OOC: Hehe, even though I have become a regular RP'er, I have yet to make a really succesful RPG that can go over 2 pages (2 pages old boards = 200 Posts). I guess I always make my storylines TOO unique so that only a very small amount of people can join. So, here is a more generic, yet equally as fun RPG. Oh, and just because I made the thread, don't expect it to be all stupidity... Although, there will be enough of that as well. Oh, and I have a map of Krynn up in my room, so I may have us go along some odd route only I know. Anyways, into the story!!!

My Character:
Name: Korim Hassleback
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Fighter
Description: 6'2", Longish brown hair. Not overly attractive, but in shape. Wears a hat with a white feather in it, a green coat with chainmail and a regular shirt underneath, and regular leggings.
Weapons: The feather on his hat is sharp at the end, and is filled with a deadly poison. In his pouch he has a set of gloves that have large spikes on the knuckles, great for fights. Then a long sword is on his right side that he wields with one hand.

Now, here is the beginning of the story:
Korim lived in Pax-Tharkas. Even though it had been established as a dwarven and elven town, quite a few humans had moved in as well, although they were still in the minority. But, now many of the elves had left Pax-Tharkas, for after the great green dragon Beryl had destroyed Qualinesti, many of the elves had left with their relatives to travel to Qualinesti. The dwarves had also retreated into there mountain home of Thorbardin. Now the town was mostly inhabited by humans. Also, without the elves and dwarves around to rule it, the city had been reduced from its glory to shambles. Korim decided it was time to move on. Outside of his favorite Inn in Pax Tharkas, Reorx's Ale , he had posted a sign, asking for any who wished to move out of the city and go on to Solace to meet in the Inn today. Korim knew not too many would show up, for most of those who lived in Pax-Tharkas these days were cowards. The way to Solace was dangerous, for they would have to pass right by the Lake of Death. Korim knew that some elves and dwarves that had stayed behind to see their city fall may want to come with him, and some humans that had seen the same happen also may want to go. Korim walked into the Inn, to see who his travelling companions would be.

OOC: Don't worry, if we ever make it to Solace I have other plans... Oh, and I really tried to make this an easy RPG for people to join.... Oh, and you dont have to be a warrior, you could just be a regular person hoping to get out of that place and have some protection. Korim's a nice guy, he doesn't care if you can't add anything to the group...

ooc- I'll join in...

name : Khara Silverwing
race : Kagonesti Elf
weapons : Long bow and quiver of arrows, various daggers.
appearance : Tall and gracefull, long auburn hair, green eyes, wears a forest green tunic and leggings with a brown cloak, brown leather boots. Has a hawk for a companion.

in- Khara sat in the inn, impatiently waiting for the others to arrive for she hated to be cooped up inside and longed to feel the wind in her face. She had been waiting for an opportunity to leave this dreadfull place and when the notice had been posted she had jumped for it. Her friends thought she was foolish to leave, the roads are too dangerous to travel they had said but to Khara, the danger remained in staying where she was and slowly sufrocating(sp) to death. Her hawk Nightwing was perched on the inn's sign keeping an eye on the surroundings and through the strong connection between Khara and Nightwing, he let her know when someone of importance arrived.

As Korim opened the door, he oddly looked back to see a hawk perched upon a sign, and it seemed to be watching him. He shook his head, and walked into the Inn. He did not see much, the regular trouble makers and alcoholics, until he looked to a far table. A beautiful elf sat there, a kagonesti by the looks of her. He walked over, and sat down across from her. "Hello. Are you hear to join my little group to leave this now wretched place? Ah, and I am Korim Hassleback," Korim said, sticking his hand out for her to shake.

Khara looked the human up and down without any hint of what she was thinking showing on her face, after a few moments she nodded her head " Yes I am ready to leave, and even though you are human, I will travel in the group. My name is Khara." she said as she extended her hand regally as if she were a Queen, her green eyes flashing.

Even though she had given Korim her hand to Corim as if she was of royalty, Korim still shook it heartily as if she was an old friend. "I suppose we should wait for some others Khara, since we both seem to be here about thirty minutes early. Would you like something to eat or drink? This place used to have some of the best food around, although I'm not sure since it is no longer run by the dwarves..."

OOC: I will wait for at least two other people to show up in the Inn with us. After that, we can go on out and all the other players can meet up with us on the road...

OOC: This sounds interesting...
Name: Dema Amberright
Race: Silvanesti Elf (outcast)
Age: 98 (looks about 17)
Class: Warrior/Mage (black robe)
Appearance: Dark brown hair and forest green eyes. Wears doeskin pants and a black servant's shirt. She goes barefoot most of the time but when the need arises she will don a pair of soft boots. Her hair is pulled back with a silver clip shaped like a piece of ivy. Wears a simple silver bracelet on her right hand that bonds her with her sword.
Weapons: Some magic, a sword of elver make that is carved with runes that increase it's power when the user is angry.

IC: Dema sighed and pushed open the door to the inn. On her back was a bag filled with all of the possessions that she cared to take with her. It wasn't much since there was still lots of room in the pack.
She looked around and spotted the two sitting at a table. She figured they were the ones leaving town since there seemed to be no one else in the place. She cautiously walked over and tapped the man on the shoulder. "Um, sir are you the man who put up the sign outside?"

"Yes young lady, I am. Although, you look a little young to be travelling out with the warriors. You must only be a teenager!" Korim said, having no idea that Dema was over three times his own age.

OOC: I might as well join
Name: Klar Standalone

Race: Dwarf (Klar)

Weapons: Axe

Bio: Lived in Pax Tharkas, found it much more interesting when elves and dwarves lived there but it is too boring.

Not sure, I think Klar don't have magical powers. But if they do I will have them! :D

IC: Klar came from the back of the inn with a large mug of dwarven spirits, "Oh you are all here then good." He then sat down at the table and drank agulp of Dwarf spirits.

She smiled shyly at Korim. "I'm afraid that i'm not as young as you think sir. Elvish blood runs in my veins and i am but a few years shy of my 100th Day of Life Gift. May i sit down?" She glanced at the other people who had entered and shuddered slightly. She hated being indoors with other people.

"Yes, feel free," Korim said, gesturing to a chair on his right. "I take you will be joining us," Korim said to Klar. Then, he saw the old man enter, and heard him ask if he was in the Inn of the Last Home. He turned to look at a desheveled looking old man in some dirty green clothes. "No old one, you are in Pax Tharkas, in a tavern called Reorx's Ale. I am Korim Hassleback, and this lady right here is called Khara, and uh, this fine young elven woman is called, um, I actually don't believe she has told me her name yet. And this dwarf right here is called...hmm, I'm not sure of his name either. But, we are travelling to Solace, and you would be welcome to join us, if none of my companions object..."

OOC: Paypotu, your character is fine, I always like a little spice in my threads... I will just have a few more posts of letting people get to know each other until I move out, so uh, anyone else that wants to join should do so soon or meet us on the road...

Korim smiled to himself, then said to the group as a whole "Well, it seems you all will be the ones I end up travelling with. Whether this is good or bad, I do not know. Do you all have your possessions that you would like to bring with you here? If so, I suppose we could set out now, after I get some rations from our nice in-keep here," Korim says the last sentence while looking at the cowardice man behind the counter, knowing how much he had stolen, Korim figured he would be able to even out those deeds a bit, and take a little from that man.

Khara sighed inwardly at the disgusting display of bad manners from the dwarf and turned to look longingly out the window. Recognizing the other woman as Silvanesti, Khara nodded her head slightly in greeting then stood up " The dwarf has the right idea, I too will meet you by the trails beginnings. Good day." Khara looked over at the other elf " I can not stand to be cooped up indoors, you are welcome to join me outside." she said in their language, Khara was not like others of her kind for she had no hatred for those classed as dark elves, in fact ambition, alchemy and power were all traits she admired however there were things she needed to collect before the journey began and she did not want to waste time in a dark and stuffy bar, Khara realized the Silvanesti probibly felt the same.

The young elf glanced around again and took a seat at the table. Sighed and looked around once more as if trying to fix the place in her memory. "Are we really going to Solace?" She asked. "Oh, i'm Dema Amberright. Sorry for not saying so before." She cast a longing look toward the kitchens before shaking her head and fixinf her eyes on the table.

"Yes, we really are going to Solace. I had a map-maker friend of mine show me the shortest way. We will stay near the base of the Kharolis Mountains for the start of our journey. We should have no problems around here. In fact, this may be a pleasant journey around the mountains. Neidar dwarves inhabit this region. After that, we still have to pass right by the lake of death, where the great green Beryl was slain. After that, we must cut through a small bit of Qualinesti forest, which is likely to be inhabited by goblins. Then, another small mountain chain to go around and we are to Solace!" Korim then noticed the elf was looking at the kitchen and asked, "Before we leave, would you like to get something to eat?"

10-16-2004, 07:46 PM
Dema's eyes lit up at the prospect of a good meal since she hadn't eaten anything in days. "I-if it wouldn't be too much trouble then i'd love to have something that i didn't have to steal--" She clapped her hands over her mouth and tried to make herself as small as possible.

Hoping that the Silvanesti and old mage would be able to get along ok, Korim went to the counter and bought the fruits for the elf, and decided the mage may like something a little heartier, so he bought him a large plate with some beef, potatoes, and a larger then Korim would have liked cup of ale.

Korim walked back to the table, and put the fruits down in front of Dema and the Meat and Potatoes down in front of Mango. He heard Mango ask Dema about what was going on in Silvanesti, and suddenly Korim remembered rumors about minotaurs invading. Also wanting to know what was going on, Korim sat back to listen.

BIC: The sun was beginning to set, but the companions were nearly at the base of the mountain. Korim wasn't actually sure if the sun was setting, or if it was just behind the mountains, but it was already relatively cold, and Korim halted the group. He decided to give everyone their task for the night. He had Dema and Mango start gathering wood, and since Mango was a mage, he put him in charge of conjuring a spell to light the fire. He put Klar in charge of preparing a meal of the various provisions everyone had brought. Then, he decided that he and Khara should scout the area and make sure nothing was amiss, for these were troubled times for Krynn, and anything could be lurking around. So, Korim walked up a little ways on the slope, having grabbed a small lamp to bring with him. "Khara, could your hawk friend check from the sky for us? I am not sure how much you and I will be able to scout a dark mountain slope at night." As Korim said this, he remained un-aware of the dark shapes watching him from the bushes off to the side. Nor did he see the others, creeping down the mountain side towards the small clearing the companions had chosen.

Khara nodded once and turned her arm so the hawk was brought face to face with her, Khara's eyes seemed to go blank as she communicated with Nightwing. A few moments passed then with a flap of his powerful wings, Nightwing was born aloft in the darkness. Watching him fly for a moment Khara turned back towards Korim intending to tell him to wait untill Nightwing scouted the outlying area when her keen elven sight picked out slight aura's of red in the distance. Everything she had been about to say flew from her mind, and grabbing Korims arm she raced back to the others. " Be prepared, we are not alone here!" she hissed and with that she picked up her longbow and notched an arrow. " I can not tell yet who or what approaches however I can tell you there are many." She stepped out and looked around, trying to determine the best line of defense should it be needed when a piercing cry split the air and Nightwing dove towards her. He flew in circles above her head then with a beat of his wings headed in a northern direction. Khara looked over at everyone with a grim look on her face " I can tell you this, they are not our friends."

Klar was complaining about the rations again, "Why didn't anyone prepare for the trip properly" He had brought two large bags full of food! He took out some more and then he saw Khara run in to the camp and told them of the impending danger, he picked up his axe and stood next to Khara.

Korim also ran back to the camp, after hearing Khara's warning. He got in a defensive stance. He watched, and saw the first of the creatures come within the light of the fire. It was more horrible then he good imagine. It was...a kender. Suddenly, a whole flood of them came by. "Aww hell, this cannot be good at all." Korim put his hands over his ears, preparing for a wave of chatter, instead he was hit square in the jaw from a rock launched from a hoopak. Suddenly, more rocks started raining down on the group, and some of the kender near the front of the group started charging forward with their sharpened hoopaks. Korim grabbed his sword again, as he was pelted with rocks. These were no regular happy upbeat kender, these seemed to have something wrong with them. A darkness in their eyes, some sort of affliction.

Dema heard the disturbance and dropped the wood she had found. She ran back to the camp to find it overrun with insane kender. A few of the more foolish creatures decided to target her and rushed at her with their hoopaks.
One swung at her once and didn't survive to try again. in seconds she had drawn her sword and buried it deep in the demented creature's body. A few of the smarter ones backed off but others pressed closer and fell victim to her wrath.
"What the bloody hell is wrong with them?!" Dema shouted to the others as she noticed the strange behavior for the first time. She ducked a rock that flew at her but failed to notice the hoopak whistling toward her head. Her body went limp as she fell, buried by kender as they pressed toward the others.

Korim, seeing Dema fall barrelled forward. He yelled back to the other companions "These must be the afflicted kender I heard about. They must have had to turn to banditry after most of their home was destroyed by the great red - " Korim had to stop talking as he hit the first wave of kender. He was stabbed in his thigh, but kept running. He ran through the kender, and leaped, knocking most of them off Dema's leap form. Unfortuantely, they just swarmed over her again, stealing anything they could with their quick hands, and trying to make sure she would hurt no more of them again. Korim grabbed his broadsword, the only one of his many weapons that hadn't already been snatched. He swung it in an arc, killing several kender. One jumped on top of the large blade, and stabbed its hoopak through Korim's arm. Korim yelled, and switched the sword to his left hand. Unfortunately, he could barely aim the blade, and had to drop it. Instead, he grabbed and yanked a hoopak from a kender. The hoopak was light enough for Korim to wield, and he stabbed at the quick kender with it. The was in effective, for the kender were nothing if not fast. So, Korim switched the sides around and started sweeping to hoopak like he had his sword, smacking many kender, but not killing any with this method.

Klar stood there, he thought, at last I will be able to kill some kender, and no elf would be around to say otherwise. Klar hefted his axe above his head and charged at the kender, swinging his great axe in a large semi circle, the axe was keen and easily pierced the kender's thin necks, passing through the other side and letting the heads fall to the floor. He then turned so his side was pointing towards the kender to put more power into his swing, he charged once, more but into a larger group and cleaved the kender in two. Klar was loving this, he hadn't fought in years and even better it was kender. Klar laughed out loud, but that was a mistake,a kender jumped onto his back and stabbed Klar in the shoulder.
Klar instantly went down to one knee and ripped the kender and hoopak off and out of his body, he looked up to see the kender surrounding all ready to stab him. He with only one arm holding his axe and the other holding his shoulder and his eyes were angry.

With an arrow notched and ready to fly Khara was torn when the first wave of kender came rushing down the hill. Kender were not the enemy, she thought and decided then and there that she would not take innocent life. Sighting a target Khara let loose the arrow and knew her aim was true when a howl of pain rent the night air, a kender fell to the ground, an arrow peircing his wrist straight through to the hoopak he was welding. Quickly notching another arrow Khara was soon fireing as fast as she could but was still overwhelmed by the small bodies that pressed ever closer. When the order came for the kender to stop and the companions to release their weapons and supplies, Khara lowered her bow glad for the moment that she would not have to inflict any more damage to the poor things. Looking around her, she assessed the wounded in her own party and decided that the Leader of the kender was correct, they would be overtaken before the tide of kender was finished. With a sigh she waited to see what the outcome of the confrontation would be.

Dema groaned and sat up slowly, rubbing her aching head. She noticed the dead kender around her sword, the ones who obviously had tried to steal it. Her eyes then travelled to the circle of kender and her wounded comrades. She staggered to her feet slowly and reached into her pocket, the one that had her spell components. Moving slowly toward Korim she whispered in a low voice, "Make no deal with them, i can get us out...i hope."
she slowly began to chant a teleportation spell and sprinkle rose petals around her feet. A second later she had dissappeared. A shout rang out in the woods to the right, distracting the kender from the others. "Run, i'll catch up later!" Dema shouted, bolting into the woods with the swarm of mad kender on her heels.

The kender were hot on her trail and always at her heels pressing her ever onward. Unfortunatly she took a wrong turn and ended up on the edge of a cliff facing a long fall into the river below.
She looked to the other side. it was a long jump but she hoped to make it. Taking a few steps back, she looked over her shoulder and took a flying leap, grasping the edge of the other side with her hands. the kender pelted her with rocks as she pulled herself up but none had the guts to try and jump it. it seemed the affliction had thankfully given the kender some sense of fear.
She crawled into the forest on the and curled up, hoping to find the others in the morning. With the howls of the angry kender in her ears she drifted into an exhausted sleep with her hand clenched on the hilt of her sword.

BIC: The mountains and forest melted away, and when Korim could see again dust was swirling around. As Korim regained his balance he looked around and saw plains with high grass and a lot of swirling dust. Korim couldn't see much life, until he felt a large hand on his shoulder. He turned to see the painted face of a warrior. Korim gripped his sword, ready to pull it from the scabbard. Then, a whole circle of mounted warriors seemed to just pop out of the grass. Korim took his grasp away from the sword, and looked around warily. One warrior stepped forward and said to the remainder of the group, "Follow." Having no other choice, Korim did.

In the distance Nighthawk could hear the rash screams of what seemed children coming from the west startling the fawn he was healing. With a few soft words in Kagonesti the young doe calmed down while he finished tying the splint on its injury.

Brushing his hand upon the does neck he slowly backed away to let it be. It raised up wearily staring around in confusion and then skipped away from the noise. Smiling, the wild elf turned his attention once again to the dsitraction. Picking up his medical sack and bow he decided to investigate this intrusion upon the tranquil forest.

As he came closer to the forests edge he could see the broken foiliage that had just recently been walked on. Kneeling down he looked closer to the print. Another elf in these woods he thought to himself. Following the trail he saw the curled up body of the woman. She appeared to be a child in elven years marked with bruises from the wild kender who did not seem interested to come across the cliff. Keeping his distance he spoke to the elf...

"Are you in need of medical treatment my lady" he spoke cautiously minding the hilt of his sword.

Realizing this woman meant no harm to him nor the forest he approached closer. Upon examination he had found a rather large bump upon her head that could be fatal.

"Forgive me little one, but I must treat this or you just may sleep forever." he whispered.

Nighthawk reached into his pouch and prepared the herbs required for the ointment. Realizing the night was closing in he would need to prepare shelter for the woman against the closing storm. Taking off his brown cloak he placed it upon the female elf. His body was aligned with traditional elven tattoos creeping up just below his shoulder length red hair. He stepped away and began a mysterious chant. His eyes went from light brown to forest green as he spoke. The ground began to tremble slighty sprouting vines arcing over the girls sleeping frame.

Shaking his head the spell was complete and he went back to preparation of the salve. After completing the neccesary process he grabbed some dead branches and began a small fire. Once again he began to chant a soothing song which placed the young elf into a deeper sleep which was apparently working due to the loss of pain lines on her face. Gently propping her head up Nighthawk spread the salve upon the injury. Satisfied with his work he than sat down to meditate until the elven lady awoke.

Dema's sleep was troubled by strange dreams of kender and what may have happened after she left the others. When she awoke again she found that there was a fire burning near her and a person, an elf was sitting by her. The wound on her head was bandaged but still ached slightly.
She sat up slowly, not wanting to disturb him as he seemed to be in deep meditation. A thorny vine scratched her arm, drawing blood and she winced in pain as she seemed to be covered in it. Sudden realizastion dawned on her. It wass an assassin vine that she was wrapped in and though it seemed on the verge of death, it was still very dangerous.
She drew the dagger that she kept in her belt but as soon as the blade neared the vine it began to constrict slowly, digging its thorns and pumping its deadly venom into her body. She cut at it frantically with her knife but it couldn't penetrated the tough skin of the vine. She cursed under her breath and cast a weak fireball spell which set half the plant ablaze and made it release her. Dema then, substantually weaker, cralwed toward the fire and collapsed.

Within moments the rustling of branches became apparently closer in the distance he could see the warm red hue of the great beast. "You are most welcome my friend, I am in need of assistance." From the darkeness of the foliage the head of a great bear poked its head about sniffing the cool air. "Now, now Fola, it is ok, she needs rest and I fear the elements are against her healing process," he whispered.

With a great yawn the bear broke into full view being followed by her cub, Rolio. With great ease he hoisted the elf woman upon Fola's back and grabbed their belongings. Spears flew up and the draconian soon found himself dodging, catching spears, taking them in his body only to have them bounce off or be quickly pulled out.
