I am open to all adventures and any wild scenario you may come up with...however I do ask that you pm me before hand. I will be guiding the thread some what as well as I ask that you limit the out of character (OOC) posts to a minimum and do not double post. All are welcome to join and to start out only post once or twice a day so everyone can keep up with the story line. Other than all that...;) please have fun!
The time line is post WOTL.
name: Illeria
race: Half-Elf
gender: female
class: fighter/bounty hunter
weapons: long sword, cross bow and bolts, various daggers
appearance: short cut silver hair, green eyes, midnight blue tunic, black leggings, black leather boots, black cloak with large cowl.
IC- Illeria sat around the ring of the campfire and peered closely at the small torn map she held grasped in her hands. " Darn kender" she muttered, following the lines drawn on the frail parchment with the tip of her finger Illeria grew frustrated when it stopped at a large hole in the center. " I know it's there, it has to be." The trail she had been following began in the northern part of Ansalon near Kalaman. The rumors she had heard of the lost treasure had been to numerous to disregard as kender tales, almost everyone she had asked in the various towns along the journey had almost the same thing to say, In times of old, there came to be , a maid so cold, who held the key, to turn the lock, break the curse, near Haven's gate, lies a heavy purse. Illeria wanted that treasure and no curse of some long dead female was going to stop her from getting her hands on it, she vowed. Tucking the map away she berated herself for listening to the kender when he told her he had heard of the treasure and had an uncle's friends who had accually seen the ghost that guards it. When the little fellow volunteered to give Illeria a map to the location of the treasure, she had accepted warily however had followed the trails readily. Now stopped for the night in the woods just off the well travelled road Illeria sighed and bent to throw another stick of wood onto the fire, tomorrow she would continue on towards Haven then figure out where to go from there.
ooc- O.k. jump in anytime along the way...:) everyone welcome.

Illeria had allowed her thoughts to drift off thinking about the treasure when her black stallion Storm snorted out a warning and brought her back to reality. Illeria gripped the pommel of her sword as she stood and tensed to defend herself as someone or something made their way towards the fire. " Identify yourself before I do something you'll regret." she called out and waited untill a male human youth stepped into the small clearing. Illeria glared at the young man " What do you want." she asked, her hand gripping the sword pommel even tighter.

name: Larkin
race: Human
gender: Male
class: Fighter/Ranger
weapons: Bow, Dagger
appearance: Shoulder length grey hair, brown eyes, evergreen colored clothing with leather armor and boots.
"GET OUT !!.... and dont come back".
Larkin stumbled out of the Stag and Hound Inn, the barkeep continued his verbal assault until darkness swallowed the human's form. The last few days in Kalaman had been the darkest Larkin had ever known. He had lost the love of his life, and brought shame and embarassement to his entire family. His mother had been upset and in tears when she ordered him out of the house, but it was clear to Larkin that he would never again be welcome. Since that day he had spent his remaining coin at local Inn's, then sleeping off his drunkeness in dirty alleyways. This night was ending as all the others had.
Larkin looked back, the Inn was now a few hundred yards away, the streets were empty. He made his way along Rose St., looking into the dimly lit rooms of some of Kalamans most impressive homes. It was at the end of Rose St. that he came to his own front gate. From the road he could see the outline of two figures, they seemed to be embracing each other. Larkin stood at the gate for what seemed like hours, joyful family memories flooded his thoughts until the present caught up. With the sudden realization that he would never live in his mother and fathers home again, he decided he would leave Kalaman for good. Sneaking around the back of the house, he located his fathers hunting shed. After picking the lock he took his hunting equipment and made his way back to the main road.
Larkin had only been walking for approximately one hour when he noticed two figures near a campfire. " Identify yourself before I do something you'll regret." he heard a female voice shout, the other figure responded but in such low tones that Larkin was unable to hear specifics. Walking quietly towards the fire, Larkin noticed the two looked somewhat wary of each other.
"Do you need any assistance"? Larkin shouted at the woman, his bow trained on the male figure.

OOC- Welcome Moz, Daehart and Morcalivan...I look forward to adventuring with you however I would like to point out that we are on a road outside the limits of Haven...Illeria journeyed from Kalaman...;)
IC-Illeria listened to the young man's words and thought briefly of turning him away to find his own resting place however she was never one to pass up an opportunity for information and thought to question this human about the legend. Before she could acknowlege his request another voice called out in the chilly night air and with her keen elven sight she could just pick out a faint aura of red some distance away. Illeria sighed in disgust " Why is it that when a woman is alone in the darkness, a male always assumes she needs assistance?" she hissed to herself and gestured to the strange human with orange eyes to have a seat by the fire. " You may as well join us instead of lurking about the darkness like a thief." she called out to the would-be rescurer then settled herself once more by the fires warmth to await the new arrival. Even though her pose seemed relaxed to anyone who looked, Illeria palmed one of her daggers and held it ready in case she needed it.

OOC: morclavian is helping me out, daehart is gonna be his hired bodyguard, im currently taking writer's craft so this is good excercise for me
Daehart moaned, he could feel the sharp pain in his head as he woke. Placing his fingers to the back of his head he could feel the wetness. "Ugh, my head, damn that stings." It wasn't raining out and a fear came over him, a fear that he failed. Last night as the bandits jumped them he had defended his client as best he could from the odds, but then he blacked out, most likely from a blow to the back of the head. The last thing he rememberd, was the mage speaking his magic tongue.
Larkin lowered his aim when he saw how easily the woman had invited the young human to join her. "So much for being helpful" he muttered to himself sarcastically. Slipping the bow over his shoulder he made his way towards her. "I take it my assistance was unecessary” he said, nodding in the direction of the human male, who was now relaxed, and reading by the fire.

Illeria leveled her gaze at the new arrival " I generally take care of myself." she said in a cold tone of voice " If you thought to be the gallant hero raceing to the rescue of a maiden in distress you are sorrily mistaken. I have no need for a hero, and I am not distressed." Abruptly the cold look left her gleaming green eyes and a twinkle of mischief appeared " Come sit by the fire, we can become aquainted and you can regale me with tales of brave deeds of such as you would have done to come to my aide." Illeria smiled invitingly however did not loose her hold on her weapons.

OOC- Ok here's the thing...everyone is welcome to join in, just post a bio and I ask that there be no gods or dragon characters..please remember to use IC=for in character and OOC=out of character when posting..other than that, have fun.
IC-Illeria eyed the new human spectiatively(sp) then grinned " As my young friend so elequently put it, what concern is it to you? I have yet to know who you are therefore I should like some information as to how you came to be here before I reveal anything about myself." Illeria looked over at the strange young man sitting across the fire from her "And that goes double for you!" she shook her head, her silver hair lightly brushing against her shoulder and revealing pointed ears that marked her as haveing elven blood " I offer to share my fire against the cold of the night and all I get to show for it is rudeness and questions." she muttered to herself althought her voice carried so the two men could hear her quite plainly.
Larkin cast a sidelong glance at the young man who sat a few yards away, "Friendly fellow" he said, redirecting his attention to the woman, "My name is Larkin, I have travelled this evening from my village", he paused a moment....."Where I am no longer welcome". "I set off not so long ago, in search of a life removed from past memories" he said, looking a bit disheartened. "I saw your campfire as I was passing by, and the rest is recent history". With that said, he picked up a twig, snapped it in half and threw it onto the fire, "Anything else"? he said, anticipating the next round of hostile questioning.

ic- Illeria laughed at Larkin's sarcastic responce and a gleam of admiration shown in her eyes for a brief moment then she nodded " That will do." she said then extended her hand across the fire " I am Illeria, and you are welcome." After a brief shake she withdrew her hand and got up from the ground, walking around the fire she stood just off to the side of the strange silent human who had yet to look up from his map "Your turn." she said coldly.

Silence. From the Gods above, all he wished for was silence. An evening's rest had gone sour by this hour, and this only served to annoy him. Seemed his neighbors were up and about, speaking their words quite loudly with no regard for others. "No manners in this day and age," Serran muttered as he stood upon both feet, returning his spellbook to its proper hiding place. The elf placed one foot before the other and marched in their direction, pausing short enough to remain hidden and well out of sight. From this new position he could easily witness the group's actions, keen elven ears discerning all spoken words.
All that remains is the word go, and they will shred one another apart, he mused in silence. The tensions had mounted until introductions began, and even then he noted the continued safeguards each were casting about themselves. Alas, nothing wrong with that notion, he mused a second time and approached the gathering. The Red Robed figure was obviously slender beneath the robes, though within his amber eyes were held a confidence embedded deep within his soul. Silver hair fell to his shoulders, freely swaying from side to side before he came to a halt.
"This great continent we call Ansalon has many splendid locales for your conversation. Such places as bars, taverns, inns, and so on. The colliseums and festivals, alas, bring about the spoken word or two as you enjoy the buffoonery. Now, here in this wide open space, I hear the spoken word. All the landscape's fair game, and yet you choose to disrupt the peace and quiet I have survived upon the past three days. Please, should you continue to be so wary of each other's company, then part ways. This would all but serve to vanguish the noise and return the silence."
Serran delayed his exit stage left long enough to receive any notion of their plans. Stay or go, he didn't care. As long as the silence returned, he would be satisfied.

Illeria glared down at Sunder " Be quiet you fool and show some respect!" she hissed then turned and faced the red robed magic user and nodded her head respectfully for Illeria held all magic users in the same regard...she did not trust them. Although she had been a little taken aback to see an elf magic user suddenly appear within their midst without her hearing him approach she quickly regain her composure. " If it is solitude you seek mayhaps it would be better found elsewhere since the road just yonder is well traveled and bound to be disturbing to someone such as yourself." she replied to the magic user " Then again should you want for some company this night until the sun arrives to light the way so we may continue our travels, you are most welcome to join us." Illeria had few rules that she lived by however the ones she had she valued highly and the rule that flashed through her mind now was that you keep your friends close and your enemies closer, Illeria did not like the thought of the magic user out in the night's darkness where she was unaware of his presence and could not keep an eye on his dealings untill she could be leave of him.

Items: A light wooden staff which he uses as a blind stick.

He awoke to the sound of voices not too far off back towards the road if he had his bearing. He sat up and listened trying to guess the kind of the speakers and their intent.
His hand groped for Calama which he found laying next to his sleeping place. Standing up he buckled the heavy sword on and slung his napsack over his shoulder, picking up a short staff and gentley sweeping the earth in front of him for obsticles he moved off towards the road.
"Only sure way to find out what strangers are about is to make sure they are no longer strangers." He muttered to himself.
OOC: Welcome Kale, join in when you like.
IC: The arrival of the red robe had taken them all by surprise, but it was Sunder's unabashed bravado that now caused the unbelieving stare on Larkin's face. What does he think he's doing, that tonque will end up getting us all killed , he thought to himself.
Larkin got up from his spot by the fire and faced both Illeria and the red robed wizard. "Excuse our other member" he said to the wizard, "we do not share his attitude". Larkin noded in the direction of Illeria "I do however share hers.... If you are bothered by the noise then I suggest you find a spot less travelled". Larkin meant no disrespect, but he found the wizard's manner bullish, and was not about to let him push them around.

"Perhaps you should assess your technique, especially considering the direction in which you travel. For such words you quite possibly would be dismantled limb by limb. Heed the warning I afford you or . . ." Serran peered in Sunder's direction, the remaining not particularly needing to be spoken. Should his overzealous nature take hold and death ride him away, well, that was not Serran's problem. It is ones such as Sunder who seem to singlehandly lower the overall life expectancy of the fine inhabitants of Ansalon, not to mention the lack of manners.
As for the remaining gathered around the campfire, Serran glanced to each in turn. "A manner of speaking, I assure you. All manner of bandits and thieves roam these lands. Should you continue to display yourselves as targets for them, be my guest. I would rather not first be felled upon on their way to you." His perusal was quick yet thorough as he spoke, gaining the smallest of mannerisms, amber eyes discerning everything notable about them.
"As for the offer I decline. A coincidence indeed, however, that I travel upon first light. With much anticipation, I am certain, we may see one another yet again. Until our next fateful meeting, may the Gods grant you a restful sleep." Well aware of another's lack of comfort with a wizard mulling about in the vacinity, Serran smirked inwardly and began to turn in the opposite direction he had first appeared, silence ensuing as he prepared to search for a new evening's resting place.

Tossing her head in disgust Illeria sighed " Well that's just wonderful! I'll get no rest this night it seems." she looked up at the darkness of the night, towards the pale radiance of Solinari then back outwards in the direction the mage had gone. Chewing her bottom lip for a moment she came to a decision and abruptly stalked towards her pack. Hefting the small pack onto her shoulder, she belted on her long sword, arranged her cloak around herself then looked towards Sunder and Larkin " I will continue on with my journey sooner than expected it seems, you are welcome to the fire." Illeria started to walk off into the night toward the road then she stopped beside Larkin " I will not stay while a mage is around where I can not keep an eye on him and I do not put up with rudeness from guests." she said with a glance at Sunder, turning back to Larkin she stood silent for a moment then smiled " Safe journey to you my would be rescuerer, untill we meet again." Without another word Illeria slipped off into the night and headed towards Haven.

OOC- Of course it is not over people!!!! Illeria hasn't found the treasure yet has she??? However I did think it was time to get the thread moving some instead of sitting around the fire not going anywhere...if you haven't gotten a sense of my character yet, she is a little standofish, cynical and cold,..she likes to make mischief and keep people on their toes...she will not hold your hand in this thread, you are all free to choose your own path, however you are more than welcome to invite yourself along on her journey...remember you all still have no idea where Illeria is going or why....;)
IC- The pale light shining down along the well travelled road was more than adequate for Illeria to travel by, adding in her elven sight she had no worries about missing her step as she walked, however she had been looking forward to some much needed rest lounging about a warm fire but instead here she was, on her feet again and all because of some magic user and an ill mannered human. Illeria stomped her feet with a little more force than nessessary as she walked, hoping to work off some temper that had begun to rise at the situation. " Had to invite everyone who comes by to the fire didn't you" she berated herself " Couldn't tell them to keep walking like usual...NO. Wanted someone to talk to for the first time in almost a week and look how that turned out for you..." she sighed in disgust then smirked a little " Then again if it was the ranger who had arrived first, mayhap it would have turned out differently...ah well." With her thoughts turning on a decidedly different course, a smile lite her face and a twinkle sparkled in her eyes " Perhaps we shall meet up again."

Eles stood up her head hurt, she wasnt sure where she was. the darkness reviled little though she was sure it was a road she stood on now. From what she could remember she hadnt been on a road she had been in a battle far from here. she ran one of her slender hands through her shoulder length golden hair the hand came back slick with blood. it apeared she had sustained a head wound that had knocked her out yet hadnt killed her she was lucky.
she still wore her chain shirt and bits of plate that covered her shins, lower arms and shoulders. her redish dress she had converted to a suitcoat was torn but still of use. here short sword was gone or it was just not in her scaboard or her hand as was her small shield. for a moment Eles searched for these items but it was clear they were gone. Eles sat down on a large rock she was tired and somewhat dizzy. many questions she had that would never be answered like how did she get here, did they win the battle, how long has it been but she was thankfull to be alive. she was no warrior she had played at it and it had almost cost her life.
Eles herd the sound of foot steps aproching her location was it her capter returning it was too late to run or hide the aproching people would have seen her by now. Eles stood up again "who gose there" she called at the aproching shadows.

Water. He needed water. His throat ached for any liquid other than his own spittle. For a fortnight he had traveled this worn and winding dirt path to what? He didn't know. He was a wanderer by necessity. That was the problem with being a half-breed - the idea of belonging seemed to last only until your caregivers saw the pointed ends of your ears extend through your hair, or, in the elven case, till the first signs of stubble appeared on your jawline. And it seemed in this backward country the under-exposure of the locals to foreigners only exacerbated the prejudice. But this was an issue to be mulled over in times with less imminent troubles. If Eyah didn't locate a source of sustenance soon he would be unable to continue his wandering. Already his limbs felt weighted down. Ironic, he thought. It seemed the thinner his frame became the more of a burden it was to carry. With that thought he collapsed against the rough bark of an oak that lay adjacent to the path. He breathed a sigh of relief. Respite for his aching legs at last. He pressed his head into a small wooden depression in the tree trunk and pondered his situation. He knew he would be hardpressed to defend himself in this position if assailants happened to come along. But he was too tired to care. He could only hope that any who came across his collapsed form would be of a good disposition. And with those fleeting thoughts Eyah closed his eyes and napped.

"Conversation is not to my liking," Serran responded coolly to the Silvanesti. Despite the obvious fact Kale was a fellow elf from the great lands, Serran was not in the mood. The amount of study for a wizard is at times a downfall, especially on a night like this one. One hand rose to his left arm and massaged the aching pain hidden beneath the red robes. For all intents and purposes, his most utilized spells had been consumed during the battle, and now he must rest in order to regain them once more.
Serran peered at the Silvanesti with slight contempt, for he could well be yet another who slowed the evening's progress. "Should you wish for solitude, do not venture further upon your path." The red-robed wizard eyed the direction in which he had already come, and then looked back upon Kale. "Although, should you desire passage to Haven, the half-elf departs as we speak." Serran noted a peculiar aspect of the traveller and paused along his path, turning to face Kale before disappearing into the night, from within a voice called upon Serran to speak.
"My evening shall be spent beyond the darkness. Company is welcome. Quiet company." Serran spoke not another word and faced towards the direction he had been walking, slowly beginning to disappear beyond the Silvanesti's ear.

Illeria heard footsteps running up behind her and she quickly stepped off the beaten road to avoid whoever it was. Waiting behind a low bush she watched as Sunder ran past. Illeria had heard a faint cry for help coming from somewhere up ahead and had all intentions of checking it out however now she assumed it was someone who had been meeting with Sunder all along. " FIgures" she whispered and started to turn back the way she had came. Illeria had only taken a few steps when she tripped over a sprawled pair of legs. Catching herself before she fell in a graceless heap on the ground, she spun with her hand on her sword, mentally berating herself for not paying attention. Spying what looked like a thin unconcious human male sitting on the ground with his legs sprawled out in front of him as if he simply fell against the tree, Illeria hunkered down to get a better look at him. She pulled a dagger out from underneath her cloak and held it ready to strike as she reached out her hand to give the man's shoulder a shake and as she did his head rolled to the side exposeing pointed ears, that marked him as part elven. Illeria sat back on her heels and stared at him for a long moment pondering what she should do, normally she would have left him to his fate however being a half-elf herself she knew the trails he must have faced, having faced quite a few herself. Pushing her short silver hair back behind her ears, exposing the pointed tips that marked her own heritage, Illeria sheathed her dagger then rummaged around in her pack untill she found her waterskin then poured a little into her hand. Tensing the muscles in her legs, she flicked the water in the man's face to rouse him, ready to spring away should he awake fighting.

Cool water splashed across his jet-black hair and traced a path down his temples and cheeks. Eyah slowly came to his senses, his mind pushing back the dark murkiness of sleep to make room for more life-preserving thoughts. "****," he muttered to himself silently. He had been caught off-guard. He knew he shouldn't have been so reckless as to sleep in the open but the temptation of rest had transcended his sense of caution. But he didn't have to time to lambast himself. He needed to respond to the situation at hand. Eyes still closed to continue the appearance of sleeping, his mind raced through possible responses. He could feign unconciousness - but there was too great a possibility these acquaintances might actually put him in that state with a swift blow to the head. Spells were out of the question - the requisite casting times and motions were too lengthy. This left only one feasible plan - his staff. Unlike many of his fellow wizards, Eyah had always thought it rational to train in hand-to-hand combat with a weapon of longer reach than the dagger. Initially, he had wanted this training to focus on the quintessential sword. However, those in his wizarding circle had frowned deeply upon the thought of him bearing any arms other than the two he was born with. They feared it would "adulterate" the purity of the practice of magic. But this didn't dissuade Eyah. He was used to "adulterating". After all, didn't his mere existence "adulterate" the purity of the elven bloodline? Nonetheless, he was cautious not to invoke the ire of those he might call upon for help one day. Thus, he had trained daily with his faithful staff. And now was an opportunity to test that training. Eyes still closed, he tensed his leg muscles under his robes and felt the soreness return. "1, 2," Eyah counted to himself silently. On 3 he would spring upwards and bring his staff in front to parry any incoming blows. "3," he exclaimed out loud propelling his body upward and swinging his staff artfully out in front. He opened his eyes and blinked rapidly to clear the haze that had accumulated during the nap. The figure in front of him rapidly took the form of a female. An attractive female. An attractive female with water. Eyah smirked to himself. If she hadn't been poised to clobber him like a wildabeast he would have thought Paladine himself had sent her. And, with that ironic observation, he steadied his footing and prepared himself for either a fight, or, as he hoped, a simple barrage of questions.
OOC: Pretend this happened before DLancer's previous post, we must have posted around the same time.
IC: Larkin strolled casually in the direction of Sunder and Illeria's voices, "Take this" he said, handing a piece of willowroot to Sunder, "It will help ease her pain". Larkin then flashed a smile at Illeria "Second time tonight I have come to the rescue, my lady", he couldnt help but chuckle.
Kneeling down next to Sunder and Illeria, he looked at both the bodies, "What do we do with them now" he said.

As the seemingly unconcious man sprang to his feet weilding his staff, Illeria jumped back herself and the sound of ringing steel could be heard as she pulled her sword from it's scabbard and held it ready. Throwing back her cloak, she dropped the waterskin so it fell to the ground spilling water onto the ground and splashing her boots. Illeria stood at the ready, waiting to see what the half-elf would do next, she was loath to fight one of her own kind however should he attack she would certainly respond in kind. Solinari's light shone down illuminating the half-elf's handsome features and revealed tht he wore some kind of dark colored robes. In the night darkness they appeared to be black Oh great, another magic user! she thought to herself and stepped closer bringing her sword up and level, the tip pointed at his chest " What are you doing here Mage?' she questioned, her green eyes staring at him as if she could read his intent for herself.

Illeria sighed to herself and rolled her eyes at Sunder's aggression, " Sunder" she said quietly " I believe that I have this situation under control, go and see what you can do for the injured lady you came upon." Illeria's tone of vioce left no room for argument and the murderous gleam in her eyes told hiim what she would do if he decided to ignore her request. When he left to return to the lady Larkin was trying to assist Illeria grinned slightly at the now trussed up mage. " I must apologize for Sunder however it does me benifit to disable you from casting your spells untill I can determine your intentions towards us." With a smooth movement Illeria brought her sword up and around to sheath it in it's scabbard then bent to pick up the near empty waterskin from the ground, sloshing the remaining water around she lifted it to her lips and took a small sip. Illeria noticed how the mage's gaze followed the waterskin and the look of longing in his eyes and smiled to herself "How is it that you are out in the middle of nowhere, miles away from the nearest town and have no supplies?" she asked " Or did you not intend to be where you are?"
Larkin laughed, "Come on Sunder, help me prop this one up against the tree". Larkin was now kneeling by the woman’s side, "we need to get you sat up so we can tend to that head" he said to her. Larkin looked around, "Sunder, can you help her to that tree while I grab my water skin and pack"? He said, pointing towards a large tree trunk a few feet away. Without waiting for a response he got up and ran back to the campfire to collect his things.

The night seemed to become darker the farther he retreated from the main road. As well, the voices and sounds diminished. This was much to his liking, he mused. However, the matter of an invitation for the Silvanesti was still to be accepted. Until such a time, Serran would bask in the silence.
From within his robes was brought forth a small globe. Dark blue in color, the crystaline ball floated ever-slowly from Serran's opening hand. Amber eyes fixed upon the globe as it began to swirl, circling a path around the wizard as he sat motionless. After moments of following the globe with his eyes, they next paused and stared straight ahead, the path of the dark blue globe passing across his visage more hastily. Faster and faster went the globe, now appearing nothing more than a blurred, black mass. Despite the speed at which it flew, there were no sounds emitted. Serran glared straight ahead and tuned all else from his mind, amber eyes fixed upon the globe as it halted in mid-air before the wizard. A voice called from beyond the seen, resonating from deep within the globe.
"She is the one. Follow her. The end shall be fortuned."
Once the spoken words faded and the globe slowly fell back into the wizard's open palm, the amber eyes that had been fixed upon the globe blinked, and then once more blinked. Slowly he began to awaken, senses returning. With a casual hand the wizard returned the globe to its resting place, reached for his spellbook, and then proceeded to begin his evening's studies.

"You got to be kidding me," Eyah murmured to himself. Not only was he surrounded by a band of unfamiliar and possibly hostile adventurers but now one of their crew, a hyperactive do-gooder going by the name of "Sunder", had seen it proper to bound his hands together behind his back, leaving both his staff and spellcasting useless.
" Sunder" Illeria said quietly " I believe that I have this situation under control, go and see what you can do for the injured lady you came upon."
Phew, Eyah thought, at least one member of team hyperactive is capable of controlling these vagrants. He stared at her deeply, his hazel eyes locking onto her green ones. "Well... guess I'll have bargain with this wench to win my freedom," he muttered. Eyah had never had much respect for the opposite sex. Most women he met were objects of his desire and he of theirs. They were flings. None of his relationships had ever materialized into something "serious". Parents weren't eager to see their daughters engaged to a hybrid.
"How is it that you are out in the middle of nowhere, miles away from the nearest town and have no supplies?" Illeria asked, "Or did you not intend to be where you are?"
Eyah awkwardly jerked his head upward, his thoughts temporarily parted by her voice. His eyes trailed back and forth, following the water flask she held seductively in front of his parched mouth. Smirking, he replied, "Well, my lady, I've relied upon women such as yourself to provide me with necessities. It's amazing what a smile can buy you." This wasn't true. This wasn't true at all. He had come to be in his current situation due to his own ineptitude. Traveling was still an unfamiliar concept to him. He had only left home a year ago. By wanderers standards he was a newborn despite his having at least 45 human years in age. But he would never admit his inexperience to this crowd. Furrowing his eyebrows and biting his lip he attempted to wriggle his hands loose from the rope. He could feel the biting, sandpaper-like surface of the crudely wound rope rubbing away the skin on his wrists. He felt warm blood dribble down his smooth palms and pool up at the edges of his fingertips. His face contorted in pain. "Please," he exclaimed, "untie me, this is painful!" And this time no sarcasm was buried in his words.

As Illeria listened to the half-elf's words no emotion showed upon her face however a twinkle of amusement sparkled in her clear green eyes. She accepted his explaination of his lack of supplies haveing used her own looks towards furthering her goals, most often to the benifit of both parties, however she had not gotten as far as she had by trusting the spoken words of every man she came upon, no matter how handsome. Teasingly Illeria again took a small sip of the cool clear water in the waterskin and a bead of moisture clung to her full bottom lip, licking the drop away she gave a satisfied sigh and smiled " And tell me why I should untie you when I have no guarantee that you will not try something fowl once you are free. Not that you would get much of a chance to cast a spell before I cut you down, however I am not so inclined to expend the energy just now." Illeria glanced back at Sunder and Larkin as they worked over the injured lady then looked back at the half-elf "ANd as you can see I do seem to have my hands full here, why would I want to add to the problem?"

"Thanks," he managed to gurgle in between long draws of the waterskin. Rubbing his freed wrists to promote the bloodflow, he surveyed Illeria's band of misfits. He saw Sunder, the overeager mercenary who had so callously bound his hands. Next to Sunder was the form of another man, dressed in leather armor and squatting by what appeared to be an unconcious and somewhat injured female. Well, he thought, this is quite the motley traveling party. His stomach rumbled and his eyes darted toward the nearly empty knapsack. But, he reasoned, they are a traveling party with food. Better he travel with them to the next town then wander solo. He glanced over at Illeria:
"Thank you for freeing my hands. I assure you I intend no harm. I was merely catching up on some sleep when you stumbled across me. I guess I should extend my thanks for the water too. I've become quite dehydrated wandering this road."
He sighed. He was no longer thirsty but he was still hungry. And he still had no idea where these people were heading. But there was one simple way to find out:
"So, what brings you and your friends to wander this road?"

Illeria looked around her at the group that had suddenly become her travelling companions Well damn, when did that happen? she thought to herself. For as long as she can remember Illeria had been on her own, haveing no memories of her parents or where she came from, it seemed she had been wandering the world forever. Always a bit of a loner it was seldom that Illeria had company while travelling, unless of course it was handsome company invited along to relieve boredom. Illeria sighed then sat on the ground and leaned back against the tree the half-elf previously used " It looks like I will get no further tonight, might as well make myself comfortable." she said and pulled her pack closer. Peering up she smiled " I am Illeria and I travel to Haven." Looking down into her pack she pulled out a soft fold of leather tied with string, undoing the ties she unrolled the leather to reveal strips of dried meat. Illeria looked up at the half-elf and offered a piece of jerky " Now it is your turn, what is your name." Before he could answer the injured lady stirred awake and began to moan in pain. Glancing over she saw Larkin seemed to have everything under control however she again reached into her pack and withdrew a small satchel. " Larkin, now you can be the hero." she called and tossed the satchel to him. Inside the small bag were herbs for healing, Illeria figured a ranger would recognize them and know their use so she did not bother to get up to offer assisstance.
Larkin caught the bag and untied it, inside were a mixture of herbs and healing goodies. "Just relax" Larkin said, "you need to rest tonight.....by tomorrow you will be feeling much better". Larkin mixed some of the herbs together then tied the concoction up using a large leaf from the pouch. Opening her mouth, he placed the herbal pouch in the back of her throat, forcing her to swallow the mixture. "She will rest well this night, and by morning will be ready to travel". After he was satisfied that the mixture had been swallowed, he took a closer look at the injury to her head. Taking out his water skin, he began to wipe off the dried blood. After the wound was clean he took a piece of cloth from the satchel and wrapped it around her head. Satisfied that he had done all he could, he moved to another tree a few feet away and sat down.
"Tell me Illeria, why are we traveling to Haven" He said, looking at her somewhat perplexed.

"Eyah. My name's Eyah"
He peered down at her smiling face whiling chewing slowly upon the borrowed jerky. These were strange times. Ever since the War of the Lance and the havoc that had occurred it seemed Anasalon had changed. While the chaos of battle had subsided, the anarchy of the aftermath was still continuing. Travelers were not uncommon these days - many refugees had been displaced from their native lands by the warfare. Looking upwards he observed the ranger, Larkin she had called him, tending to the injured woman. He grimaced. Well, there was another casualty of these uncertain times. Gathering himself, he strode over to the woman, who was attempting to rest after Larkin's attempts to heal her. Closing his eyes, he felt a warm rush expand through his stomach and arms, as though he had swallowed a shot of dwarven liquor. His hands started to tingle as his fingers swept silently through the air creating invisible patterns. Muttering the words to a sleep spell, he placed his hand upon her forehead and slowly slid it down in a manner that forced her eyes closed. When he lifted his hand he observed the handiwork of his arcane art. Her chest rose up and down rythmically and the once contorted look of pain upon her face had subsided to serenity. She was sound asleep. Smiling to himself, he turned to observe Illeria and Larkin. For some odd reason, he felt that this encounter would be entirely more interesting than the norm.

Else fell into a sleep a rest from the pain of the mortal world her dreams were just as confused as her thoughts. she was lost far from home far from her friends had the battle gone well. an adventurer should never had been in such a conflict. but love had driven her there she had followed a boy to death to make him realise he need her. how the fates scorned her..... she dreams of the day long gone.

Satisfied she had egged the man on enough, Illeria grew serious as she looked over at Larkin. Silent for a moment she stared at him while she tried to make up her mind about weither or not she should reveal her immediate plans. Shifting to make herself more comfortable and arranging her sword so the pommel did not stick in her side Illeria made her decision " Tell me Larkin, do you believe in ghosts?"
Larkin did not answer immediately; he was trying to guess the motive behind Illeria’s question. “Although I have never seen one, I have no reason to doubt they exist” Larkin said. He looked at Illeria after answering; he could only hope she hadn’t noticed how uncomfortable this conversation made him feel. “Why do you ask” He said, trying to hide his nerves.

One of Illeria's strenghts was reading people and right away she noted that Larkin seemed uncomfortable with the turn of conversation. " I have never seen a ghost myself and as such have decided to search one out to prove or disprove that they exist." Illeria thought back to the tail she had been following for the better part of four months. What better place to start looking for a ghost than one who supposedly guards a treasure. Illeria ran her hand through her short silver hair then lifted one leg to rest her arm on her knee. Taking out her dagger she began to play with the blade, slowly turning it so the moonlight reflected off the deadly edge. Allowing her thoughts to roam towards the journey at hand she wondered briefly if she should reveal what she sought after and if she should invite company. Looking back at Larkin she smiled " Do not let such thoughts bother you, I was simply asking a question." Illeria looked up at the night sky once more, Solinary had not yet reached it's peak in the darkness and it would be many hours yet untill the sun rose. " You must rest, I will take first watch." Shifting to get more comfortable against the tree Illeria focused her eyes on her unlikely companions and studied each in turn, no she would not reveal all of her plans just yet however maybe by the time they reached Haven she would.

Illeria listened to the soft words spoken by the lady lying prone on the ground, pursing her lips she thought upon what had been said. Powerfull to attack even in dreams huh...well well it seems you learn something new everyday Illeria eyed the woman for a moment longer then dismissed her from her mind. Turning her attention on the magic user Eyah a gleam appeared in her eye Perhaps I should enlist the aide of a magic user to combat the cursed guard of the treasure, I wonder what he would demand in payment for such services? Illeria grinned at the thought and filed it away in the back of her mind for a later time. Larkin mumbled something as he turned to get comfortable on the ground A Ranger could come in handy as well, after all two swords are always better than one and there may be more than a ghost guarding the treasure. Illeria sighed, it seemed that no matter which way she looked at it, she was going to be stuck with these travelling companions, as she saw it she could use the strenght of Eyah and Larkin however there was the injured lady to think of and Illeria did not believe that Sunder could care for her himself. Illeria was not as hardhearted as she would like to belive and she could not in good faith leave these two alone to fend for themselves.

OOC: just wanted to say high to everyone first off, and say im a newbie at this (and because this was a newbie thread i decided upon this one)
Name: xanthrope
Height:61/2
Weight:160 lbs.
Age:26
Sex: Male
Race:Human
Alignment:Good
Class type:Cleric of Paladine
Weapons/Armor:Lt. mace, shield, chain helm, all emblazoned with the platinum dragon (and clerical magic)
Description:Tall, well built, wearing the white robes of a cleric of paladine, a lt. mace swinging at his side and a small round metal shield in the other hand.
Background: xanthrope came from a wealthy city of palanthas, all his brothers and his sister had joined the ranks of solomnic nights like their father before them. But xanthrope felt like he needed something more, something that had a purpsose in his life. so when ellistan had started the chuch in palanthas he started as an acolyte, training under him to become a cleric for paladine, His parents had been disappointed in his choice but they supported him nonetheless and when he had become a cleric they had purchased him his weapons and armor as a gift.He knew how to pray and do the devotions, but he wanted something more, something that would challenge his faith to paladine, so when he had felt a tugging, a thirst for adventure he decided upon leaving. he told noeone except ellistan and the leaders of the chuch. And left the next month. He had traveled to haven, no adventure, no excitement.
IC:Xanthrope departed from Haven that night, noughing to offer there, and slowly started down the road that would lead him to new possibilities, maybe even wealth.
as the evening faded into night he still walked on. preferring the cool of night to the heat of day. He had been walking for several hours when he heard the comotion in the woods not too far away. He heard the chanting of spellcasting for a brief moment, but what intrigued him most was the talk of a ghost. He had battled a skeleton once on the outskirts of palanthas that was giving a village some trouble. He had killed it that night and if any adventure contained undead he was going to leap at it. So he boldly walked into the ring of people drawing curious stares from more than afew........

With her keen elven sight Illeria had seen the glimmer of white robes far off in the distance steadily getting closer, Knowing there was nothing to fear she did not raise any alarm at yet another traveller headed towards them. "What was that?" asked Larkin and Illeria waved her hand dismissively " Just a white robe, go back to sleep." Then smiled in amusement as the man in question walked boldly into their makeshift campsite. Illeria eyed the newcomer from top to bottom and she had to admit she had never come across anyone like him before, usually all the ones who wore robes had been either mage with spell components hanging from their belts or the new clerics of the long forgotten God Paladine wearing medallions around their necks. From the look of him, he was a cleric, if the symbol of the God was any indication, however he wore the trappings of a warrior as well. A curiousity to be sure. Illeria said nothing, waiting for the gentleman to speak and enjoying the reactions of the rest of the group at the newcomers sudden appearance.

It looked like she was in charge of the group of adventurers and so he boldly stated his name, and saying that he was just passing bye, but heard the comotion in the woods, and that if they wanted the help of a cleric, especially if they were battling undead that he might be assistance.

Gesturing with her hand she bowed slightly to him " We are but a lowly group good sir, are you sure you would want to associate with the likes of us?" she asked with a quick glance towards Eyah. Returning her gaze to the cleric her face grew serious " Choose your words wisely Sir..else you may end up regretting not continueing along the road." Xanthrope looked amused, he did not look down on them, paladine treated all with the same respect (except maybe the elves), but it didn't bother him anyway. I would like to join you, adventurers, I also see that I may be of some use, seeing that you have wounded to tend to. He walked over to Else, clasping his medallion of faith in one hand, reaching out to touch her forehead with the other. He whispered a prayer to paladine asking that he heal this woman, Immediately her wounds healed over , and her head drooped into a fitful slumber. He turned to Illeria, so whats this talk about a ghost.......

bic-Illeria lifted a perfectly sculpted brow at the clerics question " So what's this talk about a ghost..." She debated for a moment whether or not to reveal her quest then grinned once more though the smile did not reach her eyes " Kender tales I am sure...nothing more." Even though the man appeared to be a cleric of Paladine, Illeria did not trust him and still had not made up her mind about including any of them in her search for treasure. The cleric would most likely have some sort of morale obligation and/or objection to searching for cursed treasure. " The fire is warm and you are welcome to stay...at least untill daybreak which is not far off." With that said Illeria resumed her position at the base of the tall oak tree and said no more, her thoughts whirling a mile a minute.

ooc- Rasitlin M, please edit your post as no one knows yet where Illeria is going, only that she is heading to Haven...there has been no mention of treasure yet and the talk of ghosts was just in passing so far. ;)
bic- As Sunder went over to a tree and lay down, Illeria called out to him " When you prove your worth, then your opinion will be valued. Untill then to each his own." She shook her head at his childish actions, " That one was probibly spoiled as a child and still needs to grow up..." she murmured to herself " Mayhap I should invite him along..that should make a man out of him.." Snapping back to attention Illeria looked at the cleric and again gestured towards the fire " As I stated before, you are welcome to the fire and to the journey if it is company you seek, you may begin your time among us by telling us your name."
Larkin looked up at the stars, he had sat up when the cleric had walked into camp, but then laid back down. As the others spoke amongst themselves he considered the days ahead, what was Illeria planning in Haven? Why was she so eager to amass this ragtag group of adventurer’s? As he drifted off to sleep he made a mental note to confront Illeria privately once they were on the way to Haven.

Xanthrope declined the offer graciously, Saying that he wasn't very hungry. Xanthrope stood up from his spot and walked over to the woman that seemed to have awakened just a minute before. As he set down beside her he said I hope you had a fitful sleep, it seems that we have a full day before us. My name is Xanthrope, May I ask what yours is?

OOC- I would just like to remind you all to try to keep the posts to once or twice a day so that the rest of the group will not have to read numerous pages to get caught up...also please read the posts over before you post your own so there are no conflicts in the story as to who is doing what...Thanks.
BIC- Illeria strode back into the makeshift campsite silently, holding her small crossbow in one hand, she had two rabbits slung over her shoulder. Seeing that Sunder and the cleric were awake she grinned " I stood watch over the sleeping beauties for a while however when the sun started it's journey across the sky I figured you all would like some breakfast. I can see that you did not even notice I was gone." Illeria hunkered down beside the still burning fire and began to dress the rabbits, once they were cleaned she spitted them and held them over the hot coals to cook. Soon the tantalizing smell of roasted rabbit filled the air and brought the others out of their slumber. Leaving the others to split the meat amongst themselves Illeria walked away to clean her dagger and repack her things for the journey, she planned to head out as soon as the others had eaten. During the quiet hours of the night she had decided to wait untill they reached Haven before she approached any of them about the treasure. Illeria knew the perils of travell and they still had many miles to put behind them before they reached Haven, who knows what may happen or how the travellers would react if they were beset upon by thieves, Illeria decided to allow each of them to prove their worth then extend the invitation to go treasure hunting.

Eyah awoke from his slumber to the smell of roast rabbit. Glancing about with sleepy eyes he noted the new addition to the group - an armored cleric of Paladine named Xanthrope. Well, he noted, at least this is one addition to the party whom I won't have to fret about. He shadowed his eyes with a hand. The emerging sun was a stark contrast to the blackness of his sleep. Noting that dawn was arising, he estimated the group had spent about 24 - 30 hours in this location. Interestingly, this arbitrarily located camp seemed to be a frequent destination of many travelers. Thus far these travelers had seemed to be relatively amicable. However he was sure that if they squatted in this haven for too long the law of averages would take effect and ensuing visitors would not be so friendly. Besides, he thought pressing his legs, he was growing tired of this location and his body ached for some movement. Seeing Illeria packing her belongings his mood lightened. Gathering his own meager possessions and the gnarled staff sprawled at his feet he hoisted himself up. Stretching, he called out:
"Illeria, to Haven is it?"

Illeria straightened up and looked over her shoulder at the assembled group. At Eyah's call she nodded then slung the small pack over her shoulder, buckled on her sword belt, then grinned at the others " Aye, to Haven and you are welcome to come with me...at least that far." With that she started off on the dusty road towards Haven. The sun shone brightly, warm on her face and Illeria breathed deeply of the fresh clean air, then the air was no so fresh, a particular odor being carried on the breeze allerted her that they would soon have company of a different sort. Illeria sighed " And here I thought I would not get my exercise this morning." Looking over her shoulder at the others she grinned " We are about to have guests, make ready." The others did not need Illeria to specify who the 'guests' were for soon the unmistakable scent of goblin filled the air. Illeria drew her sword and walked forward, eager for some sport.

Sunder smelling goblins drew his sword and ran silently closer to illeria, If you dont mind ide like to fight at your side for this one he said with eagrness for the fight, I ges i cna at least prove myself in somthing he said. Turing to look up the road the smell grew stornger i suspect were close its a suprise they havent heard us.
Seeing that the others were drawing their weapons, Larkin slipped the bow off his shoulder and stepped into the brush. Keeping his companions in sight he slowly paralleled their movements, all the while moving further into woods. The odor filled his nostrils and made it hard to breathe, they must be close, he thought. Peering around the side of a large oak tree he saw a group of 7 goblins, their leader was watching Illeria and Sunder approach. Silently the goblin leader motioned to the others to draw their weapons. With a wave of his hand the goblins rushed from the brush in the direction of Illeria and Sunder. Larkin pulled an arrow from his quiver, loaded it, and drew back the bow. As the last goblin made for the road, an arrow caught him squarely in the back. As Larkin made his way towards the road he could hear the goblins yelling as they prepared to engage his companions.

Illeria grinned at Sunder as he came up alongside her " Well this should be entertaining." and scanned the bushes alongside the road " They know we are here and should make their move soon." No sooner were the words out of her mouth when the first goblin burst out of the bushes and raced towards them. It's mottled face wearing a grimace that would terrify the weak of heart, it brandished it's weapon and prepared to strike. Illeria lifted her sword and in a blur of motion, parried the thrust of the goblins weapon then smoothly brought her sword around on a downswing to cut the beasts legs out from under him. Illeria laughed as putrid goblin blood soaked into the dusty road " Come on you miserable things, we are ready for you." Five Goblins burst onto the road and began to circle the travellers, effectivly blocking the way back and leaving no room for retreat. That suited Illeria fine as she had no intentions whatso ever to retreat, she had not had so much fun in weeks and she looked forward to ridding the world of a few more of it's more abhorant creatures.

As the goblins circled them Xanthrope let out a cry to his god, Screaming, PALADINE! As he let the power run through his veins, he reached his hand into his pocket and pulled out some rocks and through them at a goblin. The rocks exploded, sending jolts of electricity through the goblin. The goblin slumped to the ground, smoking. The stench of burning goblin hung in the air......

OOC- Reminder....there are only 5 goblins left as Larkin first spotted the group and said there were originally 7....he got one with an arrow, Illeria cut one down ( but he's still alive for now ) ...now Sunder took on 2 more....and Else is fighting 1...Xander, our cleric who seems to be part mage as well, toasted 1...so that leaves the leader...Sunder I would like you to leave the leader for one of the others who have not had the opportunity for battle yet please...Eyah could take him or it could present an opportunity for Kale and Serran to get back into the storyline...I would like everyone to be as involved in the story as they would like however I do not want to leave anyone out either! ;)
BIC- Illeria looked towards Sunder as he whispered something to her however she could not catch his words. Almost at once he yelled the word three and ran forward to engage two goblins in combat. Illeria smiled at his show of bravado and watched for a moment to see how he handled himself Not bad she thought then turned her attention back to the goblin she hadcut down and was now rolling around on the ground moaning. Illeria kicked out and knocked the rusted sword from the stinking goblins hand, then planted her booted foot smack in the center of the creatures chest. Before focusing on the goblin Illeria gave a quick look at ther companions and seeing they had everything under control, bent down and rested her arm on her knee as she leaned over to face her enemy. " Did you really think you would end up the victor of this little raid? Tell me what you were after." Illeria glared down at the goblin when he refused to answer her question, without hesitation she brought her sword around and held the point under it's quivering chin " Don't make me repeat myself." she hissed. The goblin's throat worked as it struggled to speak, Illeria could only make out a few garbled words as it bled out it's lifebloood into the dirt " Map.....curse...treasure..." Then with a shudder the goblin went limp and it expelled it's last foul breath of air. Illeria straightened up and closed her eyes How in the world had the goblin known about my quest she thought then another thought came to her and she opened her eyes to look around suspiciously " Who else knows"
OOC: I agree, everyone should have a turn if they want one, besides, 1 companion taking on more than 2 enemies at once becomes a little unbelievable. Also, for those new to online RP'ing, it is a good idea to type your responses in Word first, that way you can be sure that sentences and spelling are not incorrect. Read your responses before you post to make sure they make sense.
IC: Larkin emerged from the bushes to see the majority of the goblins dead, only the leader remained. He took a quick look around; Sunder, Illeria, Xander, and Else all had their hands full. Given the chance he would have taken the leader himself, but he didn’t have a clear shot. Where's that damn half-elf when you need him, Larkin thought.

IC: Eyah froze. They had only been traveling a short while before the rancid odor of unbathed goblin drenched the air. Illeria was the first to notice. Gazing outward toward the brush, Eyah noted multiple movements occurring. Well, he thought, looks like we've found the raiding party. Clenching his staff in his hands, he recalled the "Invisible Burden" spell. It was one of the first defensive spells he had learned at the Academy. Quick to cast and simple to recite, Invisible Burden slowed an enemy's movements, making the target feel a crushing weight upon their shoulders as though they were holding up a Vallenwood. As he finished off the latter half of the spell the enemy burst through the foliage, charging waywardly into the group. The first goblin out collapsed to the ground, Larkin's arrow lodged in it's back, and, carried by it's momentum, tumbled haplessly along ground. Illeria effortlessly dispatched another of the creatures with a swift undercut to the legs. The cleric of Paladine, Xanthrope, shouted and hurled what appeared to be stones at another attacker. Eyah smirked. Stones would probably do nothing more than irritate the already irate creature. He watched them arc toward the green blur and waited silently for them to bounce off harmlessly. A sharp crackling filled the air. The stones shattered upon contact with the goblin and lightning coursed through its body. Eyah's eyes widened. He had not been expecting that to happen! Before he could contemplate this magic, sounds of steel came from the areas around Sunder and Else. Staring in their direction, he saw Sunder swiftly eliminate two of the attackers with a fine display of swordsmanship. Ironic, he thought, what he lacks in manners he makes up for in skill. Shifting his stare, he saw Else relentlessly battering the head of a goblin with her blunt shield. Well, I guess that leaves one left. Turning his head to the right he spotted Illeria. She had a goblin pinned down under heel and appeared to be conversing with it. He laughed - she sure had an odd taste in conversation partners. However his humor was soon cut short. The half-goblin, half-ogre leader silently approached her from behind. Fool, he thought! She was so preoccupied with whatever information her goblin was divulging that she was unaware of her surroundings. The brute raised its rusted and barbed sword and poised itself to leap.
"Illeria!"
With that shout, Eyah released his spell. Magic flooded through his arms and shot out from his finger tips. The blue arcs converged on the leader and his body collapsed in mid-motion, burdened by an imaginary weight. As the creature struggled to upright itself Eyah breathed a sigh of relief.

bic- Illeria's keen hearing picked up the sounds of footsteps coming up behind her, she knew at once it was not one of her crew as it appeared they were attempting to be stealthy about it. Pretending she did not know anything was amiss, Illeria tightened her grip on her sword and tensed to spring. " Illeria" she heard her name shouted, distracting her for a moment before she spun around to confront whomever was behind her. Surprise then delight filled her as she watched the goblin leader writhing on the ground acting as if it was being smothered. Grinning at Eyah she winked " Nice" she said simply, then with a pat on the arm she left to check on the others to see how they faired.

Xanthrope looked at the gruesome and disgusting sight, seeing only burnt and decapitated goblins lying about. It seemed that Illeria must have wondered off for a minute though. He had seen the incident with the goblin and had heard something about map and treasure and had seen Illeria's reaction, It wouldn't have been worse if someone slapped her. She quickly recovered though turning back to her normal self. As xanthrope wondered about the incident he wondered what the goblin really did mean about a map and treasure.......

bic- Leaving the restraining of the goblin leader to the others Illeria walked a short distance into the woods, she needed to be alone to sort out her thoughts and she couldn't think with the others watching her. Illeria knew she had blundered when she allowed her reaction to the goblins words to show and she wondered how many had noticed. At least one of her contemplations was proven true, everyone had handled themselves remarkedly well, all the enemy defeated and no one injured. Illeria heard the bubbling sound of a brook not far off and picked up her pace to reach the cool clear water. Kneeling at the streams edge she threw off her cloak and pushed back the sleeves of the midnight blue tunic she wore to splash water on her face and neck. The shock of the cold water revived her somewhat and she wished she could take the time to wash properly however there was plently of time to soak once she reached Haven, for now she had better get back to the issue at hand. It was obvious that the word had spread that she was after a treasure, how the goblins found out was of no consequence, what mattered now was how many others knew about it, and if this had just become a race to the finish line. Illeria knew that she was going to need help if she was to accomplish her goal of defeating the curse and finding the lost treasure. Picking up a smooth stone she sent it sailing out over the water and grinned at the resounding splash, decision made Illeria closed her eyes and allowed her mind to drift towards the future.

Purseing her lips she thought a moment about interogating the creature to find out how much he knew then she decided against it, if there were more out there, she was bound to find out sooner or later. Well we should be leaving if we want to reach Haven by nightfall, Xanthrope said to the troup. I have just come from there and it's not that far now. Xanthrope knew he had just traveled this road and hadn't even seen any signs of goblins. And now they openly attack Xanthrope thought to himself. He had heard the goblin say treasure and map and decided to have a word with Illeria later, knowing that the goblin attack had something to do with wherever she was headed. But for now we will have to reach Haven......
As the others set off down the road, Larkin took one last look at the goblin leader who was still struggling under the weight of the magical spell. Sliding a dagger from his soft leather boot, he bent down and swiftly drew the knife across the goblins throat. Satisfied the goblin was dead; Larkin wiped the blade, and slipped it back into the sheath.
Seeing that the others had not bothered waiting for him, he quickened his pace until he caught Illeria. “May I have a moment” He said, drawing her aside. “If you expect us to continue fighting with you, you must enlighten us to the true reasons as to why we travel to Haven. You cannot continue to hold secrets while we risk our lives to fight for you”. He looked directly at her, “we know you travel in search of treasure, please Lady Illeria enlighten us”.

Illeria looked into Larkins eyes and gave him a melancoly smile " You call me Lady Sir, " she said softly " Aye, I wish sometimes I could be just that..." As the smile hardened on her lips Illeria's emerald eyes began to glitter " However I choose not to be and look to where it has led me.." Illeria looked back at the others then once more at the ranger who looked so determined to get some answers that she could not in good faith keep it to herself any longer. A glance at the sun told her it was almost mid day so she decided now was as good a time as any to tell them all a tale. "Let us all break for a meal then I shall let you know why I am bound for Haven." Illeria walked a short distance off the road untill she came upon a small clearing. Taking a seat on a fairly large rock ashe dug into her pack untill she found the small roll of leather that contained the dried meat she had shared with Eyah last evening. Selecting a piece of meat for herself she then passed it on to share with teh others and tried to think of the words to get stated as she chewed on the tough jerky.
"I did not ask any of you to risk your lives for me..you all joined me of your own free will and by all means can continue on without me." she stated looking directly at Larkin in reference to his earlier statement " However should any of you choose to stay with me on my quest, I shall guarantee you great rewards." Before any of them could ask her a question Illeria began to sing " In times of old, there came to be, a maid so cold, who held the key, to turn the lock, break the curse, near Haven's gate, lies a heavy purse." As her voice carried over the companions and the last note faded into the sunlight Illeria smiled "So now you know what I am after."

Larkin listened intently as Illeria softly sang her song. Many questions raced through his mind, but for now he would silently contemplate the intricacies of the riddle. There would be time for questions later. At that moment Sunder passed him the dried meat and began to shuffle restlessly, “Not to be offensive, but we should be on the move” He said, looking at the others. “I agree” Larkin mumbled, his mouth full of food, “To Haven”.

Illeria laughed at Sunder's responce " Ah the impatience of youth, be careful my friend it may get you into trouble someday." Illeria had already known that Sunder would be a part of the journey, the thought of failure probibly did not cross his mind which would be an asset to her. She was also sure Larkin would accompany her as well if for no other reason that he could aide her and try to keep her from harm, Illeria smiled at the thought, still it is nice to know that chivilrey(sp) was not dead yet. Of the rest she was not sure, she still did not have a clear handle of Eyah, he was hiding something she was sure however everyone had secrets so she did not fault him for it and Else was still recovering from her injuries regardless of the help from the cleric, she may decide not to go with them but to instead journey back to her homeland. Illeria hoped not for she admired the other woman and wanted her along. As for the cleric Illeria wondered if he would have some sort of morale obligation or objection to searching for cursed treasure, she already knew that he could handle himself well in the face of the enemy and she also wanted him to join in the quest however she was on the journey for herself and she balked at the thought of aquireing the riches only for the cleric to want to donate them to the church or some such nonsense. Illeria looked from person to person as she waited for the others to speak, she made no move to continue towards Haven just yet, she wanted to hear from everyone present because according to her map, they would be leaving the road not far up ahead and if anyone had objections or did not want to continue she was not about to show anyone else the way.

As Xanthrope listened to the song it seemed that someone had lain a heavy enchantment over him, and as the last clear note struck and died in the wind, he longed so much for adventure that his adrenaline pumped to a amazing level. But he calmed himself as he always did, always had to. He was a cleric anyway, one of Paladine's children and he had to practice patience. Xanthrope thought particularly of the part of the song, In times of old, there came to be, a maid so cold.... Xanthrope wasn't a dumb person and had always prided himself in being able to figure out puzzles, and as he put this one together he knew he had found the answer. A treasure that was cursed by a dying maid.... It all made sense now, the dying goblin and of his last words.....

As Illeria waited for the others to make their feelings known she sat back and thought over the journey she had undergone to arrive at this point. She had first heard the tale when she was just a youngling, only about 35 or so and at the time had enjoyed the story as a kender tale, it was not untill many years later that she had come to believe the tale was true. Darin, her partner, had lost his life in search of this very treasure. Illeria had pleaded with him before he began to give it up, that it was only a kender story and not to be believed however Darin had not listened and with little more than a quick embrace he walked away from Illeria, never to return. Out of stubborness she had refused to go with him and it was only in the dark of night that she wondered if he would still be alive now had she offered her sword. For more than a year she had waited for Darin to return, letters had been delivered to her once every three months or so untill the last one, nearly two years after Darin began his journey, all the envelope contained was a scrap of parchment with the words You were right. and a small, incomplete map. The very map she kept tucked close to her heart. Illeria waited one more year for Darin to return before she set out on her own from Kalaman to search for him. As she travelled she began to accept that Darin was forever gone and the hunt for the treasure became her quest. Illeria was determined to find the treasure and break the curse for Darin.

OOC- Sorry Raistlin, it is only mid-day(lunch time), no stars yet;)
BIC- Illeria glanced over at the cleric " What do you want to know? It is a very old tale, I first heard it myself when I was younger, only 35, which would be about 75 or so of your human years. From time to time I would hear tidbits of information from various wanderers and slowly we...I, began to realize that it was much more than some bedtime story." Illeria was rarely at a loss for words , however Xander asking questions so soon after her thoughts of Darin caused her to fumble for the right words for a moment. " I still have no responce as to weither or not you shall be accompaning us on this little journey, what say you cleric?" Illeria asked Xander, a little on the defensive now even though she had no reason to be upset with the cleric.

Talith Tor-ger of the warden house stood back in the shadow watching the group of people and letting the sweet voice fill his ears could it be here after all these years Illeria it couldnt be he hadnt seen her for he couldnt remember they were young of cause. Talith wore brown leath armour a quiver and bow acros his back and a longblade at his side his elven cloak slightly blowing in the wind as was his soft blonde hair even though he wore a elven half helm that covered his fore head and checks but left the back of his head free. his green eyes fixed on Illeria as he steped out toward her. his soft leather boots made no sound as he took a few passes towards the group. his pale green cloths brushing softly on his fleash. " can it be that i have found Illeria and in the company of humans no less what has this world come to. it is so good to see you my old friend " Talith spoke in elven his voice was like a song.

Illeria stiffened at the sound of a voice speaking evlen directly behind her. It can't be! she thought then slowly turned to face the demons of her past. As she faced the blonde elven man walking gracefully towards her, Illeria completely lost all her composure. Her face drained of all color and her hands clenched so tightly, small rivulets of blood dripped from her hands from where her nails dug into her palms. In a strangled voice she called his name " Talith!" then she did something she had never done before, she crumpled to the ground in a dead faint.

Talith lept forward befor her head hit the ground and gently cought her and slowly lowered her to the ground suporting her neck as he placed her softly on the ground he brushed his hand across her face softly. his green eyes fixed on her peacefull face. had he done the wrong thing sould he have left her be, should he have left him self be. the house warden were the first line of defence for the royal house they patroled the realms border they were the eyes of the woods the defenders of life. as a warden Talith had seen many thing many foul things invade his home but one thing had been his light that was Illeria maybe he had been wrong so very wrong maybe he was her pain.
Talith turned to the humans that were gathered around he didnt know what to say he had never realy comunicated with humans.

Illeria came back to herself slowly in degrees, becoming aware of her surroundings she realized she was on the ground, cradled in strong arms, arms she had thought she would never feel again. Fury filled her and as she opened her eyes she drank in the strong handsome features of the man who held her. When his eyes came to rest upon hers, she smiled at him fleetingly then without warning her fist flew up and connected solidly with his chin, the force causing his head to be thrown back. Getting to her feet she stared at the man whom she believed betrayed her, who walked away from her so many years ago she had lost count. " What are you doing here Talin" she asked softly, useing her pet name for him without thought. Illeria flushed as she noticed they had an audience, the others were staring at the pair not understanding what was happening. Illeria could never reveal how this man had broken her heart, and how she had wandered alone from the homelands untill she reached Kalaman and met Darin who helped to heal her wounded soul. This means nothing! she tried to convince herself and turned away I must not allow my past to interfere with the future.

Xanthrope stared at the couple in stark amazement, not comprehending the tension that was almost buzzing in the air as the couple locked stares. Another riddle xanthrope mused to himself another part of Illeria's foggy past. The last question had startled him when she had said almost crossly to him, I still have no response as to whether you will be accompanying us.... He had told Illeria then that he was going to join if she would permit it. But now with a new elven face in the party and with the demons that seemed to be haunting Illeria's past he found himself rethinking his decision and thirst for adventure. He settled back against a tree and gloomily pulled his waterskin off his belt as he sank into his thoughts. One thing for sure was that this seemed to be some long-lost lover of Illeria's......

OOC- As you may or may not have noticed, Sunder (Sadistic) is no longer with us....soo...
bic- " I want to help you" he said Illeria stared at him, not believeing what she was hearing...it had not been that long ago that she had said the same words to him when he was selected to go out on a dangerous mission for the royal house and he had rebuffed her...she was not sure just how long Talin had been watching them, she knew the wardens always thourghly scouted before revealing themselves so she was almost certain he knew what she was going after. Being a warden Illeria also assumed he knew more about the cursed treasure, he would be useful however she was not sure if she would be able to handle having him in her life again, the tender feelings she had once had for him were buried deep...she was just afraid it was not deep enough. Before she could reply to Talin, Sunder came up beside her and grabbed her arm " We should go, we don't need him." Shaking off his hand she paused..something was not right..the air was to still..scanning the area Illeria stiffened with alarm but before she could shout a warning, a black fletched arrow came soaring out of the surrounding trees and struck Sunder in the chest. The young man pitched backwards to the ground, his lifeless eyes staring into the sun. Pulling her sword from the scabbard, Illeria turned her back to the others and faced the growing hoard of goblins that streamed from the woods...there must have been 30 of the ugly creatures, the previous group they battled was probibly a scouting mission an d here now was the full force. Illeria glanced at Talith " I will accept your help...for now."

Xanthope stood up in a flash as the arrow sank deep into sunder's chest, he ran quickly over to him and knelt beside him, searching for the healing spell. But it was too late and as the last beat of life flew from him, he heard the charging goblins come crashing through the woods into the small clearing. As the first of the goblins came within distance, Xanthrope pulled a wand from his belt and focused on the first three goblins. Sending a ray of searing light into the small bunch, four goblins fell down clutching their burning skin that was almost hanging off of their bones. As he slid the wand back into his belt, and pulled his mace out of it's sheath and the shield off his back, he said four down, twenty-six to go.....

OOC - Sorry bout the lack of recent posts - exam time here at school!
IC -
Damn. Everything was a blur. Eyah shifted his head back and forth, trying to shake the deluge of information he was receiving in a comprehensible pattern. He had been in control when the goblin leader had struggled on the ground, burdened by his arcane words. However, events between then and now had left him feeling confused and frustrated. Too much had happened in to little time. He was a slow and methodical creature. Control was of utmost importance to him - it signified the ability to manipulate and reign in a situation at one's behest. Yet, the recent happenings had been strictly out of his control and he did not appreciate being relegated a subordinate to external factors. First, Illeria had concealed information about a treasure hunt. He wasn't exactly sure of details since her discussion of it was fleeting and vague at best. Second, this man named Talith had appeared seemingly out of the abyss. Third, there was a long, long history between this man and Illeria - a history of course which he was not yet privy too. And most shockingly, an arrow had just flown out of the foliage and struck one of Sunder's vital organs. Eyah looked downward at Sunder's crumpled form, his features still frozen in an expression of shock. Eyah felt his stomach sink and a feeling of nausea wash over him. While he was no stranger to violence, he always lamented the loss of a traveling companion. Smiling sadly, he rubbed the still raw flesh on his wrists, a remnant of Sunder's handiwork. He and Sunder had never developed a close relationship - Eyah had always regarded him as too reckless for his tastes. But, over the short time they had been traveling, Eyah had grown fond of Sunder's simple mannerisms and his straightforward attitude. In this world of deception and facade, Sunder was one of the few who seemingly did not have a disregard for morality and truth. He was simple - in a positive way. Eyah knew he had the potential to be a somebody. Sunder reminded him of an old Elven proverb which stated, "If the trunk is solid take the time to trim the branches."
"Eyah!"
Distantly, he heard the sound of Illeria's voice calling. He knew of the situation at hand but he was reluctant to leave his ruminations for the useless violence and unrestrained bloodlust of reality. Murmuring softly, he called to mind the words of a spell used to enhance an individual's speed. Fleeing was the only option. The goblins drastically outnumbered them. Looking again at Sunder's crumpled form, Eyah felt the sour taste of revenge cloud his mouth. His ears and face burned with adrenaline and rage. He wanted revenge. He wanted to steal from these wretches what they had stolen from him. He wanted to make them suffer, to send them to the next life so Sunder could have his revenge there. But he knew his natural impulses would only result in more carnage and the loss of those he deemed his travel companions. Tensing his jaw to supress the feelings of anger, he made ready to cast his spell on those around him. Sparing one last look at Sunder's lifeless body, he vowed revenge. He had no idea how he would fulfill this vow but reason had left him when these debased monsters had plunged an arrow into his friend's chest.

With the hoard of goblins still some distance away, Illeria sheathed her sword and withdrew her crossbow, the only effective weapon she had for long range attack. Glancing at Talith's long bow, she gave a mental sigh, wishing that for once she had taken her long bow with her when she had fled to Kalaman. Firing her crossbow as fast as she could, taking down any goblin that came into her range, Illeria stood shoulder to shoulder with Talith " I would love to fall back...mind telling me how we are going to do just that without getting cut down from behind?" she kept her tone sarcastic however she still reeling from his earlier words. my love , she couldn't believe he had said that however now was definitly not the time to dwell upon it. Magic! she thought We could use some magic right about now. and immediatly shouted "Eyah!" Illeria figured Eyah would have some sort of trick up his sleeve. She had started to slowly move backwards as the beasts came forward, she was running out of cross bolts and soon would have to resort to useing her sword. No sooner was her last bolt fired before she threw down the now useless crossbow and pulled her sword from the scabbard, the metal gleaming with deadly light as the suns rays were reflected off the blade. Illeria tried to keep one eye on the goblin hoard and the other on her companions to make sure they were fairing alright, she knew they would all have to make a break for it very very soon and she wanted everyone to be ready. Suddenly the bushes to her left parted and a hideously scarred goblin jumped out and bore Illeria to the ground. Although she did not loose her grip on her sword, it was rendered useless when her arm was pinned leaving her only one hand to fight off the attack. Illeria bucked with all her stregnth trying without success to dislodge the smelly thing but it only grunted and tore at her with it's claws. Illeria cried out involuntarily at the pain of the goblins claws raking her skin then balled her right hand into a fist and aimed at the goblins jaw. Before her fist could connect, the goblin balled it's own fist and slammed it into the side of Illeria's head. Momentarily stunned, she saw stars and only came back to herself when the goblin let out a shout of triumph as it ripped open Illerias tunic and spyed the small folded parchment of the map. As it grabbed the map Illeria tried with renewed strenght to thwart the thing however her efforts were in vain for it grabbed the precious piece of parchment and leapt off her to run back towards it's comrades, but not before giving her one last blow to the head.

ILLERIA! Xanthrope cried, as he ran over to the crumpled form of illeria. The simple curing spell came quickly to Xanthropes mind, and as he recited it, he prayed to paladine and held his medallion the whole time. As the spell went into effect xanthrope let the power surge from his hands into the form of Illeria, and as Illeria sat up, she said in a raspy voice, get the map....

Muttering some unknown and undiscernable words, Eyah waved his hands, tracing some unseen design in the air. Immediately he felt his body weight become lighter. He felt as if he was standing on minotaur legs. And judging from the reactions of his comrades, they too felt the lightening effect.
"Get the map...," rasped Illeria.
He looked over at Illeria's fallen and battered form. She is a fool, he thought. Here we are surrounded by goblins and she is fretting about a piece of parchment. Judging from her condition, she was incapable of pursuing her attacker. Well, Eyah thought, I could let that goblin escape and concentrate on retreating backward in an organized manner. Or I could swipe that map - and read it for myself. He opted for the latter. Whispering more magical prose, he launched a spell of entanglement in the beast's direction and watched with satisfaction as the very earth sprang up around its legs and locked in place. Seeing that the goblin was temporarily immobile, Eyah dashed over with his newly granted speed, his hair flapping wildly as he broke through the normally motionless air. Swooping down on the confused creature, he pummeled it in on the side of the head and then swiftly grabbed the stolen map and tucked it uncaringly in his robes. I'll read this later, he thought. Now we must depart this place. With that thought, he leapt over to Illeria and hurled her over his shoulder. Looking backward, he saw the goblins attempting to ring them in. They had not yet fully formed the circle so he looked for an opening and ran.

the goblins were now to close for arrows Talith had his longsword drawn and with grace full arcs he severed limbs and slit guts open he new it would soon be over he kicked a goblin away darting left then right he ran to a tree line he placed his hand apone a tree and spoke a few quite words. he wasnt a woods shaper but he had learned one or two thing from the house of woodshapers and that could just save his life. the woods moaned and then he was gone. well if the goblin looked hard enough they would find them since he was only up the tree about 10 meters but since the closest goblins to him had just been crushed or thrown away by the failing branches they would proberly never tell.

BIC- Thanks to Xanthrope Illeria had full mental capacity once more, even if she was weak in body for the moment she was planning her next step carefully. Heedless of the goblins creeping in to surround the companions Illeria watched as Eyah raced after the goblin that had taken the map. After only a few heartbeats Eyah came racing back so Illeria figured he had the map. She could feel the strenght returning to her limbs however she did not protest when Eyah raced back towards her then assisted her by tossing Illeria over his shoulder to carry her out of the path of the hoard. Illeria went limp allowing her hands to dangle down Eyah's back and her head to roll against the back of his neck. As Eyah ran Illeria's hands did not remain idle, every time the running motion caused her hands to bump into Eyah she was searching his person for the map and after only a few moments Illeria had it in her possesion once more. Once she secured the scrap of parchment that held the instructions for the treasure seekers, Illeria lifted her head and levered her body so she was bracing herself on Eyah's shoulder to look back at the mass of smelly goblins left behind. There were not as many of the creatures left as she had thought, what once was a hoard of 30 was now down to about half that size now. They must have realized that they could not keep up witht he companions now that they had Eyah's spell assisting them so the goblins started to fall back, returning from where they came from, but Illeria knew that they would be back and next time they wouldn't just be after the map. Illeria wrapped her arms around Eyah's neck and waited for him to stop running. When he did and placed her feet on solid ground once more she smiled then held his face between her hands and gave him a quick kiss " My thanks Eyah, for the spell, for assisting me, and for retrieving my map." she said as she brandished the small folded parchment before his nose, a knowing look in her eyes. Illeria tucked the map back into the the wide strap of leather she had bound around her chest, with the goblin tearing open her tunic the leather strap was revealed. Raw red lines raked her skin where the beast had clawed her, angry red marks against the milky white of her skin. Illeria pulled the tattered remains of the midnight blue tunic together as best as she could, her spare tunic was in her satchel which had been left back at the camp. Illeria tied the tails of the tunic together to form a knot and was satisfied it would do untill they reached Haven. She was not about to go into the treasure trail without supplies and the attack by the goblins proved they needed to be in top form for the adventure. Besides there was too much going on in Illeria's head at the moment, she needed to relax and a nice long hot soak in a bath in an Inn would be just the thing.

Xanthrope felt the effects of the spell, felt himself lifted off the ground. He saw that they were in a desperate situation so he took advantage of his new found lightness and ran. He din't exactly know where he was going just that he was following Eyah who for some reason was carying Illeria over his shoulder. As he set her down Xanthrope came up barely breaking a sweat. Good spell Eyah, he said, And what happened to the rest?

Eyah bounded through a gap in the circle of goblins, Illeria slung over his shoulder. Glancing backward, he noticed the forlorn creatures had given up on the chase, realizing their legs would not be able to match the magically enhanced speed of the companions. When he deemed it safe, he gently lowered Illeria to the ground. Upon meeting the earth, Illeria smoothly caught his head between her hands and kissed him. It was a quick, fleeting peck. But it was also enough to please him. Well, he thought, maybe this woman does know how to show her gratitude. Smiling inwardly, he congratulated himself on a plan well executed. He had not only procured the map but had also procured Illeria's favors. And then he saw it. She smugly waved her hands in front of his face, tightly grasping a crumpled piece of parchment. Recognition quickly dawned on him. As his hair lifted, fanned by the back and forth motion of the moving paper, he narrowed his eyes and stared intently at her. Damn! How could I have been such a fool? She was no naive maiden in need of rescue. He had known this but he had, nonetheless, let his guard slip slowly downward. Her eyes glistened with mischief and a not-to-subtle delight in knowing she had played him for a fool. Very well, he thought. We can engage in these cat-and-mouse charades as long as it will entertain you, my dear. His elven blood calmed his ruffled temper. He had centuries to figure out what was in this map. Time, while fleeting to humans, kender, and the like, was of no great importance to him. His life span burned slowly, a candle with a mile-long wick. He had his elven parent to thank for that. Smiling graciously, he moved close to Illeria, mouth positioned near her ear. "Well, half-elf, what is the next move dictated by your precious map?"

Talith now was were he lived to be and were death was his ally he would be like a dozen hidden elves here and the goblins would be demoralised one by one the arrows left his bow as he also lept from tree to tree any goblins who came to their senses and tryed to retaliate were lost to his location. a warden at work he had wondered how illeria ever left her place in the great house. soon the goblins had formed up order was restored but choas remained . another goblin fell clutching a white fleched arrow a second limped of a arrow petruding from its leg Talith was almost out of arrows 6 left though he hadnt looked he just new and so he shifted back in to the trees no more death flew with white feathers Talith was gone though his eyes still watched as the goblins who had given up the chace started to search for him. Talith slid his blade out once more ready for the hunt.

Illeria laughed in delight, she had seen the flare of annoyance in Eyah's eyes and recognized it for what it was. Point to me she thought The game is on, my friend. As he leaned close to whisper in her ear, a delicious tingle spread through her, the thrill of competition, she lived for it. " Well, half-elf, what is the next move dictated by your precious map?" Illeria grew serious " We need supplies and rest before we continue. We shall proceed to Haven to gather everything we will need for the journey then start out once again in two days hense." Illeria grinned once more "Besides, I long for the chance to soak in a hot steamy bath and I have never been one to pass up an opportunity when it comes along." Illeria gave Eyah one more knowing look before she turned away to face Xanthrope " You have my thanks once more Cleric. What say you to a hot meal and a good nights rest?" Illeria was a little concerned about Xanthrope, he seemed eager at first to accompany her on her quest however lately he seemed to be a little hesistant, as if he was distancing himself from her. Looking around her for the others Illeria immediatly noticed that Talith was not with them, concern for his welfare quickly rose in her however she tamped down the feeling. He was no longer her concern, she reasoned, he stopped being important to her when he cast her aside and trampled on her heart,... oh how she wished she could believe that.

" Well I don't know about the rest of you, but I am not in the mood to wait around here for the plug uglies to regroup and resume their attack on us." Illeria stated as she took stock of the others. Everyone looked tired and road weary, the effects of Eyah's spell wearing off, Illeria wanted to reach Haven before nightfall. " Shall we be off then?" she asked then started down the road once more without waiting for an affirmative. The sun's ray beat down on them as they walked towards Haven, the rising heat and dust from the road made for miserable travelling conditions however Illeria took no notice. She was watching the way ahead for any signs of the return of the goblin hoard, she did not want to be caught unaware. " We should reach Haven within an hour barring something unexpected from happening, there is an Inn on the main street, The Haven Gate Inn, that is where I will be staying once we reach the town. If you all decide to come along with me, you are all welcome." Illeria had thought that once the companions reached Haven they may have a change of mind about going back out into the wilderness on a treasure hunt they new next to nothing about, however those that decided to join her will recieve all the details at breakfast in the morning. Illeria did not want anything more than a hot bath, a hot meal and some solitude once she reached the Inn, there had been too many factors that she had not counted on when she started the journey so she had to work out how to deal with them before continuing on.

ooc- Patience Raistlin patience! Good things come to those who wait....yea right! lol Accually I am delaying a bit because I want to give the others a chance to catch up with us and if any new players want to join in, now would be a good time while we are at the Inn...it is going to be a long night. ;)
bic- Illeria strode in throught the open doors of the Haven Gate Inn and breathed deeply of the delicious aromas wafting through the kitchen doorway, her mouth watered at the thought of some good elven wine, bread and a thick slab of roast. Seating herself at one of the tables in the common room she gave her order to the serving wench then leaned back in her chair to await the meal. Slowly scanning the other patrons Illeria was looking for anyone who seemed to take unusual interest in her, she knew there were others who knew about her quest besides the smelly plug uglies and Illeria wanted to know who. She figured it was only a matter of time before they revealed themselves. there did not seem to be anything amiss this night so Illeria allowed herself to relax and her thoughts to drift over the events of the pass few days, so much has happened this was by far the most interesting part of her journey to date. When she origanally left Kalaman she had travelled with little incident, it was only as she came closer to her goal that things had changed. Meeting so many people in such a short time, haveing one of them die on her and ghosts from her past come back to haunt her. The serving girl delivered her meal, fragrant steam rising from the meat and potatoes, Illeria picked up her knife and stabbed the slice of roast, cutting into it angrily. Why did he half to come back now! she thought Did he think that with a few words everything would be back the way it was? Well he has another thing coming! Illeria stabbed at the meat, pretending it was Talith's heart, peircing it as he had pierced hers. When stabbing the meat did not make her feel any better she threw down the knife and fork and picked up her goblet of wine. Her appitite gone she decided drink may help rid her of the tender thoughts and feelings that had arose at the return of Talith.

Xanthrope had wanted a couple hours of rest when they had got to the inn so he had immediately reserved a room for himself, but now about two hours later he felt refreshed enough to go down to the main floor and order himself some food. He saw Illeria leaning back in her chair and an empty plate before her, so he decided to join her on the opposite side of the table. He told the servant that he would have potatoes and venison, then let all the smells and sights of the inn soak in. He shared a few polite words with Illeria and then as the servant set his food before him, He asked Illeria, So what is this quest really about?

Eyah stared straight ahead. Haven Gate Inn. He breathed a sigh of relief. Finally - some respite from of the drama of the previous days. Through the rectangular windows out front, he could almost feel the warmth emanating from the twin hearths located in the establishment's center. Strolling along with a renewed sense of purpose, he entered through the two open doors and immediately was bombarded with the fragrant scents of freshly-cooked meat and fruity wine. Illeria, who had been in front of him moments earlier, had already seated herself and ordered up a sumptious meal - wine, bread, and a leg of meat. Xanthrope, the cleric whom Eyah knew little about, had strode directly to the innkeeper, booked a room, and hauled his possessions upstairs. Eyah opted for this latter approach. He walked casually over to the innkeeper, who, upon seeing the haggard half-elf come toward him, knew that hard currency was only a brief negotiation away from his scruffy hands. As Eyah approached the unkempt man, he felt a growing sense of unease. There was something about this man that put him on guard. He had noticed when his companions had entered, the innkeeper had paid close attention to Illeria. Judging from the shadowy figures occupying this place, he had a feeling the knowledge about Illeria's map had spread much farther than their traveling groups' ears. He smirked caustically. It seemed everyone had information about Illeria's precious map except for himself. Leaning on his staff, Eyah walked a few steps closer to the innkeeper and looked him in the eyes. "I need a room for one." He slammed some coins down onto a nearby tabletop. "This will be ample enough". Stroking his staff lovingly, Eyah displayed it prominently to the stuttering man, effectively shutting up any protests he would have over the amount. Reaching for the crudely-made key offered by the innkeeper, Eyah cast one last glance over at Illeria, who seemed lost in thought, and proceeded upstairs to his room. Slamming the door behind him and dropping his possessions to the floor (except for his staff which he propped against the bed's headrest), he inspected his surroundings. It was a small, sparsely-decorated room, with a roughly-made bed lodged in one corner and a small wooden table carelessly placed in another. After inspecting the bed for any blatant signs of filth, he sat himself down upon it and reached over for his staff. Muttering some words, he extended one arm toward the door and the other arm toward the window. The magic flowed through each one and spilled outward toward both the possible entry points. They glowed green briefly and then subsided to their normal hue. Well, he thought, I hope no one is brash enough to enter this room uninvited tonight. He then took the key and hurled it across the room, where it violently struck the wall and slid down, it's momentum quelled. "Useless instrument." With that action, Eyah laid himself fully upon the mattress and let his thoughts slowly ebb into sleep.

A few tables away from the group Lefty Whitler sat noticing many patrons staring at the newcomers with great attention. So much attention the stew from his spoon ended up on his beard instead of his stomach. In irritation he dropped it into the bowl splashing a little more upon his red lockes.
Hailing the barmaid with a hand gesture he yelled out he needed another water. Soon laughter broke out from some of the local patrons. An older man began to lift his drink toward Lefty in a mocking demeanor.
"In all my years I have yet to see a dwarf who did not like his ale."
The normally mild dwarf began to blush in anger towards the man, but soon let it pass. As a younger man, Lefty enjoyed his drink until he decided to finsh a project that cost him a few digits from his hand. Looking down the once proud wood carver was now lame in his profession. Through many years of practice he was getting better using his other hand yet he was not reaping the benefits in the market like he was used to.
Looking back towards the woman who seemed to demand the rooms attention he decided he would introduce himself. Maybe he could leave this town and find a life outside town.
Taking a large swig from his cup he hopped down from his chair and headed towards the party.

Talith sat in a tree that over looked the city of haven he swung his legs in the cool breeze he ran his hand down the ruff barck which told so many stories it told of the cities creation and it told him that illeria had entered the city. Talith would go nere the city when the abyss froze over and he wristled the dark queen to death with his own hands. so in other words he would wait here till the exited the city. he had things to do arrows to make and wounds to tend to sure they were just a few scratchers but they need to be dressed none the less. he looked back at his past one where illeria had wanted to see him had wanted him to hold her what had gone wrong he haddnt expected to get a warm reseption but he didnt think he would get hit. talith started to day dream about what could have been....

BIC-Illeria sighed inwardly when the cleric joined her at the table, she had wanted to be alone for a while and get pleasantly drunk so she could forget, however she could not in good faith tell Xanthrope to leave, after all they had been through he did deserve some answers. " I was planning to tell everyone at the same time in the morning however since you ask I will tell you cleric." Before she could start the serving girl arrived with Xanthrope's meal and took Illeria's half-eaten plate away, Illeria requested another glass of wine and a bottle sent to her room along with a hot bath. Illeria did not figure this would take too long and if the cleric showed up in the morning to continue on the journey after hearing the tale, she knew he would be with her untill the end. " I suppose I should start somewhere near the begginning, that would make more sense wouldn't it?" she asked with a wry grin " However I won't because it does not pertain to the story. You do remember the legend?" and at his nod continued " Darin beleived in it so much he was willing to die for it. Darin was my partner, in Kalaman we were a team, doing odd jobs, selling our swords to the highest bidder..always together. It was not easy, not many people have a tolerance for those with elven blood and Darin was tired of being hungry. When he first came to me with the legend I laughed and dismissed it, telling him it was a Kender tale. He was fixated on it and spent all his spare time researching it, asking everyone questions untill one day he told me he was going to find the treasure and be rich." Illeria stopped speaking for a moment and drained her glass. Signalling for another she looked at Xanthrope " He left, I stayed and here we are." Illeria leaned forward " I believe he found it but something stopped him from returning. He sent me the map and one clue, I know he wanted me to get the treasure, to succeed where he failed and nothing is going to stop me." Illeria rose to her feet "That is all I am going to share with you for now, I will tell you all the clue Darin left me in the morning. Good night Sir." Illeria turned to head towards her room, a little unsteady on her feet after drinking three glasses of wine with hardly any food. Before she could take two steps however her path was blocked by a dwarf. " Excuse me Sir " she said respectfully, Illeria was always respectful to her elders, " I did not see you there."

Xanthrope was grateful and taken back, all at the same time. Illeria had just opened some of the most tender of her memories to him, and he was gratefull for that. She was probably the most that he could call a friend, and he was desperately in need of friendship and support right now, after leaving on the spur of a moment to look for adventure. he made a mental note to be kind to her as much as he could and watch her back at every chance. He made a prayer to paladine, and then ordered some spiced wine, just as he turned his head to watch Illeria bump into an elderly dwarf......

"Well now, what can I say to that. Haha, I'm a dwarf, so I am little." Shaking his head in confusion he realized she was sincire unlike the other patrons of the inn.
Wiping his hand on his tunic he extended it towards the woman, "Names' Wilstan Whitler, call me Lefty."

Illeria eyed the dwarf warily for a brief moment before extending her own hand in return " My honor Lefty, I am called Illeria." She did not sense any malice in the dwarf however with all the happenings of late she could not be too cautious. Releaseing the dwarf's hand, Illeria straigtened up and tucked her shining cap of silver hair behind her ears, exposing the pointed tips and proclaiming to all that she had elven blood "Forgive me Sir however I am tired and want to retire to my room, if it is company you seek I am sure my friend Xanthrope would be pleased for someone to talk to." Illeria sent the cleric a look that she hoped conveyed that she wanted the cleric to question this new arrival and find out what he wanted. " Good evening to you." Giving the elderly dwarf another nod she quickly stepped around him and headed for the stairs. Climbing to her room, she kept her ears open for the sounds of anyone following behind her and not hearing anything quickly entered her room and locked the door. Illeria turned and looked around the sparsly furnished room, all that stood within was a wore down bed and small nighttable and braided rug, however the thing that filled her with delight was the steaming tub set in the center of the room. Illeria walked over to the night table and poured herself another glass of elven wine that had been brought with the bath then walked over to the window. The town of Haven lay spread out before her gaze, dark with shadows, and beyond the gate lay the trees of the forest. " Talith" she whispered to herself as she gazed at the trees " Are you safe my love?" Illeria sighed to herself in disgust as she turned away from the window " What am I saying, of course he is safe..he is a warden, he knows what he is doing. He does not need anyone to look after him..especially me." She walked over to the tub and began to strip off her clothes, the new tunic she purchased upon arriving in Haven dropped to the floor along with her belt. Illeria carefully placed the parchment containing the map and a small sack containing the clue Darin left her on the floor next to the tub within easy reach, along with one of the daggers. Pulling her boots off Illeria allowed them to thud on the floor then quickly removed her leggings and purse holding the few steel coins she had left after replenishing her supplies and the rest of her daggers. Illeria then sank into the steaming hot water with a soft moan of pleasure and allowed her thoughts to drift as she relaxed.

Eyah blinked his eyes rapidly, attempting to clear away the blurry coating that had gathered during his sleep. Stretching his arms and arching his back, he wriggled around for a bit, making sure to revive the blood flow in his previously sedentary limbs. Sitting upright, he leaned over and wrapped his hands around his staff, bringing the lengthy piece of wood to touch lightly against his chest. What to do now?, he thought. He looked around the room. It was too sparse to provide any forms of entertainment. Pressing down on the top of his staff, he elevated himself upward. Adjusting his robes so as to look presentable, he walked over toward the door. Lifting his staff, he swung it solidly against the door, creating a muffled thud. Satisfied that his prior trap had been disspelled, he opened the door and proceeded downstairs.
The noise of the inn was overwhelming. As the night had progressed during his slumber, the occupants seemed to have grown threefold. The innkeeper who had dealt with him was frantically trying to make sure operations ran smoothly, leaving one task undone in order to attend a more pressing one. Looking downwards from the steps, Eyah attempted to find the table Illeria had occupied earlier. Scanning left and right, he found no signs of Illeria but did find Xanthrope and a peculiar dwarf engaged in intense conversation. Shrugging, he strolled over to their table, carving a path through the throngs of people. "Xanthrope!", he called. Getting the cleric's attention, he pulled up an empty chair and attempted to join the conversation. "So, may I inquire as to who this may be?", he said nodding towards the dwarf.

Oh, hello Eyah, this is lefty, a hill dwarf. We were just engaged in a serious conversation of some of the heroic deeds of the Heroes of the lance. Mind to join us? As Xanthrope was talking he looked to the corner to see a shaded character taking a long drag on his pipe, he was leaning back in his chair, in a dark corner shadowed by darkness......
The rain fell softly as Larkin approached the Haven Gate Inn “Damn this weather” He muttered to himself. He had spent the better part of two hours hiding amongst the brush from the patrolling goblins. The others had been lucky enough to escape, he on the other hand been forced to hide and wait till the goblins dispersed.
As he opened the door to the Inn the sounds and smells filled his nostrils. He looked around the room; the Inn was packed this night, but at a table towards the back he noticed two familiar faces. Larkin smiled as he moved towards the table “Anyone miss me” He said sarcastically to Eyah and Xanathrope. He didn’t wait for a response; instead he pulled up a chair and waived his hand to get the barmaids attention. “Where’s Illeria” He said, “Is she here, or has she run off again”? Larkin was about to continue his line of questioning when the barmaid arrived “I’ll have the rabbit stew” He said, barely looking up from the crude menu, “and a mug of your finest ale”. The barmaid took is order and dashed off to the kitchen. “So where were we”?

The water in the tub was starting to cool off however Illeria was loath to leave it, for the first time in days she finally felt relaxed, it was amazing what a good soak could do for a body. Thinking over the map and clue, she was pretty certain now what course of action to take however she needed the opinions of her travelling companions before making a final decision. With a sigh Illeria pushed herself upright and stepped out of the bath basin, walking over to the nighttable she left a trail of wet footprints on the floor behind her. Picking up a drying cloth from where it was placed on the end of the bed, she toweled off then wrapped the cloth around herself and sat down on the bed. Pushing her hair back she gently traced the map with a fingertip, tracing the route they would travel in a few hours then she reached for the small leather sack containing the clue Darin had left her along with the map. Illeria opened the drawstring and poured the sacks contents into her hand, a lovely golden chain and medallion spilled out onto her palm. Lifting the chain she watched as the medallion spun in a slow lazy circle, the firelight from candles flashed from the gem in the center. Illeria had heard of the gem with magical properties called an ice crystal, however she had never before laid eyes on one prior to this, it was so valuable others were willing to kill for it. Illeria liked the looks of it, as all women admire pretty things but other than that it did not seem to spectacular to her, she had seen and held nicer gems. She needed to know more about the beautiful stone before she could use it, she decided she would ask Eyah in the morning what he knew of it. Illeria set the necklace aside and dressed once more, leaving her belt, boots and weapons on the floor beside the nighttable. Clasping the chain around her neck, the medallion hung halfway down her chest, she admired it a moment more then tucked it away beneath her tunic. Illeria lay down on the bed and closed her eyes intending to try to find some rest.
ooc- I am making this stone up so it can have whatever powers we want, Illeria will be asking Eyah about it so if you can make up it's powers DLancer, it would be appreciated..;)

Well we were engaged in a conversation about some of the heroes of the lance, but as you can see, I was just getting ready to retire for the night. Before I go though I would like to introduce you to a friend I have just recently met, Lefty, a hill dwarf. Well goodnight Xanthrope said as he headed up the stairs, he then pushed the key into the hole and turned it with a satisfying "click". As he entered the room he noticed that everything looked just exactly as he had left it. With a satisfyed grunt he then took several pouches from inside his white robes and laid them on the stool in front of him, then walking over to the window he opened it, letting in the cool night breeze. As he set down on the floor he took one of his pouches and reached his hand inside it, pulling out a handful of white, thick sand. As he let the sand sift through his hands, he muttered words of prayer to paladine, asking him for guidance while he was on this jouney. Then as the last of the sand dropped into his other hand he reached into his other pouch with his free hand and pulled out a chunk of crystal, curiously shaped into the figure of a dragon, set with green emerald eyes. He then set the dragon on the floor directly in front of him and with the last words of his prayers he let the cold, clear night air fill his lungs. As the power took hims he separated his soul from his body taking on the spirit of the crystal dragon. As he floated out of his window he soared above the treetops and out into the forest, searching for the goblins that had attacked them earlier. when he finally found them nearly an hour later he saw that they had indeed grown larger in numbers. Something was stirring them, someone or something was making them do this, there was some mind behind this, and Xanthrope knew that Illeria probably knew why. Then as he was heading back to the inn he realized that his time had expired and that, the dragon form was dissipating. As his soul returned to his body, he felt only weakness and tiredness......

With a great smile and a nod Lefty bid his new friend a goodnight. Xanthrope and Eyah had been very respectable towards him even in their tired state. Welcoming the new companion grinned, "Well laddie, make your self comfortable and warm your insides with some food and drink."
Grabbing his mug he cheerily hummed along with the soft music the local bard began to play. By doing this his rosey demeanor aloud him to scan the inn for anyone who seemed to take interest in this group. He was a dwarf after all, trust came from years of loyalty yet these people had a good aura about them that he felt safe with.
Turning towards the man he placed his water down. "What brings you all to these parts, not much to do besides eat and drink. The market has gone down as of late and wonder if you need another traveller amongst yourselves."

Xanthope felt a great tiredness wash over his body, like he had just ran in a million races. He just had barely enough time to tell that several hours had passed while he had been gone. The dragon crystal had potent powers but its effect was tiring and taxing on the user. He noted that it was probably somewhere past midnight, but as he sank onto his bed he fell into a deep, dreamless, sleep.

Eyah stared at Lefty. This dwarf was an intriguing character. Eyah had only known the chap for a couple minutes but he felt at ease with him. There was a soothing aura about his persona. When Eyah looked toward him, he could only feel good intentions emanating outward. Yet, even this kind aura was not enough to let Eyah relax his guard. In this ramshackle inn, foes and friends were easily confused. And seeing how Eyah had only known Lefty for a couple minutes, he did not trust that he could accurately gauge the integrity of his new friend's character. Some further questions were needed to discern his true intents. Ignoring Lefty's two questions for fear of divulging too much information, Eyah peered intently as his conversation companion and asked, "So, Lefty, how do you and Xanthrope know each other?"

Illeria woke instantly alert to her surroundings, peering around in the darkness she listened intently for any sounds out of the ordinary and hearing nothing but the muted sounds of merryment from the common room below she swung her legs around and slipped from the bed. Illeria felt refreshed from her bath and brief nap, she was eager to get moving and filled with energy though she doubted that the others would be willing to leave this early. Pulling on her boots and fasteningher belt Illeria walked over to the window once more and breathed deeply of the fresh night air, lifting a hand she lazily stroked the amulet with the ice crystal in the center, admiring the way the moonlight reflected casting flashes of light across the room. With a sigh she tucked it back into her tunic then belted on her sword and cloak then left the room. Quietly desending the stairway she stood for a moment and surveyed the commonroom, though it was late there were still many people seated at the tales enjoying themselves.

"Well, I just wandered over and began to talk about architecture. Soon after we began to speak of Neraka and how beautiful it would have been if "she" would never had graced the temple. After that we talked about the Heroes, speaking of travels here and there."
Smiling he also whispered that the people in the inn took great interest in the group. He then went into great lecture of his boredom of this place and how he would enjoy leaving.
Nodding he noticed Illeria making her way to them.
With a wave of his hand, revealing his black glove, the three fingered dwarf greeted her.

Illeria smiled at Lefty, she could not help herself, there was just something she liked about the elder dwarf " A very good rest M'Lord, and very much needed. " Settling herself down into one of the remaining chairs she rested her elbow on the table and leaned a little closer to him " What were you speaking of when you stated there was much interest in our small party? I would be very much interested to know just who wants to be privy to our business here." Although her lips still had a smile, Illeria's eyes had turned cold and a deadly glint could be seen that bespoke of an ill fate for any who deemed to interfere with the compainions quest.
Larkin had been listening intently to Lefty and Eyah’s conversation when he felt the slender hands touch his shoulders. His first reaction was to reach for the dagger in his boot, but the ensuing whisper soon identified the culprit as Illeria. Larkin swallowed his food and looked at the female companion as she took a seat. “Worried about me”? He said jokingly. Larkin enjoyed the small games he played with Illeria; they were harmless games, but they kept his mind off his personal problems.

Whoa. It seemed the entire traveling party had decided to rendevous at this table in this instance. Eyah looked at the new company. Illeria looked rather refreshed from her rinse and nap. Her hair was let down and rolled gently about her shoulders. The matted, gnarly appearance it had taken on during their previous traveling had altogether disappeared, replaced by voluminous curls that seemed to sway with the slightest force. Eyah shook his head rapidly. He had been momentarily captivated by the scene but forced himself to avert his gaze for fear she might notice his staring. He glanced toward his other new companion and tucked his mouth behind his hand to avoid revealing his laughter. Larkin, his face downcast, looked the entire opposite of Illeria. His clothes were crumpled and stained. A five-o'clock shadow was appearing prominently along his jawline. Eyah felt pangs of remorse for the ranger. Clearly what Larkin had experienced prior to entering the inn was not pleasant. Well, whatever he had experienced would have to remain unspoken for the next hour or so. As Illeria knew, the moment-at-hand would need to be used to extract more information about Lefty. The three-fingered dwarf seemed too pleasant for a man missing two fingers, especially if those extremities had been lost during battle. Men who held conditions such as that were not as well-disposed to the world as Lefty seemed to be portraying himself. The old dwarf was not revealing something.

Illeria leaned back in her chair, taking a moment her eyes never left the dwarf. " So you want to leave do you master dwarf, tell me why." she asked softly. Keeping her gaze locked to the dwarf's, she waited for him to begin, the saying went that the window to the soul was in the eyes and she wanted to search that soul for the truth. One did not do a favor for another without recieving something in return in this day and age, Illeria did not believe for a moment that all Lefty wanted was to travel out of Haven one final time, as he put it, there must be something else he wanted. She truely hoped he would reveal his purpose for Illeria genuinly liked the old dwarf, even after such a brief meeting, and would enjoy his company, not to mention counsel on the remainder of the journey.

Atasha climbed down out to the trees slowly and quietly. She was really not fond of goblins and wanted to be very sure they had moved on their way or at least taken up interest in others. It was only by luck that a whole group of wanders had drawn their attention at the exact moment she wished to escape to the Inn. Following in the shadows as best she could she used her skill to skirt past the fight and find her way into the cozy and familiar Inn. She smiled at the barmaid as she entered and with out a word was brought her usual pint of ale and bowl of stew. The Goblins were always about on the roads and frankly she was done being amused with them. Although in denial Atasha knew in her heart she had grown tired of this place.
Born into a middle class family she was the only child. At the age of 7 her parents mysteriously became ill and death took them both not six months after the first signs of illness. Atasha never knew why she was spared the sickness and at times she wished she had been taken by it. She was...alone. She was lucky in that her father had built their home and it was now hers at such a young age. She worked odd jobs, became a jack of all trades as one may say and when the need arose, which it did in many winters, she would thieve to survive. She was not a member of the guild because she always wanted more from herself than that. What she took she took of need and not want. The life style had made her strong, and highly adaptable. She could read but only spoke common and just enough of goblin, orc, elvish, and thieves tongue to get herself into trouble. That's what you learn on the streets, this and that. When she couldn't find honest work she would spend time practicing with her few weapons. The daggers she pulled from random goblins found on various roads, the Cross bow and been her fathers and the short sword was a prize she won at the age of 15 at the spring dawning festival here in town.
The patrons of the Bar knew her and so she blended in. But the recent events had drawn her attention. A treasure?... she really didn't want a treasure but a quest or a purpose was something on her list of wishes, maybe she could sort of go along for the ride. Anything to have a reason to get out of this place once and for all. Drinking her ale she watched them but did not stare at them, she listened more than anything. Her mind full of thoughts she was jerked back to reality when the barmaid tapped her on the shoulder. Jumping, she clean knocked her bowl of half eaten stew to the floor, her spoon flying through the air and landing only a few feet from the feet of the large group she had been listening to and who had happened to aid her unknowing with the goblins. Apologizing she offered to clean up her own spill, taking a cloth off the the barmaids shoulder and swiftly mopping up the floor. Embarrassed her pale cheeks blushed as she handed the cloth back to the appreciative barmaid. "Thank you Miss Mirth, you know me, lost in thought again."

Larkin jumped when he heard the bowl hit the floor “What is it with surprises today”? He said in a rather annoyed tone. Looking around the room he quickly located the guilty party. Not ten paces from them sat a befuddled looking human woman. “Do you mind, I’m trying to enjoy the company of friends”. With that said he turned back around and took another bite of his dinner. It was only after a few seconds that he realized how rude he had sounded. Finishing his mouthful, he turned again to face the woman “Sorry for being so rude, I have not had the easiest of days” he paused a moment, then smiled “My appearance should be proof of that” He said, patting some excess dirt and leaves off his sleeve.
“My name is Larkin” he said, extending his hand, “and you are”?

Xanthrope sat up in bed, clearly it had been several hours since his escapade, and now all that weariness washed over him like a lifetime of wories. He knew that he should be downstairs with the others, lest they distrust him. As he got up he looked for his robes and found them laying in a heap on the floor, after slipping them on, he picked his pouches and his belt of the chair and pulled out a small vial of a greenish liquid. He pulled the cork off and downed it in one drink. He felt the tingling sensation course through him and all the tiredness flew away from him and he immediately felt calmed. He smoothed his white robes and straightened his hair, but left his weapons and armor lying on the bed. He slowly walked down the stairs and saw the whole group seated around the table that was already over-crowded. however he pulled up a chair and started into the conversation with the rest of the group.

I should not have let my mind wander so far away. I must have been that way for hours." Glancing out the window she noted that much time had passed and she silently cursed herself. "I am Atasha, please accept my apology all of you." Her blue eyes slowly wandered from one member of the party to the next. " I grew up by this Inn (she sighs) but I must say I'm growing a bit tired of the same things day after day, season after season. And so, my mind has taken to wandering to far off places while my body stays still." Grinning she looked up at the group thowing off her prior depression. "If only Kender could do such a thing as I have just done!"

BIC- Illeria did not turn her gaze from Lefty's when the commotion started, it was not untill the girl began to speak that she looked up, taking in her appearance at a glance. With Lefty's warning still fresh in her mind, Illeria did not like the coincidence of the girl just happening to be close by....and speaking of travels and adventure. Wondering how much the girl overheard Illeria gestured for her to pull up a chair "Why don't you join us?" she asked mildly and watched closely to see if she could detect any connection between the girl and dwarf, if the two were working as a team.

Her blue eyes slowly wandered from one member of the party to the next.
Lefty guffawed towards Atasha in a loving tone. Lefty nodded his head squinting his eyes in amusement. "Atasha you always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time it seems," catching her attention.
Lefty had always been fond of the young rogue. When he had first injured had looked over his shop for a while learning the wood carving trade. Atasha had been a fast study learning the trade yet the dwarf knew it was not her calling. She wished to be anywhere other than this town.
Lefty on the other hand wanted to travel before his retirement. His son had left over thirty years ago to join some crusade against evil. Like father like son was all he could think. Many years before the birth of many who lived in this town Lefty was a proud warrior. A tale he would keep to himself until the time arises.

She walks up behind the dwarf and sets her hand on his shoulder for a moment then bent down beside him glancing at the silver hair woman he had obviously been having a conversation with. "Are you leaving me behind? Picking up a new set of kids to keep your company are you?" She winks at him playfully and then focuses her attention back to the woman.
"Lefty here is kind of father like to me in a odd way, when I had none he gave me a listening ear, when I had no work and no food he gave me both." Shifting back to Lefty she stood up and shifted her weight on the balls of her feet. Her face darkened a bit and half muttering half speaking out she cast her eyes down, realizing that she he left all but lefty in confusion she spoke the words she had thought she wouldn't have to say again since she had found semi independence. "I am or I guess was, an orphan" Sighing she looked up trying to escape the ever heavy depression. A change in subject. "Any new projects Lefty?"

Illeria sat back and watched the exchange between the girl and the grizzled old dwarf, that there was affection between them was obvious to anyone who looked. Illeria stood up and looked at everyone seated around the table, she would not try to pry anymore information from Lefty or the girl for now, " We must be away with the mornings light, if you are here when we make ready to leave you can certainly join us...for now." Illeria knew that if the two were to accompany the companions, there would be more than just herself watching the pair " I suggest we all find what rest we can with the remainder of the night and meet here first thing tomorrow." Illeria looked over and smiled at the other half-elf enticingly " Eyah, would you care to accompany me to my room,.... there are a few things I would like to.... discuss with you." She wanted his opinion of the dwarf and human girl as well as she wanted to know what he knew of the ice crystal she wore around her neck, however she intentionally let the others think she had invitied him for more than discussion. Illeria smiled at the others " Good nights rest to you all."

As Illeria made her way throught the common room towards the stairs, she was thinking about the girl and Lefty. It seemed too much of a coincidence that the dwarf first tells her to be aware of others interested in her quest then almost on cue the girl arrives. Both of them looking for travel and adventure, well she would certainly accomodate them both. Illeria had firmly believed in keeping her friends close and her enemies closer, Illeria would much rather the dwarf and the girl accompany them than follow behind them, at least this way Illeria and the rest of her group of companions could keep an eye on them untill their full intentions and purpose were revealed.

Wiping his mouth with the end of his beard Lefty jeered to Atasha. "I think I need to close the shop for a while lass, if you don't mind I need some height to cover my valuables."
Staring around the inn he burned the vision into his mind, for this may be his final time to it. He was old, Reorx would like his services soon. One last journey on Krynn would do him good.
Bidding the group a good evening he headed towards the door staring at the drunks who mimicked his accident. Rolling his eyes he waved his hand in front of his nose, "Which one of you has been living with gulley dwarves?"
Turning back he awaited Atasha's farewell greetings, "Gonna need to talk some sense into that girl," he whispered.

Eyah glided up the stairs, his eyebrows arched in amusement. He had been sitting at the inn's table just minutes earlier trying to decipher the intents of the newcomers. Lefty and Atasha obviously had history together, but the nature and depth of this history remained unknown to him. He shrugged to himself. He would have enough time in upcoming days to decipher their intentions. Concentrating on the task at hand, he watched Illeria walk toward her room, her lithe body casting a lengthy shadow in the torchlight. Admiring her form, he advanced toward the room door, entering as she opened it. Well, he smiled, tonight would be interesting. Putting his hand on the small of her back, he gently moved her out of his way, situating himself in the middle of the room. Turning around, he waited for Illeria to come on to him. Illeria opened her mouth to speak:
" So my magical friend, do you have any tricks up your sleeve? Can you tell me anything about our new friends?"
Eyah rolled his eyes. That wasn't exactly the line he had been anticipating. This woman was always business. Smirking, he stared at her. "I can tell you one is a dwarf and one is a practiced thief. A pretty, female thief. And, to allay your fears, I can also tell you that their is an overwhelming possibility that their intentions are good. As we were sitting around the table I cast a spell of true intentions. While the spell is not foolproof, it did not detect any signs of evil intent. So, either they are fantastically good actors or we have nothing to worry about." He moved closer to her. "But, oddly enough, I feel I can rest more assured of their intentions than I can about yours."

" There is something I want to show you" she said seriously all traces of amusement gone. Illeria walked slowly closer to him, her hands reaching up to undo the top buttons of her tunic, " What I am about to reveal, men have killed for." Illeria stopped in front of Eyah and smiled " You may look but not touch" she whispered as she pulled the medallion from inside her tunic. Atasha took the box from the dwarf "you know I would never take a thing from you Lefty, I will keep them safe, sleep well." Walking over and taking a seat by the fire she opened the box and gently lifted out the gloves. They were obviously fit to the Dwarfs hands. She had not realized that Lefty had intended to bring them along. In all honesty she had almost forgotten about them, being tucked away for so long. Slowly she slid her left hand into the glove. Flexing and relaxing her fist the glove moved in perfect motion with her hand as if it were a second skin. Sighing she removed it and placed them both back in the box. Thinking to herself "I can't keep them in this box, it's too obvious, why would any normal person keep gloves in a box? To much attention. They must look as if they are normal old gloves." Picking up her pouch and belt she slipped the gloves inside the pouch and then attached the belt tightly around her waist. She had intened to sleep with it off but decided other wise. Fondly she remember the stories that Lefty had told her and wondered how long it had been since he had actually worn them. Setting out the dishes for the morning meal she settled by the fire and drifted off to sleep.

Illeria watched the ice crystal spin lazily around on the end of the chain, it was almost hypnotizing, watching the flashes of light reflect off the crystal. Eyah sipped the wine Illeria had offered him. The fruity aroma engulfed his senses and the cool liquid trickled down his mouth, offering temporary relief to his dry throat. Lowering the cup, he ran his finger around the top of it.
"What I am about to reveal, men have killed for." Illeria stopped in front of Eyah and smiled, "You may look, but not touch."
She unbuttoned the top of her tunic and the leathery fabric split into a gradually deeper v-shape. Eyah gripped his hands together, allowing Illeria time for her foreplay. Staring at her chest, he noticed a thin chain that plunged downward into her still-clothed midsection. Odd, he thought, I’ve never noticed that before. From the way the chain pulled tightly across her neck, he conjectured that there must exist a sizeable pendant on the end. He shivered slightly. A tingling commotion ran through his body, not unlike the sensation he experienced when spellcasting. Interesting, he mused, my body responds as though something intensely magical is nearby. Eyah grew uneasy as the sensation increased in intensity. Something was awry. He should have felt anticipation for Illeria’s striptease, yet the only anticipation he felt was for the source of these chills. Eyah froze and stared at Illeria. There was something beneath that tunic that pulsated with an arcane power. She reached her hands inside, all the while smiling. Slowly she pulled the source of the chain’s weight upwards, eventually removing it from underneath her clothing. Eyah couldn’t make out the object since her hands were gripping it, but the magical vibes it exuded were overwhelming. He felt wave after wave of goosebumps wash over his body, causing his muscles to tense. Illeria released her grip on the object and a medallion with an ice crystal insert fell downwards, stopping when the chain’s slack had depleted. It rotated clockwise, obeying the demands of the twisted chain that supported it. All Eyah could do was stare.

Illeria knew that the first glimps of the ice crystal was intrancing however she was becomeing a little impatient. Straightening up Illeria once again tucked the medallion into her tunic breaking the line of contact with Eyah, she hoped. Noticing his clenched hands Illeria began to feel uneasy but quickly shrugged the feeling off, there have not been any adverse effects from the ice crystal, at least not that she noticed, so that could not be the reason Eyah had yet to speak. Illeria took one step back and casually placed her hand on the hilt of the dagger at her belt, should he decide he wanted the medallion for himself she would be ready however she did not want it to come to that. "I have been told I have the ability to render men speachless however that usually comes later." she teased.

Walking into the small kitchen she brought a kettle of water over to the kitchen fire added some herbs for tea, she then got the skillet down to warm as she took 7 eggs and a spoon of lard from the shelf. "four eges and toast for you lefty, and 3 for me. Did you want bacon? It makes me feel heavy and if we are going to be walking a lot I wasn't going to have any, but I can make some for you." Xanthrope awoke with the sun shining full in his eyes. He lay in bed for a few minutes more and then sat up and thought about how funny it was that he had got himself into this predicament. He couldn't help but feel a few butterflies in his stomach as he thought of the adventure. Picking up his robes from the open windowsill where he had let them dry after washing them, he put them on and strapped on his belt. As he walked into the common room he gave the key to the inkeeper and gave his thanks. He sat down and ordered breakfast.
Slivers of sunlight raked Larkins face, he began to roll onto his side, and then felt immediately sick. Finding the closest window, he opened the shutters and vomited on the ground beneath him. What a night He thought to himself. After straightening himself out he made his way down the hall to the bar, where he promptly took a seat and let his head rest on the table. Eyah noticed Illeria's fear and shook himself out of his trance. "Don't worry," he smirked, "I'm not planning on snatching your pendant. AND if I were, your dagger would be hardpressed to stop me." Narrowing his eyes, he continued speaking. "Now, I assume from your handling of the device, you have very little knowledge of its true capabilities. No, my dear, it's primary purpose is not to accessorize your wardrobe. While I cannot be certain of its origins, I believe you are in possession of one of four existing Istarian healing charms. How you came about this device I neither know nor care about. What you may be interested in is its effects. Originally, this pendant was constructed to ensure the stability of the Istarian government. It was given to top officials as an insurance policy against their deaths. The pendant has the ability to revive its wearer after he or she had suffered mortal wounds. The pendant also extends the user's life by approximately 50 years. Sound good? Yes. And when they were initially created, the mages and clerics involved in their development were estatic. However, years into their use, a side effect was discovered. Apparently, temporary immortality comes at a price. The pendant would fuse pyschologically and physically with its wearer. The two would form a symbiotic relationship. The user would benefit from the pendant's capabilities and the pendant would have a host in the user. Yet, this relationship was not entirely wholesome for the user. From what little documentation remains of their effects, the pendant would, over years, siphon the faculties of the user into its shell. Eventually, the pendant would become the controlling entity in the relationship. And, to insure that it remained with its host, the pendant's removal would cause insanity in the user. And that, Illeria, is why I have no desire for your artifact. I am perfectly content being a slave to neither men nor devices." True concern washed across Eyah's face. "Now, how we will remove this ornament from you is another matter entirely."

"Magic is not something we dwarves adore too much. But this gift has been handed down through many generations of carvers. They grant the ability to climb to the highest of heights with little or no effort. I myself would have never finished my works in the forests of Qualinost without them. Illeria batted Eyah's hand away and nodded briskly at Atasha " Let's get down to business." Illeria pulled out the small parchment that had the map written on it and layed it flat on the table. As she stood up she made a point of stepping on Eyah's foot with the heel of her boot, the others did not notice however she felt better. " Thsi is the map of the location of the cave containing the supposed treasure. We will leave the main road here." she said indicating a small spot on the map that led towards the mountains. Illeira hesistated then looked at everyone assembled " We are not alone in this quest, there are others whom covet the riches for themselves. I ask all of you to concider before makeing your decision to jion me." As Illeria spole she looked into the eyes of everyone seated and saw only firm resolve in each. She smiled at the companions then folded up the map and tucked it back into her tunic. " Let us be off." she stated and headed for the door. The sun shone down brightly as the group made their way down the streets of Haven towards the main gate and as they exited the city Illeria breathed deeply of the fresh air. She smiled feeling refreshed and as she looked over at Eyah, his words of last night running through her mind. She was a little worried about the effects of the medallion however she would deal with the consequences when the time came. As they neared the trees Illeria's heart beat a little faster for she knew it would only be a matter of time before Talith found them.

"are you leaving now its about time" Talith fliped out of the tree to land gracefully on the ground his bow in one hand a red apple in the other. he ha waited for them for what seemd an enternity he was bored and that was hard for an elf to do he new that Illeria didnt want him around but he had to make amends and heal old wounds befor he left.

Xanthrope was walking with the others when he saw Talith swing out of the trees. He noted a look of annoyance cross Illeria's face, but it was also mixed with relief. He had already commmitted the map to memory, even though he had only seen it once. Xanthrope glance over to Larkin and said, "Looks like Illeria has found her other 'companion'. He said the last word with emphasis and a knowing smile.

Noticing the elf Lefty put out his hand, "Talith is it? I am Lefty and my partner here is Atasha." The old dwarf seemed to recognize this man. It seemed to be at the tip of his tongue.
Larkin nodded in understanding at Xanthrope, then thought for a moment. "There's more going on here than we know about my friend" He whispered to the cleric, "we will need to keep our wits about us".

Illeria looked Talith up and down then shrugged, dismissing him " So you made it." Illeria tried to ignore the fast beating of her heart at Taliths appearance. Illeria started to walk down the raod again however when she came abreast of Talith she paused " I am glad you are alright." she said in elvish then hurried past. Sheilding her eyes she looked up at the sun then down at the map. she knew the map inside and out and only used it now as a reference to be sure she was on the right path.

As the companions travelled down the dusty road, the hot sun shining brightly casting legnthy shadows ahead of them, Illeria's thoughts continued to dwell on the conversation between Eyah and herself the night previous. Unconsiously her hand rose to toy with the golden chain around her neck from which the medallion hung. When the time came to remove the necklace, she was not sure what the consequences would be, what peril she and her companions would be in. All Illeria knew was that the ice crystal and medallion were the keys to unlocking the treasure. Stealing a glance at Eyah as he meandered down the road, she wondered at the half-elf. That he was ambisious was a given, cunning for sure, Illeria pondered how much he had said last night was true or if he had made up the story for the purpose of haveing the ice crystal for himself. She would bide her time and eventually his intentions would come to light. Should Eyah decide he wanted the medallion for himself, she had no qualms about drawing her sword, she just truely hoped it would not come to that.

Shrugging his shoulders Lefty looked towards Atasha, "Seems to be in his own world eh? Eh, Illeria, where are we heading?"
He knew the tension was high for some reason and wished to bring up the subject.

"Illeria where are we headed?" she heard Lefty ask. Illeria looked back at the others following behind her then grinned " On the adventure of a lifetime my friend." she replied. Gesturing for the group to stop she walked over to the egde of the roadway and waited as they all gathered around. Pulling the map out once more Illeria held it loosely in her hand as she spoke " As the others are aware, I am seeking a treasure." she said to Lefty, Atasha and Talith. She smiled at the delight she saw shining from the young humans eyes, Illeria could remember what it was like to be that young, " I have asked all here to assist me in retrieving the treasure, it is said to be hidden away and guarded by a curse." Thought the others have all heard it before, Illeria sang the legend of the Haven treasure and as she finished a grave expression came over her features. " We are not alone in our quest, there are others who covet the treasure for themselves. We will all need to be on alert. " Illeria looked to Talith " It seems I have need of you once again, you most of all know these woods, better even than I. Come look at the map and tell me where you believe the treasure lies." She held her hand containing the map out to the elven warden, Illeria had a good idea where the riches were hidden however she wanted it confirmed.

Staring with interest Lefty looked towards Atasha wondering what thoughts rolled through her head. He now realized why the town seemed interested in this group. A fable older than himself, grinning he realized this story may become something of legend.
Larkin noticed the old dwarf grinning, and smiled, "Does he always get so excited before an adventure" He said, leaning over to Atasha.

OOC: I'm assuming that we're traveling in a forest, not a road. If we aren't just tell me and I'll edit my post.
BIC: Illeria's song had attracted more than the group's attention. It was attracting something else. Something Xanthrope didn't feel easy about. He saw rustlings in the bushes, not a few yards away, and knew that they weren't alone. He leaned over to tell Illeria of his suspicions, when the first of the scale-covered lizardmen stepped out from the cover of the trees...

Illeria waited as Talith looked over the map Funny she thought Not two days ago I would not allow any eyes but mine to touch that map, yet now I am showing all . She shook her head a little in amusement then glanced up with bright eyes as the cleric leaned down to get her attention. As he opened his mouth to speak, the scaly body of a lizardman stepped into the clearing. Illeria graoned inwardly, was it too much to hope that they could put in a full day without being attacked by something uglyshe thought as she drew her sword from it's scabbard. The metal gleamed brightly in the sunshine and a feeling of strenght and confidence filled her as she waited for the draconian to attack. The beast stood still, just looking at the companions with cold beady eyes and Illeria began to feel the first inkling of fear trickle down her spine. Her fears were well founded as suddenly the trees parted and the group found themselves surrounded by draconians, they were completely outnumbered.

Xanthrope pushed towards the middle of the group, trying to find the safest place possible for his spell. He knew he couldn't be interupted or else they would have no chance of succeeding. He whispered a prayer to his god, then pulling out a small vial of clear liquid from his belt he began pouring it on the ground in a circular motion. As the trickling liquid spilled out he began to chant, softly at first, then with growing crescendo. He could hear the battle around him, but it sounded distant, as the spiritual exultation filled him. As he finished the last line, the liquid gave off a faint glowing, and the air was filled with a rushing wind, filling the lungs of the companions, filling their hearts with courage and their bodies with stamina. Xanthrope couldn't help feeling a little proud, but his hand immediately went to his mace when one of the draconians started running for him....

They were outnumbered, Illeria knew it and was unsure of what to do about it. She knew they could not last long against so many. Already the companions formed a circle, keeping their backs to each other and fighting to be sure none of the enemy broke through. Illeria had Talith on her right and Eyah on her left, caught between two equally powerfull men she knew they would be able to hold back any dragonmen who came at them for some time. She caught sight of the cleric doing something behind her however did not have the chance to turn and look for a rather large, ugly draconian picked that time to engage her. Lifting her sword Illeria parried the first thrust of the draconian's weapon and the creature hissed it's displeasure. The draconian was strong and before long Illeria's arm began to remble with exertion. Xanthrope's voice had been continually getting stronger as he did whatever it was he was doing back there and when he finished, she felt strenght returning to her body and with a quick thrust she managed to spear the creature she was batteling, retrieving her sword moments before it's body turned to stone. A grin spread Illeria tossed her head back and laughed " My thanks Cleric, I feel like a woman reborn." looking sideways at Eyah, the grin still in place " Are there any tricks up your sleeves?" Illeria hoped Eyah did have something he could do because they were still outnumbered and Xanthrope's spell would only take them so far.

All color drained from Atasha's face. "it appears you are right, as always Lefty, I just wish this time you were not." Atasha slid her hands down to her boot and drew 3 of her throwing daggers, even though she didn't know what she was going to do with them. She looked back down at Lefty. "now what do we do old friend?" she asked as she circled around back to back with Lefty.

Wincing at Atasha's word he nodded, "I would rather not have insight on this particular situation." Grinning he brandished his hammer tying the lace around his disfigured hand. Groaning at the smell of the dragon men he guffawed, "I would rather not die at the hands of such foul creatures this day. Then again, I would not rather die at all, anyone speak draconian?"

Atasha took a deep breath. She now felt no fear. "let's do this" she said as she took aim. Casting her first 3 daggers at the lizard man in front of her. The first 2 hit their mark but did little damage, bouncing off the strong scale hide. The 3rd however, missed it's traget for the better, sinking deep into the creatures eye. The dagger was just long enough to do a small amount of damage to what little brain this foul thing has. Taking note that it's left leg was shaking uncontrollably along with his left arm, Atasha charged forward while pulling her sword, faking she started to the right then drove to the left forcing sword blow of the lizard to pull his weight to his left leg. Throwing it off balance it fell to the ground unable to support it's own weight. Spinning around Atasha pulled her steel across it's neck withdrwaing it quickly before all life was gone from the creature. Racing away she glanced in Lefty's direction as the creature exploded and expecting her next victim to be on her at any second.

Illeria had her hands full when Atasha darted out ond attacked one of draconians, taking the beast down. "Well done." she yelled when Atasha returned and withdrew her own sword from one of the lizardmen's torso. "We could really use a miracle about now Eyah!" she said then grunted from bracing herself again the impact of a draconian battleaxe as it locked hilts with her sword. Her arm straining, Illeria gritted her teeth to keep the beast's weapon from finding it's mark.

Reaching out to Atasha the grizzled dwarf yelled for her, it was no use. Her youth had taken over, "By Reorx that girl is going to get killed." Staying close to the group was no longer an option until he could get her back. Running as fast as he could the dwarf saw her cut down one of them. Where it fell another one tooks its place. Atasha looked towards him as he swung his hammer down upon the creature. Luckily he hit his mark crushing the dragon-man's shoulder sending it to the ground.
"Get back to the group now," he barked swinging in an arc keeping the monsters at bay. "Don't question me nor stay and help, do as I say!"

Eyah nimbly rolled around Illeria, using her as a shield against the oncoming draconians. Chanting incoherently, he muttered arcane words, summoning the magic to his fingertips. Extending his right arm, he launched a barrage of three lightning bolts at the creatures. Two hit their mark and toppled a pair of lizardmen. The third lurched waywardly and smacked into a nearby tree, setting it ablaze. Eyah paused to regain his breath. He started to chant again, but this chant was different from the previous ones heard by the group. This one ebbed and flowed with an aura of mystical energy. As Eyah continued to speak, his voice grew louder, as if he spoke to an entity far removed from his current location. His fingers spun an invisible tapestry in the air, fluently weaving back and forth on some unseen surface. His half-elven features were contorted with concentration and sustained exertion. Shouting the final words, he stumbled backward, drained of all mystical and physical energy. Collapsing against a tree, he closed his eyes as his chest heaved up and down in an unheard rythmn. The ground in front of him started to lurch upward, until a mound 10 feet high stood where there once had just been dirt. The mound slowly shifted, as though some unseen force inside of it was attempting to break free. Slowly, the mound started to take on a humanoid form. After a minute, an earth element stood fully created, dumbly awaiting orders from its superior. "Element, she is your master," Eyah rasped as he pointed weakly at Illeria. "Is this miracle enough for you, half-elf?" Grinning smugly, he closed his eyes and collapsed into unconciousness.

Noticing the group of dragon-men halting there actions it Lefty stood his ground huffing. It appeared something else was grabbing their attention, for one breif moment he thought ot was just a feigning move. Carefully he turned his head towards the direction they were looking.
The old dwarf's mouth gaped in shock, for before him stood an elemental. Unheard of in this region a mage who dared to call upon it. Turning back to the intruders he awaited some sort of command to attack.Quickly hopping back towards the group he bumped into Atasha closing his distance from the group.

Xanthropes mouth dropped open, and stared at the elemental. Here was power, true power. He almost envied eyah, and his power. Yet he couldn't help ringing out in triumph as another of the draconians felt the edge of his mace. Then he reached into his belt, and pulling out a handful of pebbles, and tossing them at the nearest draconian, watching them strike him, but then sending jolts of electricity coursing through him. "My favorite one" Xanthrope said to whoever might be listening. He turned around to see the elemental killing draconians, cutting a swath of destruction through their midst.

Illeria was astonished to see a large body form out of nothing but mud and dirt, what magic was this. As Eyah collapsed at the base of a tree the thing looked to her for instructions. Tossing her hair back she pointed a hand towards the draconians "Destroy all the dragon men." she ordered then watched as the thing lumbered off, scattering the draconians before it. "Larkin, Xanthrope, Talith, make sure none of the things escape." she shouted before she rushed over to Eyah. Sheathing her sword Illeria knelt down on one knee and gently reached a hand out to brush away the lock of hair that had fallen over the half-elf's eyes. " You surprise me Master Mage." she said softly. Tapping his cheek lightly she attempted to bring him back to conciousness "Wake up, we have to get out of here." As Eyah began to stir Illeria looked over her shoulder at the others, the draconians were almost all gone, only a few managed to get passed the mud man and Larkin, Xanthrope and Talith were quickly handling those unlucky few. As Talith dispatched the one he was fighting, he looked towards her and locked eyes with Illeria, then his eyes widened and he sank slowly to his knees, a blade protruding from his chest. A draconian had snuck up from behind and thrust it's sword through Talith's broad back, time seemed to stop as Illeria watched, powerless to stop it. "NO!" she screamed and began to run, pulling her sword free of it's scabbard. Swinging the deadly blade, she hacked at the draconian like a mad woman, the beast barely slowing her down. It managed to slice her shoulder before her sword cleaved it head from it's shoulders but Illeria did not feel the sting of the blade. Dropping to her knees beside Talith she gently rolled him over and cradled his head in her lap, tears streaming down her cheeks. " No Talith..." she whispered. Talith opened his eyes and smiled weakly at her for a moment then his beautiful eyes slowly closed as his life blood drained out and he knew no more.

Atasha did as Lefty told her and advanced to the back of the group. Her mouth open wide in awe as she watched the elemental do it's work. Lefty bumping into brought her back to life.
"What is that thing Lefty? Are you hurt?" Just as the words came from her she heard Illeria screaming. Running she stooped down next to her as she cried and placed a hand on her shoulder not knowing exactly what to say. The elemental was quickly disposing of the last of the Lizards and it looked to Illeria for the ok to return to it's dirt home. "I will give that thing instructions that it may depart Illeria" she said softly. All around stone turned to dust , foul creatures turned to acidic slim, and a few explosions could be heard. They were gone. Racing over to Lefty she looked grim "he is really hurt Lefty, maybe dead. Do you know any tricks? Herbs? ...could you stop the bleeding?" she asked as she made her way to the elemental who was already starting to meld back into the earth.

"No!" xanthrope cried as he saw the blade protrude from Talith's torso. He ran as fast as he could and prayed he wasn't too late. But it was, as soon as he had begun chanting, the life raced from talith's body, and Xanthrope knew he was too late. He wished he had the power to bring him back, but he didn't and so Xanthrope gently laid a hand on his forehead, and prayed he would find peace in death.
Larkin rested his hand on Illeria's shoulder "there's nothing more we can do for him" he said, "We must keep moving....if we dont, the lizardmen will return with reinforcements". He knew that Illeria was suffering immensly, but they needed to keep going.

She knew they had to move away from the area as soon as possible however her heart screamed at her not to leave Talith. Her eyes were dry as she leaned over and placed a final kiss on his still warm lips "I will never forget you." she whispered then she rose and walked toward Eyah and the others without looking back upon the body of the man she once loved.

Listening to Atasha for the moment he shook his head, "I am fine lass, do not worry about this old dwarf." He scanned the groups morale, physically and mentally. They were broken it seemed. He wondered why, they are alive. Lefty wished he had not thought that once he noticed Illeria cradling Talith. Turning away he once again looked to Atasha voicing his concern through a soft look. Illeria walked with unseeing eyes toward the road, the price for the treasure had now become almost unbearbly high. Pulling the medallion from under her tunic she stared into the ice crystal for a long moment then gripped it tightly in her hand "I will find it, I will break the curse..this I swear." she vowed quietly. when she opened her hand to let the medallion fall to hang on it's chain, the outer ridges of the disk had cut into her hand and slowly blood dripped off her fingers to leave a black spot on the road.
