's throat. The woman fell over, and Hexum jolted awake.

Malin had a scare that day but it wasn't enough to discourage her from the mission (or whatever it was they were on) As she spread her bedroll out and let the rolling waves that was sleep take her, she saw only blackness and despair....

Malin awoke early as the first gray light of dawn peeked over the horizon, and lent it's warmth to a cold earth. She didn't see anyone out and about yet so she pulled a leather bound book covered in a single silver star. It was a book that she had come by when she was a young elf traveling the world seeking adventure. She had sworn to herself that those days were over, that her time for adventure was ended, but it had come back to her, that thirst for adventure. As she opened the book the words crawled and squirmed all over the page so that when she tried to hold one of the words it fleeted the edges of her mind.

They were spells she could not read...
Spells of power....
Spells that she so desperately wanted to know and learn and use.....

Malin slammed the book shut in frustration and threw it back into her bag with an angry glance. She pulled out her simple spellbook and started to re-learn the spells that she had used in the recent past. One thing was for certain she was going to read the spells, she just had to .

Thankful that his small outburst had not distrubed the others, he let out a sigh of relief. Relaxing himself a bit, he laid back down on his bedroll, hoping to get a few more hours of rest before the new day began. His dream turned over and over in his mind and he tried to ignore it as much as possible, though it was hard. It had been weeks, if not more than a month since he had last seen her. He hoped she was alright, and knew he would never forgive himself if otherwise. But that was the least of his worries. For now his business was that with his new companions. After a short while he managed to fall back asleep for the time being.

Foku's dreams were distraught and horriable. She tossed and turned. Finally she awoke feeling suddenly sick to her stomach noticing that Darmiel had laid down next to her she felt more at peace and her stomach settled. She was getting really sick she could tell she started halucinating and after taking one last look around she got closer to Darmiel and went to sleep yet again

The small shafts of light that were able to make there way through the tree tops that covered the trees they slept on, one hit him in the eyes waking him up, seeing the tohers asleep he got up and strecthed out his muscles, unlaching a sack form his waist he pulled out a bag that was two fist sizes and opend it, The smell of meat, berrys, driedfruits, and much more filled the air, the others sturred as the smeels reached them, Looking back over to foku he saw that she looked pale and sick, he walked back over to her and told her that she should eat somthing, he sat there and waited for her to come around.

"No point" Ami told darmiel, swinging out of the treetops. "She seems to in delerium. She would possibly just hullucinate anyway by now. And if she eats anything I can bet it would just come up again." She sighed, putting a hand at Foku's forehead. "The fever is groing stronger. I can give her something to keep it down, but with the recources I have here I can do nothing for the illness itself. I hope by all the gods that that cleric will be here soon."

Foku wasnt sleeping she knew that. She was in a daze type thing. She could hear the others around her talking but couldnt quite make it out. She felt far away. She heard Darmiel over everyone else. She felt sorry for him. Him AND all the others. She had slowed down the trip.....it was all her fault. She should have listened to Darmiel. She thought maybe it would be better if she just died now so they could get what they needed done well.....done. Then not even thinking about it Darmiel replied to her thoughts. Now he sounded close up. She forgot that they could communicate that way. Sometimes she hated it. Expecially now she knew she was going to be in trouble for wishing death upon herself.

"He waisted no time hanging around chatting" drawled Ami, obviously on the downswing in her inner kender-curve. Falling to her knees beside Foku, she tilted her head to one side, listening intenly to her breathing, one hand searching for her pulse. "Much better. Now you sleep, my fair lady, and everyhting will be fine."

Foku felt a sudden chill over her. And suddenly her body felt normal. Everyone was talking at once and she could hear them loud and clear. Something she felt she hadnt been able to do in ages. Even though she had a full nights rest she heard Ami tell her to sleep. and come to think about it she was very tired. Then she thought to herself "if i sleep its only going to hold the others up maybe i should just give up the journey and let them go on there going to be at least two days behind. Stupid her went and did something that she was clearly told not to do.

"Don't even think about it" Ami snapped, pushing Foku down as she attempted to sit up. "You might fall over from exhaustion in the middle of a battle or anything like that. If you don't want us slowed down even more, you sleep now, so that you are fit to take the same tempo as everyone else. So lie down, or I might just give you something that'll force you to sleep."

Malin had seen the incidents of the last hour or so, probably the most strangest of them being when darmiel had laid a dagger in Foku's hand. Malin could feel the tension between those two, and knew it was going to blow anytime. With the incident of her spellbook this morning Malin knew she had let off some most-needed-steam. Malin was an elf by birth but sometimes it didn't feel like it her, elfs always practiced patience, could sit by a flower for hours till it bloomed, but patience was certainly something that Malin didn't have. However with the arrival of the cleric Malin certainly felt better about Foku, at least she wouldn't die out here in the wilderness of Qualinesti.

Tension. Something she knew alot of between her and Darmiel. They faced alot of it before their wedding. Due to parents and certain things that were "prohibited". She loved him alot though. She didnt want to have everything come to an end at all. Actually she hoped sooner or later they could live their lives with eachother. She was stupid. She should have listened to Darmiel. Another thing that caused tension between her and him. She felt also that she had betrayed the others. She was afraid she had made them quite mad at the long delay. No sooner then with that thought did she drift back to sleep

Foku didn't want Darmiels help. She was fine on her own she proved this to him (or at least she thought she did) She ripped herself away from Darmiel and decided to step back into the slight shadows being cast over them. She let everyone else get on first
